Venom, chocolate and crisps.

[edit]

Basically, the thing I removed said he needed to eat chocolate, crisps or brains.

At the very least, that would need some heavy-duty sourcing for me to leave it in. - SoM 23:10, 15 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Replied on your talk page, let's keep the discussion there for convience's sake.

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Punisher-Symbiote.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. -- Carnildo 02:02, 2 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks so much for your compromise effort on Venom. I had planned on eventually writing some sort of compromise, but I was holding off on being bold in the hope that some of the details could be hammered out. Nice job! --MikeJ9919 06:39, 9 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image tagging for Image:Qwark.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Qwark.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Is there a way to see who's using a Template or Userbox, like how Image pages show what pages the image is used on?

There's the "What links here" link. Also, many userboxes are also categories, so viewing the category shows users who are using those userboxes. If that makes any sense. —Keakealani 06:41, 24 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I'll ask around--Viridis 03:21, 27 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The only potential problem I see is with the, "Userboxes must not be intentionally inflammatory or divisive" clause. Even that only becomes an issue if there are significant populations of 'people who hate MySpace' and 'people who are offended by hatred of MySpace'. Personally, I'm indifferent to/ignorant of MySpace (I've heard it is a social networking site) and can't imagine why anyone would either hate OR love it... so I'd assume there isn't a problem. If there are alot of strong feelings about MySpace such that this userbox might spawn arguments or cause 'MySpace lovers' to be less likely to work with you then it'd probably be a good idea to take it down. --CBD 11:32, 27 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. :3 If you're just talking about the navframes, I used Misza13's NavFrame, and used her example here for a base. For the main title thing, I actually used an example I found on another page, and changed around the colours. If you'd like to use it, I've created a template for my header here. Hello Viridis, an automated process has found an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, such as fair use. The image (Image:Scenery.jpg) was found at the following location: User:Viridis/Images. This image or media will be removed per statement number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. The image that was replaced will not be automatically deleted, but it could be deleted at a later date. Articles using the same image should not be affected by my edits. I ask you to please not readd the image to your userpage and could consider finding a replacement image licensed under either the Creative Commons or GFDL license or released to the public domain. Thanks for your attention and cooperation. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 08:30, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Could you elaborate on why it was deleted? This was discussed before (see my talk page) with me saying I would remove it if there was any complaint, of which I received none. It had many people using it and I wish you would have discussed this with me first.

Please respond promptly.--Viridistalk|contributions 02:43, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Whether "it had many people using it" doesn't matter in this case.
As noted in one of the discussions about this above, it can be considered divisive and inflammatory. See Wikipedia:Userboxes#Content restrictions and Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion#T1.
For future reference, please avoid using the word "hate" in naming or content of your userboxes.
I hope this helps clarify. - jc37 17:52, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free use disputed for Image:Chunky_Kong.jpg

[edit]
Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Chunky_Kong.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 11:34, 28 June 2007 (UTC) Viridistalk|contributions 07:46, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale

[edit]

Hi there. To provide rationale, use the template {{Non-free media rationale}}. Copy this onto the talk page of the article concerned, and complete the relevant sections showing the origin of the image, the nature of the image, etc. I hope this helps, but if you have any questions don't hesitate to leave a message for me on my talk page. Giles Bennett (Talk, Contribs) 10:27, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'd probably put "whole" down for portion used, as you're using the whole image and not just a part of it. Giles Bennett (Talk, Contribs) 14:12, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Chunky Kong.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Chunky Kong.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 21:39, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image source problem with Image:Chunky Kong.jpg

[edit]
Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Chunky Kong.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 22:28, 16 February 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. TTN (talk) 22:28, 16 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:Scenery.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Scenery.jpg. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page.
