puzzled[edit]

Hartslane, Beatrice Catanzaro, Seph Lawless... is a single hand weaving this web? Is there a way to sort this out? It feels smoky. E.M.Gregory (talk) 11:09, 30 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@E.M.Gregory: it's fairly common to see WP:walled gardens when it comes to promotional articles. Galleries create articles on their artists; startup incubators created articles on their companies, etc. See for example: List of Y Combinator startups or WP:COIN. An editor has asked for a deletion review of Rika Tachibana. Because you closed the deletion discussion for this page, speedily deleted it, or otherwise were interested in the page, you might want to participate in the deletion review. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 03:48, 4 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

GOCE Requests-page limit[edit]

K.e.coffman, you just added a third and fourth request to the page, but the limit is two requests per editor at any one time. Please remove two of your requests (your choice of which). You can make a new request once a current request has been completed. Thank you for your cooperation. BlueMoonset (talk) 08:18, 18 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Copyediting notice[edit]

I have often noticed that some copy editors often go over the top and in many cases are sometimes simply substiuting for their own preferred personal style of text. Being a member of the GOCE (I am one) doesn't give them any authority over other editors. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 03:40, 20 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • I do not really understand why editors would request a copyedit if they were then going to revert it all back to their version. It seems the copyedit I did was an unmitigated waste of time. I regret spending my limited wiki time on that instead of something productive. Disagree—fine. Just tell me instead of leaving an ambiguous message on my talk page and restoring your own version. There are, by the way, some real issues that still remain, eg linking twice to the same page. Sb2001 01:52, 21 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Happy holidays to you too[edit]

User group for Military Historians[edit]

Greetings,

"Military history" is one of the most important subjects when speak of sum of all human knowledge. To support contributors interested in the area over various language Wikipedias, we intend to form a user group. It also provides a platform to share the best practices between military historians, and various military related projects on Wikipedias. An initial discussion was has been done between the coordinators and members of WikiProject Military History on English Wikipedia. Now this discussion has been taken to Meta-Wiki. Contributors intrested in the area of military history are requested to share their feedback and give suggestions at Talk:Discussion to incubate a user group for Wikipedia Military Historians.

Your redirect of Pivotal Labs to Pivotal Software[edit]

I agree with your merge but would appreciate that you would perform the merge and not simply delete the article and redirect it. That would require a successful AFD or PROD. It isn't a speedy. I think it should definitely be merged, but you need to migrate the content from one article to the other. Thank you! Andrevan@ 01:47, 22 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Andrevan: thank you for your message. I responded on the target article's talk page: Talk:Pivotal_Software#Redirect of Pivotal Labs. Would be happy to continue the discussion there. K.e.coffman (talk) 01:53, 22 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Intergation of Jefferson Davis Park[edit]

Just to let you know, I have been updating links to all the Confederate monument sites and the Sons of Confederate Veterans to reflex the existence of the park page you were so helpful in creating. Thanks again. C. W. Gilmore (talk) 05:50, 12 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks again for all you are doing, my only concern it violating the 3RR rule in trying to maintain the content. I don't care if it gets changed about as long as it still adds up to the same thing. Thanks again. C. W. Gilmore (talk) 01:16, 16 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@C. W. Gilmore: No problem. I've asked the other editor to step away from the article. You might want to do the same with Ridgefield, Washington, in the interest of keeping the peace. K.e.coffman (talk) 01:42, 16 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, even though I've only made a suggestion on the Talk page, it seems like I got a hostile response and it's not like Ridgefield, Washington will be going anywhere. I can see that Jefferson Davis Park, Washington is not perfect and I'm happy to improve it which I hope, will be the effect that comes from this very critical view that it is currently going through. I can hope for something good to come of all this, and thanks again for the help. C. W. Gilmore (talk) 01:49, 16 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the help, but I feel, this is only a bit of quiet before the next storm. I sense that [2] and [3] and the AfD are just the warm up for things to come. Anyway, thanks for the help. C. W. Gilmore (talk) 15:01, 16 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@C. W. Gilmore: Lets hope it won't continue. For now, it appears that the editor is trying to just rile you up, so it's best to ingore him. BTW, if you are thinking of creating any new articles, please feel free to ping me about their notability. I may be able to help determine whether the subjects would be considered notable here. K.e.coffman (talk) 00:34, 17 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

With your help things appear to be coming together, thanks. I did want to create another article but within 10hrs of me stating as my on Drmies' TP, it showed up Rose City Antifa like magic. They were the ones that vandalized the Jeff Davis marker stones so I thought it would be a decent transition. Anyway, it's published and that gives me something to start working from. Thanks again for your help. P.S. It takes a lot to unsettle me and other editors have not come close, I will continue to be as polite as my sarcastic nature allows as that one is not worth the effort to get upset. Thanks C. W. Gilmore (talk) 10:08, 26 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Sorry to bother you, but am I handling the current situation with Talk:Jefferson Davis Park, Washington correctly? C. W. Gilmore (talk) 19:09, 18 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
    • I am most troubled by the mass deletions of John and now Anmccaff, but some of the WikiProject categories that Dimi added are a stretch for me to understand, like WikiProject Public Art. I added them back in because I thought that deletion should be on a case by case basis, not en masse. Thanks C. W. Gilmore (talk) 19:23, 18 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • @C. W. Gilmore: I restored three and commented on the Talk page: diff. I would advise for you not to get involved in this matter. Talk page is not visible to readers, so it's really immaterial. Not worth getting into an edit war over. Let Dimadick and John figure it out :-).
Have you considered getting a mentor? I've seen a page of an editor who offers "user adoptions": User:FiendYT/Adoption. I can ask them for you, or you could ask yourself. Please let me know what you think. K.e.coffman (talk) 01:15, 19 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, I will take your advise. I normally work on historical stuff that doesn't raise much conflict, but this stuff with Anmccaff is starting to annoy as I don't see much logic in the changes. I will leave the WikiProjects to the others and now that the page is protected, I can get back to work on African Americans in Maryland where I'm only up to the civil rights section of the history. C. W. Gilmore (talk) 01:47, 19 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Question -I was thinking of asking Deisenbe to look at [4] for an outside opinion on the number of images for this article. I have waited to respond to think about it and 5 images does not seem to be "too much" given my research on why this park exists, but I thought it best to ask before I post my thoughts or before I ask Deisenbe for an opinion. Thanks C. W. Gilmore (talk) 16:05, 22 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello:

The copy edit that you requested from the Guild of Copy Editors of the article Erich Hoepner has been completed.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Happy Holidays to you as well.

@Twofingered Typist: thank you. Much appreciated! K.e.coffman (talk) 23:40, 23 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Were you planning on taking this to GA, A-Class, or FAC? Did you want a copyedit with that in mind or was there some other reason for requesting a copyedit from GOCE? I'm happy to look it over and tweak if you'd like. I'm not the world's best copyeditor, but I can generally do a decent job towards GA. And I have the advantage that I at least know the material... (and have some of the sources as well as others that might be useful.) Ealdgyth - Talk 21:54, 23 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
