Unreferenced BLPs[edit]

Information.svg Hello DaGizza! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 1,583 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

deletion of category[edit]

Well, Good evening. In the page : Kalitas of Assam, the category"Assam" has been removed by u. actually the Kalitas as a caste or community is distinct to the province of Assam in India and hence the category "Assam" is very much important for searching this page. "Kalitas of Assam" has to be included in "Assam" category.

Hence I am putting the category back again.(Undo)

Deletion of Category from page[edit]

Hi Girish, Thanx for the reply.

"Kalitas of Assam" -- are the most numerous of all Assamese social groups in Assam (like the Ahoms).

By the same yardstick which u have applied in removing the category "Assam" from this page , you should also remove the "Assam" category from the wikipage "Ahom" too.

removal of Alpolic Aluminum Composite Materials?[edit]

Hello,

Could you kindly explain how this article was tagged as an "advertisement"?

Here it is again for quick reference:

ALPOLIC® is a lightweight material composed of a thermoplastic core sandwiched between two skins of aluminum. This material is generally called Aluminum Composite Material and abbreviated as ACM. ACM was first produced in Japan in 1974, and was then introduced to the United States in the early 1980s. Common applications for ALPOLIC® are for architectural applications such as external and interior claddings, roof coverings, and ceilings of buildings.

I have read all the rules as to sort of content to stay away from, and I do not understand how this is nothing more than a informative piece not advertising anything?

I followed the information structure from a description from another similar material, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alucobond

If anything, the Alucobond article is more of an advertising piece in that is is more pro-product.

Could you please advise?

Thank You,

joshua —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.50.79.32 (talk) 14:22, 11 March 2010 (UTC)

Inclusionism, not deletionism[edit]

http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Inclusionism

Inclusionism is the philosophy that information should be liberally added and retained on Wikipedia. It is espoused by users called inclusionists who favor keeping and amending problematic articles over deleting them. Inclusionists are generally less concerned with the question of notability, and instead focus on whether or not an article is factual, with merit, or useful.

Inclusionism is opposed to deletionism which supports the deletion of unworthy articles and exclusionism which involves removal of unhelpful information (and deletion of an entire article only if such removal leaves nothing behind). In other areas, inclusionism usually aligns with eventualism because both philosophies hold that articles with mixed quality of content should be retained and will be improved in time. As the size of Wikipedia grows, incrementalists will also become more inclusionist as the standards for notability become easier to meet. Inclusionists do not necessarily lean toward either end of the mergism-separatism or exopedianism-metapedianism spectrums.

A favorite phrase of inclusionists is "Wiki is not paper." Because Wikipedia does not have the same space limitations as a paper encyclopedia, there is no need to restrict content in the same way that a Britannica must. Usually the AFD discussion takes the same or more amount of disk space than the article. It has also been suggested that no performance problems result from having many articles [1]. Inclusionists claim that authors should take a more open-minded look at content criteria. Articles on people, places, and concepts of little note may be perfectly acceptable for Wikipedia in this view. Some inclusionists do not see a problem with including pages which give a factual description of every person on Earth.

From a deletionist or exclusionist viewpoint, inclusionists appear to be arguing for the value of material and information which is substandard, or inadequately verified; however, inclusionists counter that there is little harm in keeping material that might some day be improved as information on the topics become more widely available. Inclusionists also point out that Wikipedia is not meant to be a poor copy of the Britannica, but rather a unique encyclopedia that aspires to "the sum total of human knowledge." Furthermore, inclusionists argue that the concept of "notability", an idea that many deletionists use as a basis for selecting which articles ought to remain and which deleted, usually has no objective criteria. They argue that reliance on such a concept does more harm than good to the goals of the project.

Inclusionists are perceived as having a greater acceptance of trivialities, small articles, non-traditional topics, and non-academic articles; this may cause them opposition by those who hold stricter views about the proper content of an encyclopedia. Inclusionists often see this project as a completely new and revolutionary way of storing and organizing all human knowledge. Many editors may object to articles such as a "List of tennis players who appeared on the David Letterman Show in 1995", but some inclusionists strongly support such items, arguing that they are valid additions to an encyclopedia aimed at being a repository of all human knowledge. Inclusionists may feel such critics are simply suffering from the academic standards kick. Inclusionists also point to the fact that there are no concrete standards for determining how noteworthy or notable a topic is.

Two important prerequisites for additions to Wikipedia are that the information is correct and well placed. That last aspect requires a good structuring of Wikipedia in levels of detail, with general articles linking to more detailed 'subarticles', which in turn link to still more detailed ones, so that (ideally, eventually) on the one hand people who are not interested in certain details will not be bothered by them, while on the other hand people who are interested in them will easily find them through just a few well-placed links. If the information is not thus well placed or Wikipedia is not well structured to place the info, then that should be changed instead of removing the info. If someone finds something interesting enough to write about then chances are that someone else will (one day) find it interesting enough to read about, so it should be in Wikipedia. If that person does not know where to place the info, then that should not stop them from putting it somewhere. Someone else will then (eventually) put it in the right place. Although of course what is the 'right place' also changes over time. If for example the info does not warrant a separate article yet, it can be kept in a higher level article, where it might become a 'seed' that attracts other related info, which together might later warrant a separate (sub)article. Such loose facts are often placed in trivia sections at the bottom of an article. Removing those seeds will stunt the growth of Wikipedia.

Inclusionism parallels eventualism and the legal standard of presumption of innocence. As always, the dangers of factionalism should be noted, as should the likelihood that many Wikipedians are neither exclusively inclusionist nor deletionist, but mergist or some other wiki-philosophy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.132.236.20 (talk) 06:41, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

There are some wrong information on Ravana page, specially in Etymology section. Some people have replaced the word "Sinhala" with "Tamil" and they defaced that section. WikiProject India Newsletter Volume V, Issue no. 1 - (June 2010)[edit]

Project News

WP:IND Newsletter is back! It's been nearly a year since the last edition, but we hope to bring out issues on a more regular basis now. The India Wikiproject was set up to increasing coverage of India-related topics on Wikipedia, and over the past few months the focus has been on improving article quality. A number of the project's featured articles underwent featured article reviews over the past year. Of these, Darjeeling and Flag of India survived the review process, while the rest were demoted. During the same period, Gangtok, Harbhajan Singh, Darjeeling and Mysore were featured on the main page respectively on August 20, September 17, November 6 and December 29, 2009. Meanwhile, articles on topics as diverse as Political history of Mysore and Coorg (1565–1760), Marwari horse and Iravan were promoted as featured articles, and respectively appeared on the main page on March 25, May 17 and May 28, 2010. Consequently, the number of FA-class articles under the project's scope dropped from 67 in August 2009 to 63 in June 2010. The number of good articles, however, saw a more than 40% increase, from 91 to 130 during the same period, while the number of featured lists saw a 33% increase from 12 to 16.

Due to the recent policy changes regarding unreferenced Biographies of Living People (BLPs), an effort was started in January 2010 to source all unreferenced BLPs coming under Wikiproject India. 1200 such articles were identified initially and more were added to the list later. Due to the sourcing effort, the number of Indian unreferenced BLPs is down to 565 currently. During February-April 2010, There was a large scale disruption of Kerala related articles by a Thrissur based IP vandal. Editing from a dynamic IP BSNL connection, the vandal changed dates of birth, death and ages of a number of Malayalam and Tamil film actors. Later he added a few international biographies to his list. He also marked some living people like Arvind Swamy as dead. A month long range block was imposed on his IP range two times and each time he came back to vandalise dates once the block expired. Currently the range has been blocked for three months till September 11, 2010.

Why did you delete my edit? It made a valid point - actually the term Padayatra is more well known in ISKCON circles as a religious pilgrimage, than it is generally as a political march.

Every time I have made any (valid and well thought-out) contribution to Wiki, some editor has deleted it, or worse - deleted the whole page! (Which stood for years before I helpfully tried to delete a spelling or grammar mistake). My experience with Wiki editors leaves a sour taste in my mouth. This is made even more annoying in this case - when I was on Padayatra in 1994, how old were you? lol —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.13.152.52 (talk) 21:16, 24 September 2010 (UTC)

WikiProject India Newsletter Volume V, Issue no. 2 - November 2010[edit]

English WikiProject News

After a missed issue, the WP:IND newsletter is back on track to being a regular bimonthly feature. The Indian WikiProject has seen plenty of online and off-line action, both in English as well as other Indian languages, and we now have a bigger, better format that intends to feature content and news from the English as well as other Indian language Wikipedias.

Reaching out to Indians has been the theme of the Indian Wikiproject over the past couple of months, aiming to involve a greater number of Indians in editing both the English and Indian language Wikipedias. To this end, efforts to set up the Indian chapter of Wikimedia have moved into their final stages, and registration of the society is currently pending. An effort is underway to push for "WikiMarathons" at meetups, where attendees will be encouraged to edit the English and/or Indian language Wikipedias. This is intended to popularise Wikipedia editing among the general public. In addition, a bot to post DYK's from the Indian Wikiproject to Twitter was created and launched by User:Logicwiki.

What's New?

Regrettably, the number of Featured Articles has dropped from 63 in June to 58 at the end of October 2010. Several FAs came up for review and were delisted, while Fundamental Rights, Directive Principles and Fundamental Duties of India was saved. Meanwhile, Chalukya Dynasty appeared on the main page on July 9, 2010. Hearteningly, the number of Good Articles increased from 130 to 136 during the same period, while the number of Featured Lists remained constant at 16.

The source code for the Article Alert Bot is now available and the bot itself is expected to be up and running very shortly. This means that article alerts for the Indian Wikiproject will again be available, enabling editors to easily keep track of developments in respect of reviews, nominations, deletions etc.

The date change vandal mentioned briefly in the previous issue made a reappearance when the range block on his IP range expired in September. Consequently the block was extended till September 2011.

In October there was a heated discussion in the India project noticeboard regarding the copyright status of the Indian party symbols. The discussion was triggered by the deletion of Wiki San Roze's party symbol images by Hammersoft as copyright violations. No resolution was reached, partly because of our inability to explain to Hammersoft how election symbols in India differ from party logos. Comments are requested from anyone with a background in Indian copyright law to clarify this issue.

Brahmand Pujan Article[edit]

Cow Milk Moral or Sin ? by Naresh Sonee writer of Brahmand Pujan http://vegetarians-cows.blogspot.com/2008/01/drinking-milk-moral-or-sin.html

APPEAL TO YOU - RESCUE Reg: [BRAHMAN PUJAN] , [UNIVERSAL PRAYERS] . written by [Naresh Sonee] On wikipedia , These above two pages are far older than the present article [Brahman] References of above titles are also available on New York site - http://www.printsasia.com/BookDetails.aspx?Id=445813482 Meanwhile, Can your good selves in Wiki Project Indian Community re-create a precise pages on [Naresh Sonee] & his book [Brahmand Pujan] – [Brahmaand Pujan] . However, Sonee is the writer of this book [Brahmand Pujan] written in 1999 . registered with Government of India- HRRD. Details of the registration is provided here on http://brhmaandpujanbook.tripod.com/ . More than sufficient, news and reviews are there on http://brhmaandpujan-news-reviews.tripod.com/ Since 5-6 yrs, for one or the other reason pages of [Naresh Sonee] & [Brahmand Pujan] are faced by communal bias from outside India so these articles over and again get deleted here in Wikipedia for minor reasons. However, many hits of - Naresh Sonee reflects on google search engine also. So, I request Wiki Indian community to kindly come forward and generously help these two pages to grow, as I am fed up to fight my case alone here [left] and moved out long back. Meanwhile, such an important info/issue on ‘Indian literature’ which adds & spell ‘new meaning /dimension’ to Brahman -should it stay lost else ignored? Your community panel has to judge at last. Myself, will not be on Wikipedia, for the same i apologise, but- pls. help these two pages to get reinstalled, reap, sow and grow, if you too feel so, I appeal to do this munificent favour. Request to Move Pages[edit]

Hi Girik! Sorry to bother you again. I realise that I can move pages myself etc. but I have created 3 pages and 3 corresponding redirects to them (the redirects are simply acronyms). But I came to realise that in cryptography these concepts are exclusively known by their acronyms and I cannot move the original pages onto the redirects. So could you please move the following pages?

That would be great thanks :)RobertHannah89 (talk) 11:44, 24 January 2011 (UTC)

Few Questions[edit]

Hey Girik. I was just wondering a few things:

  • Firstly, you know how at the bottom of the contributions page, there is a link to the pie chart of your edits: how do you get that to be displayed on your user page?
  • Secondly, is there a way of automating citing articles that appear in Google Scholar? There used to be but it doesn't work, I've looked for a while and I can't find any instructions.
  • Thirdly, is there a way to automate things like saying "citation needed" or "more inline references needed"? It's tedious going into the articles and then trawling through the script again and again.

Thank you for your help :D RobertHannah89 (talk) 13:01, 29 January 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for your message regarding removal of link. I understand the removal of tag to an external link. However, this link is not an advertisement or soliciting. The external website contain true information about tabla notation. We are not selling anything nor trying to pursue anyone, but just giving the information. You can verify the external link and check for yourself. I am not that computer savvy as such I cannot edit pages on Wikipedia with special figures and sketches. May be you can help me on this issue. Wikimedia Foundation[edit]

Hi DaGizza,

My name is Patricia. I'm working with the Wikimedia Foundation this summer to learn about the histories of different Wikipedias. You can read about the project here. You probably don't know this, but you were one of the first users to register on Hindi Wikipedia and one of the most active of those early users. Any chance you'd be willing to talk with me about your experiences editing? I'm especially interested in what you feel like are the differences between the Hindi and English Wikipedias. I'm sure seeing Hindi Wikipedia grow, even though you've not done any editing over there in about a year, you've got some great insight!

If you'd be willing to talk to with me please send me an email at hindiwikipedia@gmail.com or just leave a message on my talk page. Thanks so much! Cloudmessenger (talk) 21:47, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

Wiki Followup[edit]

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly! Late this week or early next would be just fine. You're helping me out so I'm happy to work around your schedule. I've put some basic questions on my Hindi talk page so you can get a sense of what I'll be asking.

I'm in the UK right now, so there's a 10 hour time difference between us. A Skype chat would probably be best or we could IM.

Cheers! Cloudmessenger (talk) 10:25, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

Uploading Images[edit]

My God! They just want to make AS HARD AS POSSIBLE to upload an image. No wonder Wikimedia Commons is essentially empty. All I want to do is upload a picture of Milton Friedman that was given to me by The Friedman Foundation for Educational Choice as a public domain image and I honestly don't have several hours to figure out how to document the image. The state of this system is so broken that Wikipedia does not even have a picture of the most famous economist of the 20th century.RobertHannah89 (talk) 00:34, 6 August 2011 (UTC)

MSU Interview[edit]

Dear DaGizza,

My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the community HERE, were it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.

So a few things about the interviews:

  • Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
  • Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
  • All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
  • All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
  • The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.

Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at obar@msu.edu (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your name HERE instead.

If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at obar@msu.edu. I will be more than happy to speak with you.

Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.

Sincerely,

Jonathan Obar --Jaobar (talk) 02:46, 9 February 2012 (UTC)

WikiProject India Tag & Assess 2012 Contest[edit]

Hello friends, we are a number of editors from WikiProject India have got together to assess the many thousands of articles under the stewardship of the project, and we'd love to have you, a fellow member, join us. These articles require assessment, that is, the addition of a WikiProject template to the talk page of an article, assessing it for quality and importance and adding a few extra parameters to it.

As of March 11, 2012, 07:00 UTC, WikiProject India has 95,998 articles under its stewardship. Of these 13,980 articles are completely unassessed (both for class and importance) and another 42,415 articles are unassessed for importance only. Accordingly, a Tag & Assess 2012 drive-cum-contest has begun from March 01, 2012 to last till May 31, 2012.

If you are new to assessment, you can learn the minimum about how to evaluate from Part One of the Assessment Guide. Part Two of the Guide will help you learn to employ the full functionality of the talk page template, should you choose to do so.

You can sign up on the Tag & Assess page. There are a number of awards to be given in recognition of your efforts. Come & join us to take part in this exciting new venture. You'll learn more about India in this way.

Indic related naming conventions[edit]

Hi, I'm following up on a comment you made on Wikipedia_talk:Hinduism-related_topics_notice_board/Archive_3#Naming_Conventions in 2007...

If you get a chance can you give your opinion about a reverting a name change in the following article Talk:Kripalu_Maharaj#Revert_name_change. The article was originally called "Jagadguru Kripalu Maharaj" but 2 days ago a user changed it to "Kripalu Maharaj". Jagadguru Kripalu Maharaj is the name by which the subject of the article is overwhelmingly known as, and I have given many reasons and proof of that, and reasons why the name should be reverted back to Jagadguru Kripalu Maharaj. "Kripalu Maharaj" sounds completely wrong to anyone who knows the subject, and anyway there are other people with similar names.

Anyway, since you previously vaguely commented on the issue, maybe you can leave a comment on the talk page for the article.

Thanks. Lotusjuice (talk) 22:21, 22 April 2012 (UTC)

About the deletion of a page[edit]

Hello

My email address is runnerbloodprince@yahoo.com if you want to respond. I'm not sending this message from my PC.

I wanted to ask you about Yaron Lichtenstein's page deletion. I am a former boxer (3 years at a professional club) and had a little training in Ninjutsu. I went to several Krav-Maga schools in my country, and no one was satisfactory. The single one which I actually think is good is Yaron Lichtenstein's Bukan school. Yaron is also proven legally (legal translations from Hebrew to English) the Grand Master of Krav Maga, in documents signed by Imi at Hebrew notary.

I don't think a 9 dan Grand Master in a really known martial art is not noteworthy on Wikipedia, the biggest encyclopedia on the internet.

Looking forward to your response, Alex — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.83.42.165 (talk) 11:15, 11 September 2012 (UTC)

Hi Alex,
Just to let you see, this was how the article looked like before deletion:
The first problem was that it was written in Spanish on the English Wikipedia so most readers will have no idea what the article is about and also if this topic deserves an article. The second thing was that there were no sources supporting anything mentioned. I think you write the article out again in English and at least direct the reader to a few websites that describe Yaron's notability in the Krav Maga martial arts. In further time you can focus on reliable sources. Then I think it should be accepted and not deleted again. Thanks. GizzaTalk © 01:20, 12 September 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletions for allowing moves[edit]

DaGizza,

Thank you for speedy deleting All the World's Mornings - However, after you delete to make way for a move, it's important that you actually do the move requested. If I had been away, this page could have been a redlink for days, and it clearly shouldn't be. This was discussed at Wikipedia talk:Criteria for speedy deletion/Archive 47#Speedy delete for pages blocking a move. I'm wondering if the link that's attached to the speedy delete notice isn't working? Ego White Tray (talk) 03:52, 17 December 2012 (UTC)

2012 in UFC[edit]

I just wanted to say, 2012 in UFC is different from the page that was deleted. The old page had information on all events. This one just mentions those events that are deleted from wikipedia. So basically you removed information that is nowhere else on wikipedia. Would it be possible for you to restore the latest version of the page to my namespace? Thanks in advance. Also, I can't seem to find the deletion discussion anywhere... There's no link on my talk page. Do you know where it is? Oskar Liljeblad (talk) 06:36, 17 December 2012 (UTC)

White peony[edit]

I think I'll invite you to save yourself a bit of embarrassment and recommend that you revisit the article above. I realize that you're not around here too often, but if you take a look at the article's content, you should clearly see the blatant vandalism. It's not enough to have a list at the end of the article that appears to represent citations, when the article's content merely equates to vandalism. Please note that the article is based on a current juvenile meme based off of the Five-Year Engagement movie and replicated here. When an article is flagged as blatant vandalism, please make sure to take a more thorough look at the content. Notability and citations have nothing to do with this article. Dear DaGizza, Greetings. My understanding is that you have deleted the Wikipedia article I published earlier today in regard to the subject Katherine Lorenz. The reason given was: (G12: Unambiguous copyright infringement of http://www.linkedin.com/in/katherinelorenz). I would respectfully ask that you consider undeleting the Katherine Lorenz article after making the necessary edit/deletion of the Unambiguous copyright infringement of http://www.linkedin.com/in/katherinelorenz). Otherwise, the article is very well researched, sourced, and based on reliable sources from a number of credible news gathering organizations ranging from The Wall Street Journal and Forbes to the Houston Business Journal and Huffington Post. Other third-party sources, including the Environmental Defense Fund, National Academy of Sciences, and the Cynthia and George Mitchell Foundation are used. Invitation[edit]

There is a backstage pass coming up to be followed by an editathon in the State Library of New South Wales on 23 November. This is the first time that an Australian cultural institution has opened its doors to us in this way and will be a special opportunity because the Library is providing: one of its best rooms; its expert curators (along with their expertise and their white gloves); a newly launched website (containing new resources); and of course, items from its collection (including rare and usually unavailable material) which we can look at, learn from, and use, to improve WP articles. For example, on the chosen topic (Australia and WWI), the Library holds many diaries and manuscripts from the period.

As you can see from the Library's project page, they have connected this editathon with their own work. They have already set out a wide range of resources to make things easier for us. Please sign up on the editathon project page if you can participate either online or in person with other Wikipedians. Hope to see you there! Lankiveil (speak to me) 07:16, 3 November 2013 (UTC)

since the time it was deleted, sources that where not available to show notability have slowly emerged over the internet and i suppose i figured maybe i can request the making of the article which i have already done and now also looking for editors who may feel like they could help. Since the original articles' deletion, i came to terms with the fact that in the greater interests of the bigger picture the right thing was done, i somehow now need help to do the same thing the right way

see i thought there was nothing to lose. I have so far created a request for an article to be made and i was hoping you could assist me in making this article, editing this article, preserving and protecting this article. i appreciate that you may not have the necessary time to execute such a request but i figure it may not take you very long. i cannot make it myself as it is about me and as you will see from the following link i have already tried -http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:WhatLinksHere/Sugaspott - and failed. when i failed for the last time prior to now, i decided that it was not necessary and that my time was better off invested in other avenues. and then in the course of time the BBC put this on their website -http://www.bbc.co.uk/music/artists/f7fcc586-7bd3-4872-9927-620da58b6421- after i received some airplay from Tom Robinson. that page stipulates that a biography can only come from Wikipedia. Now i have this monster of bureaucracy to tackle and because they oft end up with heated exchanges and ill mannered thoughts i beg for some resolve and assistance.

I appreciate that i may not be as important as barrack obama but believe me sir i have contributed much less on a par to our society as have the following individuals, for illustration purposes only, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cokni_O%27Dire ,https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maskiri, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overlord_X,

thanks

any help would be appreciated and i will be grateful for

Pre-1500 Indian rulers on the VA/Expanded list[edit]

Hi Gizza! Thank you for your input in WP:VA/E – your thoughtful and eloquent contributions have been much appreciated. I need your help with something. What I'm about to say might not be news to you, but before the 1500s we have just two rulers of India on the list: Chandragupta Maurya and Ashoka. In other words, we have nobody to represent India's political history in the 1700 years following the Ashoka's death in 232 BCE. This seems unacceptable to me, and I'd like to replace some of the less notable Western figures on the list (that's easy, there are many to choose from) with Indian ones. But my knowledge of Indian history remains extremely poor despite my attempts to read up on it.

As a start, I have made a list of eight rulers who I think might be suitable additions, and I wanted to see what you think of them before I put them up for general discussion. I wanted to add figures that were clearly vital, but I also tried to represent a range of geographic regions, ethnic and religious backgrounds, and time periods. That second consideration forced me to leave out some people I otherwise wouldn't want to, but I thought it would be impractical to start with more than eight people since I don't want to overwhelm the forum with these proposals. I'd welcome any feedback you have. I've also invited User:Redtigerxyz to join the conversation – I hope you don't mind. Thanks!

A brownie for you![edit]

Brownie transparent.png In appreciation of your excellent contributions to VA/E! You've really improved areas such as law. P.S. Sorry about my oversight about negligence having just been added - very careless of me! Smile.png Neljack (talk) 01:42, 20 June 2014 (UTC)
