November 2014[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Ruy Pugliesi. I wanted to let you know that I undid one of your recent contributions —the one you made with this edit to List of Sri Lankan broadcasters— because it didn’t appear constructive to me. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Ruy Pugliesi 17:50, 21 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanx Ruy Pugliesi[edit]

It was my fault. I was unable to make my editing steady. Any way, I added some references later. Actually Mr KDK Dharmawardhana was a great broadcaster in Sri Lanka. I'm sorry, I couldn't verify his name at first. Thanks Ruy. (Dinura Pradeep Balasooriya (talk) 17:11, 4 December 2014 (UTC));[reply]

Famous persons[edit]

Hello again, I wanted to explain that lists of "famous persons", "notable residents" and similar in Wikipedia articles are subject to some restrictions. Specifically, we normally expect each person named in such lists to be prominent enough to have their own article in Wikipedia already. The links in these lists then show as blue, not red, on the page. An exception can be made when the entry includes references to independent coverage, sufficient to show that a Wikipedia article could be written about the person and would be retained. The guideline to follow is "Notability", which is briefly explained here. Thank you for your efforts to improve Wikipedia and sorry that, in this instance, they have had to be reverted: Noyster (talk), 12:43, 23 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thank You.[edit]

Yes, that's right. Now I understand. Thank you very much for your guidance. (Dinura Pradeep Balasooriya (talk) 17:02, 4 December 2014 (UTC));[reply]

Minor edits[edit]

Please don't mark edits as minor unless they actually are minor, according to WP:MINOR. Jackmcbarn (talk) 16:50, 20 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I duck my head![edit]

I'm sorry that it was again my stupidity only. I'm still learning, you know. So, I'm grateful to you for your help. Thank you very much. That mistake will never happen again. Regards. Dinura Pradeep Balasooriya (talk) 07:14, 21 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Latha Walpola requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.asiantribune.com/node/85826. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Understood. I'll follow the guide lines. Thank you. Dinura Pradeep Balasooriya (talk) 22:57, 29 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

December 2014[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Pyrotle. I noticed that you recently removed some content from Latha Walpola without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; I restored the removed content. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. If a page is nominated for speedy deletion, you are to NOT blank it in any way. Pyrotlethe "y" is silent, BTW. 23:00, 29 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Ignore this; I didn't notice it was you who created the page in the first place. :| Pyrotlethe "y" is silent, BTW. 23:04, 29 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It's OK. I'm quite tired now. :) Thank you very much. I'll do it later on.

Disambiguation link notification for January 4[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Dharmasiri Gamage, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Cinema. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 08:59, 4 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Dinura Pradeep Balasooriya requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Wikipedia is not for writing about yourself[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia, but it is not a place like Facebook or LinkedIn for people to write about themselves. It is a quite different sort of site, a project to build an encyclopedia, so it is selective about subjects for articles, and writing about oneself is strongly discouraged, for reasons explained at Wikipedia is not about YOU and Wikipedia:Autobiography.

Wikipedia user pages are not like those at social-networking sites. Their use is explained at WP:NOTWEBHOST:

"Wikipedians have their own user pages, but they should be used primarily to present information relevant to working on the encyclopedia. Limited biographical information is allowed, but user pages should not function as personal webpages or be repositories for large amounts of material that is irrelevant to collaborating on Wikipedia. If you are looking to make a personal webpage or blog or to post your résumé, please make use of one of the many free providers on the Internet or any hosting included with your Internet account."

  • I'm blocking you because you are one of several accounts (User:Harshasd, User:Samithaathula, User:Textlover, User:Lkwikie) that have come to Wikipedia to create articles about Dinura Pradeep Balasooriya. You've created the article under a different name, possibly to evade the article being salted at its main location. Please understand that this is seen as disruptive and is also seen as spamming Wikipedia. You can seek an unblock, but you must show that you will not try to re-introduce the page (or any page related to yourself) to Wikipedia, either under this account or under another. Deletion discussion about Latha Walpola[edit]

Hello, Dinura Pradeep Balasooriya,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Latha Walpola should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Latha Walpola .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Thanks, Fiachra10003 (talk) 18:46, 4 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Fiachra10003: Hello Fiachra10003,
First of all I would like to thank you for your information. Even I created that biography, to be honest, I cannot guarantee whether the information given by that article is true. I collected those stuffs from my local community and referred some news articles as well. A several of them is available online too. But the article is not a just copy-paste of any of them. And the blog page which you witnessed is not a reliable primary source and the primary source seems to be this one - http://www.asiantribune.com/node/85826 - which I had given under the References. But I believe that it still doesn't disturb anyone deleting the article. Please kindly consider that my opinion here needn't identified as a suggestion for keeping that article. It is not! Thank you. What I've done.[edit]

@PhilKnight:

  • I let my wife to use my PC to create articles about myself.
  • Used a several accounts for editing because I was unable to realize that it was against the Wiki policy and forgot the passwords to log-in.
  • Allegedly accused an admin (AntanO). Dinura Pradeep Balasooriya (talk) 20:21, 31 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@PhilKnight: Pardon, one more thing. Once I moved the user page to see what happen. It was speedy deleted by an admin, I cannot do remember who deleted it. Dinura Pradeep Balasooriya (talk) 20:35, 31 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
