Category help

[edit]

I am the DYK reviewer of The Prevention and Combating of Hate Crimes and Hate Speech Bill and an editor is requesting more categories. I don't edit much in the subject so I'm not sure of what categories could be added. If someone could add more categories to the article, I would appreciate the help. SL93 (talk) 00:44, 4 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello SL93. The categories have been added. The tag has been removed. Lourdes 11:30, 4 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Accepted article not showing up in search engines

[edit]

Hi there. My contributed article was accepted on October 31st, but does not show up in any google search. I was wondering why this might be the case.

Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Beastcoast (talkcontribs) 01:33, 4 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Beastcoast: That's on Google, not us. Ian.thomson (talk) 01:40, 4 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Beastcoast, once your article is reviewed by a New Page Reviewer it will appear on Google. Be patient. If you need anything else, ask away. JC7V-talk 01:43, 4 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Beastcoast and Ian.thomson: Doug Rockwell currently has the noindex tag telling external search engines to not index it. See more at Wikipedia:Controlling search engine indexing#Indexing of articles ("mainspace"). When we remove the tag, there will be an unknown time before Google indexes it. PrimeHunter (talk) 21:34, 4 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@PrimeHunter: Thank you for that info! How do I go about getting the tag removed? Beastcoast 11:01, 8 November 2018
You wait for a new page reviewer to review it, or for 90 days to expire, whichever comes first. --David Biddulph (talk) 20:44, 8 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ref number 104 please help. I cannot find the IBSN number - this is a book so there ought be one. Also, I have tried to add in the EDITOR - maybe this is not possible. Please repair damage. Thanks Srbernadette (talk) 04:16, 4 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The editor goes in |editor=; I have fixed this. The book was published in 1940 which pre-dates ISBNs. MB 04:28, 4 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Duplicate article creation; what to do

[edit]

I've messed up. Yesterday, after working on it as a userspace draft for some time, I moved Suburban Rail Loop to the mainspace. I went through and linked it from several Melbourne rail network-related articles. One other link was made from Transport in Melbourne by another user.

Unfortunately, I've just now discovered Melbourne Suburban Rail Loop was created via AfC last week. This is a much shorter and less well-developed article, but it was first, and I'm not sure why it didn't come up in my initial pre-move search.

Per WP:PRECISION, given that there is no ambiguity in the Suburban Rail Loop name, Suburban Rail Loop should be the final article title.

I would ordinarily save a copy of the page, request G7 and insert the content I'd written into the existing article by moving it. Since the one I created has been reviewed and categorised by others, however, I'd just like to be sure this is the correct approach to fixing the mess. Or is there something else I should do? Triptothecottage (talk) 11:58, 4 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I redirected Melbourne Suburban Rail Loop to Suburban Rail Loop. Abelmoschus Esculentus 12:04, 4 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, easier than I thought. Triptothecottage (talk) 01:12, 5 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Tarafder Md. Ruhul Amin

[edit]

Tarafder Md. Ruhul Amin - Saif Powertec Ltd. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fatahbd (talkcontribs) 14:31, 4 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Fatahbd. What is your question about editing Wikipedia? If you are asking for an article to be written about a particular person, remember that this is a volunteer project, and editors work one what they choose to work on. You could post a request at requested articles, but there is no guarantee anybody will pick it up. In any case, it is worth checking first if he is notable (in the special way Wikipedia uses the word): have several people who are completely unconnected with him (and his companies or associates) chosen to write at some length about him, and been published in reliable sources. If the answer is not, then there is no point in you or anybody else spending any more time on this, because no article will be accepted however it is written. --ColinFine (talk) 18:21, 4 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Using non-WikiCommons Wikipedia images from within Wikiquote

[edit]
Demoiselles

How does one import a Wikipedia image (not contained in Wikicommons due to copyright issues. e.g., Les Demoiselles d'Avignon on the right) into a Wikiquote article? It is easily linked within Wikipedia, but I have been unable to find the correct format for linking such an image, that is not in Wikimedia commons, from within a Wikiquote article. Are there procedural regulations preventing image access from sister projects or am I just unaware of the format required? Thanks
ELApro (talk) 20:57, 4 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, ELApro. Commons is specifically provided to allow all Mediawiki projects to link to it; apart from that case, images cannot be linked across projects. Further, Q:Wikiquote:Image use policy#Image resources says "Wikiquote does not host images itself, and so uploads are disabled on Wikiquote. Because of this, and because the fair use of non-free media is prohibited on Commons, it is also prohibited on Wikiquote." Sorry. --ColinFine (talk) 22:17, 4 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
