Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Stoneywood, Aberdeen, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Metro (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

File permission problem with File:Iceland and surrounding area bathymetry.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Iceland and surrounding area bathymetry.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Nthep (talk) 14:12, 18 January 2018 (UTC)

_

@Nthep: I probably shouldn't have provided the exact link to the image. The copyright policy is on https://europeandrussia.weebly.com/topography.html, at the bottom right corner. Sorry for mishap.
Only trouble is that the attribution doesn't specify which image is the one it applies to and looking at the Flickr stream for the named user he doesn't include any maps so I doubt the cc attribution applies to this image. Nthep (talk) 15:58, 18 January 2018 (UTC)
This looks like it is the original and although it encourages reuse, the wording isn't sufficient to meet WP licencing requirements. If you want a topographic map of Iceland, use one of the ones at commons:Category:Topographic maps of Iceland. Nthep (talk) 16:05, 18 January 2018 (UTC)
I scrolled the list, did some research, and decided on
this image
, and hopefully it's okay now.

Welcoming new editors

Hi Zanygenius, When welcoming people please ue WP:Twinkle and please could you not ping editors as it's rather annoying seeing the red number 1 :), Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 01:44, 22 January 2018 (UTC)

Okay, I won't do that if it annoys you. I figured that a shout-out would give you and others the credit they deserve. Anyways, I won't do it. Have a nice day!

Regarding discussion abbout neutrality of the article Dada Kondke Trust

Hello,

i'm very glad that you made nice and appropriate changes to the article so as to make it neutral at some point. I'm surely new to this neutrality tag, but with the help of editors like you, i'll surely become good at achieving neutrality while editing and creating new article. I'm very happy that editors like you ar so supportive and helpful. thanks for the edits. Me being living in the same country to which the article is related, hence i am trying to gather as much as information i can from various sources. i'm also adding various citations as i'm getting them. Only issue with the article seemed to be of neutrality. I would need a bit more help of yours in helping me get off the neutrality dispute tag. Pls help me with what more edits i need to make to get off the neutrality dispute tag? should i improve the languange in which i am presenting the article? Jwalia012 (talk) 18:19, 22 January 2018 (UTC)jwalia012

Yes, it's good to see good faith. Could you look at this paragraph please? I think it will make better sense, and is friendlier than my original writing. Have a nice day!
Sincerely, User: Zanygenius(talk page) 18:29, 22 January 2018 (UTC)
can you pls give me an example like with what should i replace that kind of sentences with? so i can make other changes myself easily. sorry to bother you but this is my first time dealing in achieving neutrality. Jwalia012 (talk) 18:40, 22 January 2018 (UTC)jwalia012
Totally understand what you're going through, I've only been here over 1 month, so I still have to learn a few things. Anyways, if there is a sentence like: The Globetrotters beat the snarly Generals, the word to remove is "snarly". Instead: The Globetrotters beat the Generals. In the Dada article, you had used "rowdy" (We don't know if the company was truly rowdy, so write: So, (the company) removed the memorial and began construction to the property.) Of course, I'll help you re-write the article but this guide should give you an idea.
Bias Unfair Sentence Fair Sentence
"rowdy" Those rowdy bills were higher this month. My bills were a bit higher. (Leave complaints with the actual company btw 😉)
"worked together to..." The Villian and his sidekick works together to plot to steal the candy.

(Note: Conspiracy theroies make it a mess) They stole the candy and were fined $500 for it.

Block reviews

Here, you falsely claimed you had unblocked that user. Please do not do this again, it's confusing to the users who then think they have been unblocked when they haven't. Only administrators should be reviewing unblock requests as they are the only people capable of lifting blocks. --Yamla (talk) 18:45, 23 January 2018 (UTC)

@Yamla:Yes, that does look like I have power. Though I wasn't trying to imply that, so sorry then. Though what is your thoughts on the situation?
Sincerely, User: Zanygenius(talk page) 18:48, 23 January 2018 (UTC)
I think your comments were entirely inappropriate, even outside of the claim you had unblocked the user. We don't need further evidence. We already know there's a violation of WP:SOCK and this was described at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Jwalia012. There's no question, the sockpuppetry was confirmed. Your belief that there was no sockpuppetry is wrong. --Yamla (talk) 18:53, 23 January 2018 (UTC)
Fair Enough, I don't really want to be dragged into this, and so I retire my case, under one condition. Make it 1 year, not infinity, please. Thanks in advance.
Sincerely, User: Zanygenius(talk page) 18:57, 23 January 2018 (UTC)
It's not my block. If the blocked user makes a convincing case, they can be unblocked at any time. I won't be unilaterally specifying an expiry in the meanwhile. Really, I'd suggest you get rather a lot more experience before getting involved in sockpuppetry cases. I'm not meaning that as an insult. They can be hard to understand. Here, for example, you thought there was no sockpuppetry even though it was a clear-cut case. I've been confused by some cases and I have years of experience. --Yamla (talk) 19:03, 23 January 2018 (UTC)
@Yamla: Well, wasn't it User:Bbb23? Though I see what you're talking about, I guess I saw right through things. I apologise then for any confusion. I probably should be focusing on my articles that I promised. :)
By the way, we might have to have a cup of tea and have a casual conversation about your experiences one day. Until then, have a nice day!
Sincerely, User: Zanygenius(talk page) 19:10, 23 January 2018 (UTC)
Bbb23 is indeed the blocking admin in this case. You can discover this by going to Special:Contributions/Jwalia012 and then clicking on the block log. Block logs are public knowledge, so anyone can look at anyone's! Happy editing. --Yamla (talk) 19:24, 23 January 2018 (UTC)

Explanation Re: Stoneywood, Aberdeen.

Reply to diff.

I noted that the article framework had been expanded beyond what you should be able to source for a small village, and it contained statements such as. Being a small town, practically a village, there is a simple layout involving, well, everything. and ...likely managed by the Aberdeen School System and As with all of Scotland, bicycling is a readily available form of transit. I think refactoring these statements is self explanatory, but it was basically according to the various guidelines for writing in encyclopedic way. And removing the numerous unused template parameters was just me being tidy. Regards. Ilyina Olya Yakovna (talk) 19:22, 24 January 2018 (UTC)

@Ильина Оля Яковна:, that makes sense. Just if you would like to make mass edits, a description would do. But I think you did the right thing. Thank you.

Re

Hello Zanygenius. I've got a message from you and I tried to understand it but failed. Could you please describe the question again in English? Don't worry, I'm able to read English. Thanks. -- 镜音铃 (talk) 00:17, 27 January 2018 (UTC)

@镜音铃: Well, that's nice to know. Here's what I meant to say:
Salutations, I was in a scrolling session, on the user script page. I was looking for how to create myself, but I still work hard to learn it. Have seen you, I decided to look back at the syntax ... Poof! I decided to use yours. However, of course not without permission. So I ask for your rights, please, to edit. Thanks in advance. (Zanygenius)
So, I was asking if I could use your Wikiplus, in Simplified Chinese. Hopefully you understand now
Sincerely, User: Zanygenius(talk page) 00:34, 27 January 2018 (UTC)
@Zanygenius: Sure. Wikiplus is open-sourced under Apache License. Everyone can use, modify and redistribute it without my permission according to the license. (For further copyright questions, please follow this link)--镜音铃 (talk) 10:06, 27 January 2018 (UTC)
🙂🙂 Thanks, then! Sincerely, User: Zanygenius(talk page) 16:38, 27 January 2018 (UTC)

Your edits on WP:VPT

Salutations. I've noticed you've been contributing a lot recently on Wikipedia:Village pump (technical). While I appreciate your intent, I think it would be better for you to avoid giving help and advice to users without having a complete answer – especially to technically competent users with multiple years' editing and/or MediaWiki development experience – since they're almost always looking for someone who is more experienced than them. It would probably be more helpful not to comment, than to say "I don't actually know but here's something I thought about just now", since usually someone like a WMF employee, a template editor or a volunteer MediaWiki developer will come around at some point with a well-informed response. I don't think it's helpful to make comments like "ask the Founder": new users won't get it, and experienced users will know it's a pointless statement and will ignore you. (Jimmy Wales hasn't been involved in the running of Wikipedia for years, so it's not much use to ask him anything.) Jc86035 (talk) 17:10, 27 January 2018 (UTC)

Salutations, @Jc86035:
Okay, so I'm a bit over-interested in helping the tech department out, I'll admit ;). Though I will strive to work on other things. (Like the discussion above approved my use of wiki-plus, now I can use it somewhere! I will try to work else_where. Well, have a nice day!

Bots template and SuggestBot

Hi, I stopped by because I noticed SuggestBot crashing when trying to post suggestions to your talk page. Turns out that Pywikibot (the bot framework we use) doesn't like the way you had the {{bots}} template set up. I've moved the template right below the SuggestBot configuration and set it up so that it allows SuggestBot to post here, in accordance with the documentation on Template:Bots. SuggestBot should stop by in a little while with some suggestions for you. Let me know if there's anything! Cheers, Nettrom (talk) 20:02, 21 February 2018 (UTC)

Smiley Sorry! Thank you
So that's what was causing the delay! @Nettrom: Strange indeed, though I must apologise for the crashes it caused to SuggestBot, and the time spent correcting it. Though I have to wonder. Was it the nobot template that sent the thing out of whack? Sincerely, User: Zanygenius(talk page) 21:17, 21 February 2018 (UTC)
