[edit] Robbery and hostage situation on January 10-11, 2013
On Thursday, January 10, 2013 at around 10pm, two armed men entered the Nordstrom Rack at the Promenade at Howard Hughes Center. They held 14 employees hostage, forcing some to strip and stabbing one employee, sexually assaulting one and pistol-whipping another. The suspects fled in a white SUV after police arrived on the scene. The police followed but lost the car during pursuit. Due to concerns about the possibility that more armed perpetrators were on site, the mall was on lockdown for several hours and movie theater goers were not allowed to leave.[2]
