Unsourced "minority-majority" claims and census data changes

[edit]

Hi... I can see you're working on demographic information for a bunch of New York area municipalities. I have to ask you to please make sure the census data in the article matches the actual census numbers, and that the reference for the census info is updated to match the data. For example, in this edit you updated demographic data in Averill Park, New York from 92.89% White to 87.89% White. The problem is, the actually census data here http://factfinder2.census.gov/faces/tableservices/jsf/pages/productview.xhtml?pid=DEC_10_DP_DPDP1&prodType=table says 92.7% White, and if you are updating the census data, you need to provide an updated reference to the new census data--you left the "factfinder.census.gov" link which is now out of date. Also, I see you sometimes insert a sentence like: In 2010, Schenectady became minority-majority for the first time largely to an influx of Puerto Ricans moving to the area. This sort of original research should not be inserted into articles. Could you please go back and fix the articles you have edited to make sure the demographic numbers quoted match the census data, the census reference is correct, and there is no original research.... much appreciated. Thanks. Zad68 20:02, 1 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Rensselaer County, New York, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Census 2010 (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Problems

[edit]

I see you've been making unexplained changes to demographics info in numerous articles, without explaining your edits, using edit summaries or using talk page discussion. Several editors have identified your edits as adding incorrect information and/or constituting vandalism. You did not react to this in any way. You incorrectly mark most of your edits as being "minor" when they clearly are not. Over the next several days, I'm going to take a close look at your editing. I expect one of three things will happen:

1) It will turn out that your edits are generally constructive, but you need to discuss your editing and find ways to begin communicating: using edit summaries, discussing issues on talk pages, correctly using the "minor" edits check box, etc.
2) It will turn out that you are a long term vandal and I will take the issue to Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.

If you have any explanation at this point, please provide it here. Thanks. - SummerPhD (talk) 15:03, 26 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
