West FM is a local FM radio station for Ayrshire. The station broadcasts on 96.7, 97.5, 106.7 FM and on DAB Digital Radio, multiplex 11B. Based in Ayr with its transmitters in Darvel, East Ayrshire (96.7 and DAB), Girvan, South Ayrshire (97.5) and Toward Point, Argyll and Bute (106.7). The station is owned & operated by Bauer Radio and forms part of Bauer's City 1 network of stations.

Programming

Local programming is produced and broadcast from West FM's Ayr studios from 6am-2pm and 3-7pm on weekdays, 2-6pm on Saturdays and 12-4pm on Sundays.

West FM also airs networked programming from Clyde 1 in Clydebank, Forth 1 in Edinburgh, Key 103 in Manchester and Metro Radio in Newcastle. The Vodafone Big Top 40 is produced by Global Radio at its Capital studios in London for broadcast on 145 commercial radio stations in the UK.

The station's local presenters are Colin McArdle (Colin McArdle in the Morning), Zoe Kelly, Michael Smith, Alan Shaw (Home Run) and Mike Richardson.[1]

News and Sport

West FM broadcasts local news bulletins hourly from 6am to 7pm on weekdays (except 2pm), from 9am to 1pm on Saturdays and from 9am to 12pm on Sundays. Headlines are broadcast on the half hour during weekday breakfast and drivetime shows, alongside sport and traffic bulletins.

National bulletins from Sky News Radio are carried overnight with bespoke networked Scottish bulletins at weekends, produced from Radio Clyde's newsroom in Clydebank.

Extended sports coverage airs under the Superscoreboard banner on Saturday afternoons.
