M&M Proyectos

Hi Ugranucci. I would like resolution concerning the recently created M&M Proyectos article. M&M has been invited to art forums all over Europe and America, and has collaborated with museums and art centers on both sides of the Atlantic. Keep in mind that Puerto Rico is a tiny island, it's conceptual and avant-garde art scene is thus relatively small when compared to equivalent scenes in places like New York, London, or Beijing, but that in no way means it is held by Puerto Ricans themselves to be any less important. M&M Proyectos can hardly be compared to the Saatchi Gallery in London, but when one comes from a place of relative insularity, such as Puerto Rico, to be able to exhibit art at the prestigious Spanish ARCO forum on contemporary art is a very impressive achievement indeed. The point is that M&M Proyectos is a uniquely important Puerto Rican avant-garde artists' collective, which has proven its efficacy in introducing the work of the island's artists to the world at large, and for these reasons should and is considered a notable part of the modern history of art in Puerto Rico and beyond.216.137.71.180 19:20, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

United Church of God

Hi Vgranucci. I'm curious why you moved my addition ("Another flavor of controversy is at the other end of the scale. Some Christians, for example the United Church of God, argue that the pagan origins of Christians, as well as the secular and pagan components of the manner in which Christmas is celebrated, is an inapproriate manner to commemorate the birth of Jesus.") deep into the article. Maybe it should be shorter, but some flavor of it belongs (I think) in the summary at the top, since there are distinctly different flavors of "Christmas controversy", and the current text (incorrectly) asserts that it only refers to what I would call the "PC" version (e.g. let's not talk about Christmas lest we offend people). --Psm 02:25, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

Qaasim Middleton

I removed the db-bio tag you put on Qaasim Middleton. To be fair, I had already put one in there, (and quite possibly for the same reasons as you) but it seems to refer to a character on a Nickolodeon televsion series. Just so you know. Flowerpotman talk-wot I've done

Thanks for catching that mistake! You were right, I used Fossati's template but just forgot to switch the names. Tajm 14:55, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

Just a quick note, you changed the intro to this article from "Kubb are a British band." to "Kubb is a British band." . However using wikipedia's policy on version of english relating to the articles subject, this article should be written in British English and not American thus "are" is correct in this case and not "is". Hi, just noting that Zarah Garde-Wilson is a notable, if not notorious, personage in Australia because of her involvement (whether professional or personal) in the Melbourne gangland killings. Unfortunately I don't have the time to source a lot of material that says "ZGW is on the news a lot and most adults in Melbourne and many in the rest of Australia would recognise her name and/or face". More to the point, I wouldn't know how to find and source it :-( I think she rates as notable, much as the lawyer for (say) the Menendez brothers would. Would you be interested in removing the "notability" tag? Cheers, --Ossipewsk 23:30, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

db bio tags and newbies

Hello. Thanks for doing some newpage patrol. You recently left this message on a user talk page after (correctly) placing a {{db-bio}} tag on a short bio page. Just in case you're not aware of this, you could consider in these situations using the template {{userfy warning}} which is appropriate when you suspect that a newbie like Nosmileshere is likely to be simply writing on his/herself in the wrong namespace. In cases where the mistake is obviously done in good faith, it also helps to leave a {{welcome}}, just to avoid bites. Cheers, Pascal.Tesson 06:20, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

"list of pictures I've uploaded"

Hi hi,

I'm not sure what is wrong with having the list? It's simply for my purposes, remembering what pictures I have uploaded under what names so that when I'm browsing articles if I find a place where one might be used I can find it quickly and easily. It is small and takes up very little bandwidth. Please explain yourself before you attempt to delete my userpages! Thank You,

Lock+Load article for review

You've tagged my article on Lock+Load for speedy deletion. I'd like an opportunity to discuss it with you.

Here's my case: I've extensively referenced scientific sources which all prove that the product has merit beyond marketing as a first of its kind peptide nutritional supplement and a revolutionary advancement in sports nutrition as a whole. Just because the product happens to be a consumer product and not a vaccine does not make it any less significant. Although the product will not save your life, it is my hope that it will improve the performance of talented athletes and mainstream America alike. If everyone was drinking this as opposed to high fructose corn syrup, America would be a healthier place. Yes, it is not very well know, but that is why it needs to be in an unbiased public forum like Wikipedia. There are plenty of smart athletes and physiology experts out there who are doing research as we speak and could take a lot from an article like this. I believe it is noteworthy and deserves to be seen.

Please tell me your point of view and we'll go from there.--Spiralnotebook 02:23, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

There are three types of wikispam: advertisements masquerading as articles (clearly this article's intention is to educate and inform in scientific terms--there is no way this could be misconstrued as mainstream marketing), wide-scale external link spamming (there are no external links on this article), and "Wikipedian-on-Wikipedian" spamming or, "canvassing" (also known as "internal spamming" and "cross-posting") (there are very few internal links and the ones that do exist go straight to legitimate wiki articles). Articles considered advertisements include those that are solicitations for a business (in no way do I solicit the reader to buy a product), product or service, or are public relations pieces designed to promote (the article describes in scientific language a concept, method of nutrition delivery, and how this is an improvement over the old method--a public relations piece would attempt to explain this in layman's terms) a company or individual. Wikispam articles are usually noted for sales-oriented (not sales oriented) language and external links (no external links) to a commercial website. However, a differentiation should be made between spam articles and legitimate articles about commercial entities (to a certain extent, this describes this article).

Also, keep in mind that my article has a total of 15 different verifiable reference all of which have been published in scientific journals. The fact of the matter is, many esteemed scientists have conducted years of research on this subject and a product finally coming to market after 10 years of research is definitely noteworthy. Ten years in the career of a scientist is about 1/3 his career.

I strongly urge you to see that I am not gratuitously advertising. I don't even include external links. I'm just documenting a nutritional technology which has finally come to fruition after a decade.--Spiralnotebook 02:34, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

I'd like to note that I find it distressing that you've gone ahead and deleted my article without even responding to my posts. I think I made a good case for myself that at least warrants your reply. --Spiralnotebook 04:07, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

Would you like to help?

Hello, I have been noticing that almost each conservative blog and commenter has an article on wikipedia but liberal ones dont. Even blogs that dont exist any more like allahpundit have big articles. IMO the RW wiki editors have done a very good job promoting their people and sites and blogs on Wiki. Much better than the liberals! I guess we're too worried about real issues to write all the self-promotion! I was reading some comments and I discovered that there is no wiki article for the very important website and blog newshounds.us. It tracks Fox news and other RW media, and is very regarded like Mediamatters. Its from Robert Greenwald of Outfoxed. Would you help me write this article in my Sandbox a little before I move it to the 'mainspace'? I was advised not to put it there as a 'stub' as the RWs who watch me wil 'AFD' it in a NY Minute. I was advised that it would be better for me to stay away from the high profile 'battleground' articles where I get into fights from being provoked and write new content and edit articles where there are no giant wars. I will not edit Larry Craig again for now, for instance. This seems like good advice. Any way, I started the article here, and you could really help. newshounds sandbox Thank you. smedleyΔbutler 19:15, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

Milan Hlavsa

Hi, I'm the guy writing the page on Milan Hlavsa (the bassist from the PPU). I'm new to wikipedia, and writing this for a class that deals with the fall of communism in eastern Europe in 1989. In the Hlavsa page, I fully intend to flesh out the article and explain Hlavsa's significance both to the Plastic People (and their importance to Charter 77, Havel, and thus the fall of communism).

If this gets deleted, it's going to be a pain to rewrite.

Just give me a few days, and then I'm sure you'll see the relevance of what I'm doing. I intend to add my sources and other things as I learn how (as I said, I'm new to wikipedia).

So please!!! Stop flagging it for deletion!!! I really appreciate it.

Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Thesandman2099 (talkcontribs) 02:20, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

Shovel Bird

Why did you delete Shovel Bird? It's really a real thing that people enjoy to do and watch in the great state of IOWA. YOU might not have heard of it, because it was only on the local news and not California news. Iowa was a state before California, so I think we have a little credibility here. But, really. I want to share the great sport of Shovel Bird with your wikipedia. There's a whole WIKI of people that like this sport! There were dozens of people at the tournament and it was ON THE NEWS. I heard Iowa State University is starting a team. Why do you dash my dreams? I thought this environment would help me spread the word. Do you want me to send you the newspaper aricle? Give me your address and I will send it to you in the mail.

In conclusion, Shovel Bird is a game where two men dig a hole. Then one man releases a dove and the other man tries to hit the dove with a shovelful of dirt. Then, the dove gets hit by dirt and falls in the hole. Then they bury bird. Then the shovel guy (shovel birder) won!

Still. Why even tag it? It's a real thing!
Then I suppose that my next question would be...did you tag it because you thought it was nonsense, or because you didn't think it was notable enough to be on wikipedia? Because you tag said "nonsense." NOTHING about how it's not notable. Now I am confused? Which is it? AND, if it's because you didn't think it's notable, how do YOU get to make the judgment call? Because it's VERY popular...and was IN the newspaper. Does that mean it is not notable?
But which is it? Nonsense? or not notable?

Vgranucci, thank you for your feedback. Based on your comments, I have added two references from the Chicago are print media (Chicago Tribune and Daily Herald). Filomena

Hello, I am the creator for the page entitled 'Filomena.' This page should absolutely not be deleted. It is the biography of a young New Jersey girl who will soon blow up to be a star. She is a rising contender on New York's underground comedy circuit and will also soon be releasing a movie and clothing line. Her page may come off as a joke, but it is only because of her sarcastic nature and comedic roots. It was made in all seriousness and should absolutely not be deleted. This page will be fought for and I will see to it that no one removes it. She is a legitimate talent.

gDiapers update help

HI Vgranucci,

I have tried to update the new gDiapers page I am trying to establish to remove any possible advertising-- my warning was ("It is blatant advertising for a company, product, group, service or person that would require a substantial rewrite in order to become an encyclopedia article. (CSD G11)").

I am new to posting on Wikipedia and would appreciate any comments on my attempt to correct my page's content.

As I mentioned in my talk page-- I modeled my page based on the content of the Pampers and Huggies diapers pages. The reason I want to post the page is that I use gDiapers on my son and have had many others show interest in what they are. My entry is not meant to be spam and I do not work for gDiapers-- just trying to provide the information for others who are interested.

Am I allowed to link to the FAQ's page of the companies' website?

Thanks for your time and assistance,

Lee

Help - OddPawn article

Hello. I made an article about an online riddle called OddPawn and it was tagged for speedy deletion. The only (and most reliable) source I have is the game's page. Pretty much everything I wrote on the page comes from the game's site, which was written by the creators themselves. I do realize more sources are required, but the way I see it, the creators' comments/text on the subject is reliable, and the article is not meant to be spam or an advertisement. My only intention in creating the article is to define and give some relevant data about OddPawn. We (OddPawn players) use Wiki so much for so many different things (to solve levels) that I thought I might as well make an article for it. Anyway, feel like I am going on and on here. the point is, I'd like the article to stay. What do I need to do to prevent it from getting deleted?

Also, I am new to all this editing stuff, sorry if I did anything wrong with this Talkpage :-) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Muzzy64 (talkcontribs) 08:12, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

Greetings from the League of Copyeditors. Your name is listed on our members page, but we are unsure how many of the people listed there are still active contributors to the League's activities. If you are still interested in participating in the work of the League, please follow the instructions at the members page to add your name to the active members list. Once you have done that, you might want to familiarise yourself with the new requests system, which has replaced the old /proofreading subpage. As the old system is now deprecated, the main efforts of the League should be to clear the substantial backlog which still exists there.
The League's services are in as high demand as ever, as evinced by the increasing backlog on our requests pages, both old and new. While FA and GA reviewers regularly praise the League's contributions to reviewed articles, we remain perennially understaffed. Fulfilling requests to polish the prose of Wikipedia's highest-profile articles is a way that editors can make a very noticeable difference to the appearance of the encyclopedia. On behalf of the League, if you do consider yourself to have left, I hope you will consider rejoining; if you consider yourself inactive, I hope you will consider returning to respond to just one request per week, or as many as you can manage. They aren't cities (even though "Harbor City" has the name "city" in it). They're neighborhoods of Los Angeles. The naming convention you cited a) doesn't apply to neighborhoods; and b) doesn't apply to big cities like Los Angeles. Does my move of Reseda, Los Angeles, California to Reseda, Los Angeles and the proposals I made to change the other neighborhoods' names make sense to you now, since they're cities? (Perhaps enough to change your vote? ;-) ) Purplebackpack89 (Notes Taken) (Locker) 21:55, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 01:18, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for July 13

Hi. When you recently edited Saint Sarah, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Maximin (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Disambiguation link fixing one-day contest

I have decided to put on a mini-contest within the November 2013 monthly disambiguation contest, on Saturday, November 23 (UTC). I will personally give a $20 Amazon.com gift card to the disambiguator who fixes the most links on that server-day (see the project page for details on scoring points). Since we are not geared up to do an automated count for that day, at 00:00, 23 November 2013 (UTC) (which is 7:00 PM on November 22, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the project page leaderboard. I will presume that anyone who is not already listed on the leaderboard has precisely nine edits. At 01:00, 24 November 2013 (UTC) (8:00 PM on November 23, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the leaderboard at that time (the extra hour is to give the board time to update), and I will determine from that who our winner is. I will credit links fixed by turning a WP:DABCONCEPT page into an article, but you'll have to let me know me that you did so. Here's to a fun contest. Note that according to the Daily Disambig, we currently have under 256,000 disambiguation links to be fixed. If everyone in the disambiguation link fixers category were to fix 500 links, we would have them all done - so aim high! Cheers! bd2412 T 02:09, 18 November 2013 (UTC)

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Ruth Buzzi may have broken the syntax by modifying 2 "()"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. New deal for page patrollers

Hi Vgranucci,

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.

Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.

Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:29, 13 November 2016 (UTC)
