Stats in football players' infoboxes

[edit]

Hi, when you update the stats in football players' infoboxes please remember that you should also update the |pcupdate= (or |club-update=) parameter. This shows when the stats were last updated and prevents editors from accidentally updating the stats again. Thank you. --Jaellee (talk) 09:10, 21 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't try to move pages by blanking them and then copying the material to the new title, as this breaks the copyright attribution of the existing page. I noticed you grouped all your references to a single sentence. It would be better if you spread them all out evenly, or even better, make a longer section for the team's history (see larger football teams for inspiration). Thanks for editing.

Hello, Victoryboy

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username SportingFlyer and it's nice to meet you :-)

I wanted to let you know that I’ve proposed an article that you started, Heidelberg Eagles SC, for deletion because it meets one of the relevant criterion. The particular issue can be located in the notice, that is now visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to prevent the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. Click the Publish changes button.

But, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the raised issues. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|SportingFlyer}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Non-free rationale for File:Oldxaverianssc2020.jpeg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Oldxaverianssc2020.jpeg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F6 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — JJMC89(T·C) 01:33, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Oldxaverianssc.jpeg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Oldxaverianssc.jpeg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who accepted the request.

Victoryboy (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

I apologize for the use of Wikipedia:Sock puppetry as per Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Papa Gino's (Australia). I have created at least thirty-seven articles and majorly contributed to at least eight. I promise to never sock puppet again to the point that if it did happen again, I'd give future permission to block my account forever. Please unblock me as I have learned my lesson.

Accept reason:

In the discussion below, the blocking administrator has shortened the block from indefinite to one week, so it will now expire on May 10. Newyorkbrad (talk) 04:01, 7 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

What other accounts have you used? What will you do in the future if another of your articles is nominated for deletion? NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 08:20, 3 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The only accounts that I have used include this account, Soccer980331, and Crelache, all of which have had action taken on. If another article of mine is nominated for deletion, I will not breach any policy. As per the above, if it does happen again (which it won’t), you have my written permission to do all the necessary blocking permanently. I’m not entirely familiar with signatures so please bare with me as I try to do it properly. Victoryboy (talk) 18:41, 3 May 2020 (AEST)
There are a lot of policies and guidelines, so it's difficult to keep promises like "I will not breach any policy". Could you describe what you might do if another article is nominated for deletion? It's not a trick question, so you don't have to overthink your answer. I just want to know that you've at least read something like Wikipedia:Guide to deletion and will follow the advice there. By the way, you can sign your edits with four tildes (~~~~). NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 11:03, 3 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I know it is difficult, but as I stated, if I was to repeat the same offense as per Papa Gino’s (Australia), my accounts can be blocked forever. To answer your question specifically, I will not ‘sock puppet’ again and only use evidence in discussion, and not be personally biased. Victoryboy (talk) 21:15, 3 May 2020 (AEST)
I think your answer to my question is still a bit vague, but I'll change the block to be a week long instead of indefinite. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 12:10, 3 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Yarraville Glory FC moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Yarraville Glory FC, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. @Victoryboy, why did you push pretty much the same article out barely a month after it got deleted when there was no change in Franco's notability? TarnishedPathtalk 10:53, 21 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi there, the article was re-uploaded as Lino made his senior competitive A-League Men's debut on November 4th 2023, and has participated in three more matches since that date, which is why I re-created the article. The senior caps were acknowledged on the second creation of the article, which is why I am puzzled as to why the article was deleted, and as to why I am being asked it was re-created. I will be creating the article for a third time. Thank you. Victoryboy (talk) 03:42, 10 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I haven't been active on Wikipedia for the last month or so, and did not notice that there was a proposal to delete the article. If I was active, I certainly would have voted 'Keep' and explained why, being that Lino has made senior A-League Men's competitive appearances. Victoryboy (talk) 03:44, 10 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Franco Lino

[edit]

The articles on Franco have now been deleted for a third time. Please don't attempt to create it again without working on the the article at Draft:Franco Lino and submitting it through Articles for Creation (there's a big banner at the top of the draft). The big sticking point on getting the article published into mainspace at the moment is that there is not a lot of reliable sources, particularly about Franco playing for the A-league. Apparently transfermarkt is not a reliable source so until a reliable secondary source is found that confirms that Franco is playing in the A-league you'll have to work on the draft.
