Orphaned fair use image (Image:PS3XMBNew.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:PS3XMBNew.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Re: Protection to user page

Hi, W Tanoto!

There are two types of protection:

  • full-protection prevents everyone, except admins from editing (you will not be able to edit your userpage if it is fully-protected.
  • Semi-protection prevents unregistered and newly registered users from editing (with this your can still edit your userpage)

Non-admins that wish to protect their user pages must request protection at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection. You will need to tell them what type of protection you want (full or semi) and the reason you want your page to be protected. Here's the user page protection guidelines in case you want to read more about the guidelines for protecting user pages.

Good luck! Jecowa 19:01, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

Welcome

Hey, thanks for joining, welcome to the project. Imoeng 22:53, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

Maybe you could help improve the Magelang article? It would be appreciated - welcome as well - SatuSuro 23:48, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for welcoming me. I actually joined by adding userbox a long time ago, but haven't add my name until yesterday. I'll see what I can do with Magelang article.--w_tanoto 05:48, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
I also did Muntilan some time back - as my wife (Australian) lived high up the west side of Merapi about twenty years ago - and we made contact with some of the business persons there on Jl Pemuda... but thats a very long story SatuSuro 08:50, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
Lol. My home is number 92A, Jalan Pemuda. It's empty now, as we moved to Jakarta 1994. Most of my relatives still lives there. My maternal grandma was buried in Muntilan, while my paternal grandparents are in Soropadan. BTW, there's a rather nice restaurant (although the place is ugly), called Mbok Kerto lol.--w_tanoto 08:58, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

Re: rename IP address to user name

I accidentally edit Wikipedia when I'm logged out too. No, you can't change the IP addresses to your user name in an article's page history, and you can't add those IP edits to your contribution page. Some people will put links to their contributions under their IP address(es) on their user page so others can see the contributions they accidentally make while logged out. If you want to do this too, just add something like [[Special:Contributions/147.197.215.16|My contributions under 147.197.215.16]] to your user page. Let me know if you have anymore questions! Davidelit 12:58, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

Re:Allah

So in Indonesian, it is correct to refer to Vishnu or Buddha as 'Allah'? Davidelit 12:58, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

'Dewa' is a Sanskrit word and is a cognate of Lithuanian 'Dievas' (God - used by Lithuanian Catholics). With respect to Hindu and other non-Abrahamic gods it's best to translate it as 'god' or 'deity' in English. 'Idol' would be regarded as offensive by polytheists. Welcome to WikiProject Catholicism!

Hello, W Tanoto/Archive 1, and welcome to Wikiproject Catholicism! Thank you for your generous offer to help
contribute. I'm sure your input will be much appreciated. I hope you enjoy contributing here and being a Catholic Project Wikipedian! If you have any questions, feel free to discuss anything on the project talk page, or to leave a message on my own talk page. Please remember to sign all your comments, and be bold with your edits. Again, welcome, and happy editing! --Davidelit 12:58, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

Hi W Tanoto. I reverted your changes to Fauzi Bowo because Sutiyoso is still governor until October 7, see: http://www.antara.co.id/arc/2007/8/16/kpu-tetapkan-fauzi-bowo-prianto-pemenang-pilkada-dki-2007/ and http://www.kompas.co.id/ver1/Pilkada/0708/16/220638.htm After that date, I will restore your infobox if you don't beat me to it :-).
PS I fixed the minor problem with this page so headings appear properly again. Regards Davidelit 12:58, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

Hi again. Fauzi Bowo is now officially governor (God help us!), so I have restored your edits to his page. Regards Davidelit 09:46, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

HD/BD comparison, first look studios

Do you really think First Look Studios counts as a major film studio? I think the list needs some trimming or a different title. --Ray andrew 13:22, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

Im talking about the table on the comparison page, I'm going to trim it back a bit. --Ray andrew 13:28, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

Yoiks

I've just realised that because I "fixed" your page, previous pre-fix entries are listed as being my edits (including the Allah discussion)! Can't be helped, but please don't ask me what they mean... By the way, I meant to e-mail you, but you don't have an address registered. Might be interesting to get in touch - we are opposites nationwise :-) Regards. Davidelit 16:16, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

Citing sources in other languages

Please refer to Wikipedia's policy on this WP:REF, specifically:

"Because this is the English Wikipedia, English-language sources should be given whenever possible, and should always be used in preference to other language sources of equal calibre. However, do give references in other languages where appropriate. If quoting from a different language source, an English translation should be given with the original-language quote beside it." --Ray andrew 19:00, 4 October 2007 (UTC)

Sorry, but I don't think google is considered a real translation, it has severe problems with complex wordings. --Ray andrew 19:04, 4 October 2007 (UTC)

If you really do know how to translate japanese then perhaps you can give this a look [1]. But really everyone thinks the google translation is totally wrong. --Ray andrew 19:15, 4 October 2007 (UTC)

Sorry I cant read Japanese, and if you cant either then I don't think we should try to extract meaning out of junk like:"spherical aberration revision becomes necessary on drive side". —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ray andrew (talkcontribs) 19:20, 4 October 2007 (UTC)

I saw that you were inviting people to join WP:BLU. I think that is a good idea and I am going to work in my sandbox to make a message for invitations.--Playstationdude 18:36, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

I made it. It is now on WP:BLU.--Playstationdude 19:59, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

Panasonic is main Blu-ray supporter?

"Note to previous edit by somebody: Panasonic has more involvement in BD than Sony, so you can't say Sony is the backbone"

Really? First I've ever heard that. Do you have citations for that? Thanks. - Theaveng 19:11, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

HD DVD in Japanese

Oh I see... I was not aware of this... But because the format war is a "Japanese" format war, I thought a Japanese newspaper would be better than Engadget cite. Let's see how it goes.... Thanks...Mugunth(ping me!!!,contribs) 01:33, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

High-definition templates

Hi. I got the feeling that {{High-definition}} and the template you started, {{HighDefinitionMedia}}, could be merged, so what do you make of (the first template on) Template:High-definition media? Thanks, Sardanaphalus (talk) 21:36, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your reply. Given the latest HD DVD news, perhaps it's best to wait a while! Sardanaphalus (talk) 12:05, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

please - there is no need to duplicate cats as at cardinal julius art - the ones added are part of the ones already there - cheers SatuSuro 00:15, 3 March 2008 (UTC) Nah no big deal - its just the ones you had added were already covered - it would be better to have more detail in the article than the categories! cheers SatuSuro 00:20, 3 March 2008 (UTC) WP Indonesia wise a very very big problem at the moment is migration of articles and editors from the wikipedia indonesia project with some rather serious quality issues - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protestantism_in_Indonesia for me is an example of what should not happen - using other wp arts as sources is a total misunderstanding of the whole english project WP:RS as well as limited inggeris with some disastrous quality control issues :( SatuSuro 00:28, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

Embassy of Italy to the Holy See

Please read WP:MoS again. It states, "An article on a topic that has strong ties to a particular English-speaking nation uses the appropriate variety of English for that nation." The EU is not a nation. Neither Italy nor the Holy See are "English-speaking" nations. I've restored the spelling variety used by the first major contributor of Embassy of Italy to the Holy See. Thanks. Gentgeen (talk) 05:26, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Moved "non-overlapping" Format War thread

Thanks for pointing out I posted in the wrong article. To avoid further confusion, I've taken the liberty of erasing from "Format War" and re-posting in "Comparison", but that meant erasing your original note of support. I hope that's ok and that you'll re-post it, as well. Barte (talk) 15:40, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Mark Speight

Thanks from Islander

After having so, so many people adding the as of yet unconfirmed 'death' of Mark Speight to Wikipedia, and then arguing with me when I remove it, it's a breath of fresh air to see someone add it in good faith, and then remove it themselves once in possession of all the facts. I thank you :). TalkIslander 19:29, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

Funeral

I added a mention of the funeral before reading your prior "should we add this?" question on the talkpage. Please do be bold in adding sourced information like that yourself. POV bit: I think it's a crying shame that Speight's gone - let alone his appeal to kids, I'm 48 and even at this advanced age I found his enthusiasm a gateway to appreciating art. Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

PlayStation 3 table

Hi. Thanks for fixing the model numbers again in the SKU table on PlayStation 3. The entire article

Pollo-pescetarianism is a diet which only excludes red meat.

That was it.

A dictionary definition of a neologism.

Obviously, this belongs (if at all) in some sort of article about variants and mutations of Lacto-Ovo, etc.; but no way was it an article, nor could it be. --Orange Mike | Talk 21:44, 6 November 2008 (UTC)

Of course, if you can find reliable sources to show that a chicken is a vegetable or that a catfish is a fruit it might be notable, but extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. Of course that definition was sloppy too in that: some parts of poultry are red meat yet are included; many reptiles have no red meat yet are excluded; and shards of broken glass are excluded though they are not red meat. I'd suggest you might choose to not waste your time on this one.LeadSongDog (talk) 22:05, 6 November 2008 (UTC)

Re:Imam Samudra

I reverted this edit because it was apparently in bad faith (read that IPs edit summary), I thought it was vandalism. I have no idea about the article or the time of death of those three people. I just thought its better to revert the article to a version by established editor rather than leave it as edited by an IP using obscene edit summaries. - Unpopular Opinion (talk) 09:56, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

thanks

Hey Tanato. Wow, thanks for your barnstar. Very kind. Your English is excellent. If I may suggest improvements, it is not your grammar (it is very good), but making your prose/style a little more direct with less words. Note how Indonesian uses a lot more words and tends to mutar-mutar whereas English is a lot more to the point and direct with less words. Ie, less mutarx2.

Also, thanks for being patient where I have actually deleted some of your content. I have done this if I have felt that some of the information is a little trivial. But this is my personal opinion. For example, I don’t think we need to provide an exact address for a landmark, just the general vicinity. Or, what is an “international golf course”? For me, just “golf course”. He he – I don’t like wasting words.

I note the article is lacking in good photos. If you are in Magelang, it would be nice if you could get photos of some of the items mentioned in the article. If you get the opportunity of course.

Cheers --Merbabu (talk) 23:52, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

I have granted your account an exemption from IP blocking. This will allow you to edit through full blocks affecting your IP address when you are logged in.

Please read the page Wikipedia:IP block exemption carefully, especially the section on IP block exemption conditions.

Note in particular that you are not permitted to use this newly-granted right to edit Wikipedia via anonymous proxies, or disruptively. If you do, or there is a serious concern of abuse, then the right may be removed by any administrator.

I hope this will enhance your editing, and allow you to edit successfully and without disruption. -- Avi (talk) 17:40, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

Hey there. It’s fine to remove content like you did here. In fact, it doesn’t have to be vandalism, rather it’s good to remove any discussion that is not related directly or indirectly to improving wikipedia. Ie, this is not a forum. Cheers --Merbabu (talk) 02:44, 12 November 2008 (UTC)

License tagging for Image:Magelang_02.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Magelang_02.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 04:17, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

Pakubuwana

Greetings and happy new year

Noticed work on one of the PB articles - although it is a legitimate edit - however it looks unencyclopediac in the middle of the text

Please if you do one we have to have consistency across all 13 articles - and really the alternate transliterations can go for ever - is it something that really is going to improve the stubs? SatuSuro 22:54, 30 January 2009 (UTC) The more I think about it i dont mind creating 13 redirects myself that simply do the work that way - ie variant spelling in the redirects SatuSuro 23:00, 30 January 2009 (UTC) There are 13 pakubuwanas - you do one, we need consistency across the 13 - I dont think adding the variant spelling in the text is really worth it - I could do redirects instead from the variant spelling SatuSuro 23:07, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

Date of birth and lead...

Please don't remove the date of birth from the main article. The lead is meant to summarise the info in the main article (see WP:LEAD), so of course some info is repeated. Thanks for fixing the format. --Merbabu (talk) 13:17, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

no need to apologise. As a summary, the lead shouldn't include anything that's not in the main article. It would be nice to see the dates in Indonesia articles changed to international format which seems to be the accepted style (ie, not US style). Ie, rather than "August 17, 1945", we should make it "17 August 1945". --Merbabu (talk) 13:34, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
