[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Sami as-Solh has been reverted.
Your edit here to Sami as-Solh was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links in references which are discouraged per our reliable sources guideline. The reference(s) you added or changed (https://mapcarta.com/28024246) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, WhartonUndergrad. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. – Thjarkur (talk) 11:53, 19 April 2020 (UTC)
- HiThjarkur, I am currently a student and am not employed or been contacted by the firm to create the article. Thanks! WhartonUndergrad (talk) 11:18, 20 April 2020 (UTC)
- Note that most of the sources cited are press releases, and the article itself reads like a press release. I don't find it believable that people have a favorite asset management firm that they like so much that they game an autoconfirmed status to create an article about it. We do recommend using the the Articles for Creation process for WP:COI articles. – Thjarkur (talk) 11:40, 20 April 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Thjarkur, I have removed the gulf news article on the destination of the world. However, the rest of the articles are not press releases but articles about the firm and its developments. I was previously an editor of a private equity newsletter and wrote articles on The Abraaj Group and private equity in the middle east. Since I've done articles on these firms, it did not take me a lot of time to write this. Since I'm bored in quarantine, I decided to write an article on wikipedia for the first time to give it a shot - I'm planning on writing on the arab startup iris solutions next. I used Insight Partners to guide me how to write this article FYI. Again, I am not employed or have been contacted by the company... I removed the awards section by the way even though I used the correct sources for them. WhartonUndergrad (talk) 12:34, 20 April 2020 (UTC)
Hello, I'm Materialscientist. I noticed that in this edit to Gulf capital, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Materialscientist (talk) 12:36, 20 April 2020 (UTC)
- Hi [User:Materialscientist|Materialscientist]], I removed it because apparently the article is being flagged for being promotional according to Thjarkur. You can reverse the changes if you think otherwise. WhartonUndergrad (talk) 12:38, 20 April 2020 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Gulf Capital
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Draft:Gulf Capital, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. —Nnadigoodluck🇳🇬 08:37, 23 April 2020 (UTC)
