December 2020[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Asartea. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions—specifically this edit to Bell MTS Place—because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Help desk. Thanks. Merry Christmas! As previously advised, your edits give the impression you have a financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. You were asked to cease editing until you responded by either stating that you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits, or by complying with the mandatory requirements under the Wikimedia Terms of Use that you disclose your employer, client and affiliation. Again, you can post such a disclosure on your user page at User:Tjones pw, and the template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Tjones pw|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. Please respond before making any other edits to Wikipedia. Ifnord (talk) 16:05, 22 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You still have not adequately responded or taken action to the inquiry regarding your appearance as an undisclosed paid editor. If you make any additional edits without complying you may be blocked from editing. Ifnord (talk) 16:07, 22 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You may be blocked from editing without further warning if you make any further edits without responding to the inquiry you received regarding undisclosed paid editing. Ifnord (talk) 16:09, 22 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Tjones pw. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Ifnord (talk) 15:55, 22 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

December 2020[edit]

Your account has been blocked indefinitely for advertising or promotion and violating the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use. This is because you have been making promotional edits to topics in which you have a financial stake, yet you have failed to adhere to the mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a form of conflict of interest (COI) editing which involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is strictly prohibited. Using this site for advertising or promotion is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia.

If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, please read our guide to appealing blocks to understand more about unblock requests, and then add the text {{unblock|reason=your reason here ~~~~}} at the end of your user talk page. For that request to be considered, you must:

  • Confirm that you have read and understand the Terms of Use and paid editing disclosure requirements.
  • State clearly how you are being compensated for your edits, and describe any affiliation or conflict of interest you might have with the subjects you have written about.
  • Describe how you intend to edit such topics in the future.

Request reason:

I work for the Architects (Perkins&Will) and was instructed by the manager to correct the Architect name on our projects from "Sink Combs Dethlefs" to Perkins&Will (formerly Sink Combs Dethlefs). If there is a way to edit my account/profile and input my employer, or verify myself, please let me know. I am trying to fix the info on our projects.

Decline reason:

Please review conflict of interest and paid editing and explain how your contributions will be consistent with those policies and also describe any other topics you might edit about. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 19:42, 28 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I read your terms and conditions and I understand the policy on conflict of interest and paid editing. I will be sure to highlight my employer and any other relevant info when making an edit. Just trying to update projects for my manager.

Decline reason:

One open unblock at a time, please. SQLQuery me! 23:23, 28 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I will be making edits as the editor to projects which the Architecture firm has worked on. Direct task from the manager at the Architecture firm is to correct any project with the Architecture name as "Sink Combs Dethlefs" to "Perkins&Will (formerly Sink Combs Dethlefs)". I will note the employer and any other relevant info per your terms and conditions.

Decline reason:

Are you sure you've read our policy on Conflict of interest? Looking at Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide, it mentions: Do not edit articles about yourself, your family or friends, your organization, your clients, or your competitors. (emphasis mine). I will not unblock you in order to write about your firm. SQLQuery me! 23:26, 28 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Then how do I go about fixing incorrect information that reflects our company?
