Madonna entertainer FAC

Hello Hamilton, thanks for your comments at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Madonna (entertainer)/archive1. I believe I have addressed most of your comments, except the one about the French Canadian descent, for which I have one question. Will you reconsider going back to the article once more? Much of the structure has been changed, incorporating more direct quotes from Madonna, expansion of the Evita segemnt as well as expanding on the influence of Kabbalah and others. --Legolas (talk2me) 09:05, 26 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your assistance. I'm thinking some more about the issues you've raised, eg. re names. I'll see what I come up with. regards, hamiltonstone (talk) 10:03, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Self-identification

Hi, there are quite a few posts by people who are not familiar with the concept as it relates to aboriginality. You may wish to look in and comment. There's been the expected graffiti thrown in, very very quickly reverted I'm pleased to see. Tony (talk) 09:45, 31 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Firstly, great work on the article - a really impressive read. Secondly, you have much more patience that I have with the questions raised on the talk page! I wish I could remain as rational as you have. Cheers, Mattinbgn\talk 00:28, 1 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I just re-read my comment on the talk page. Just so it is clear, my references to "octoroon" were meant to be sarcastic and not in any way a serious suggestion. I hope it came across that way. Cheers, Mattinbgn\talk 00:48, 1 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
yes, i can assure you that was clear - to me at least! As to remaining polite - my model / reminder was Tony1, who was even more polite than I managed to be. He made a good point - that for some people (perhaps living in countries without Indigenous populations or major ethnic minorities for example?), the idea of "self-identification" may be an unfamiliar one. I actually think that is only partly relevant. But many readers (as distinct from active editors) might also be unfamiliar with key policies and guidelines such as WP:V and WP:RS, and therefore also not understand that the language isn't just chosen by article editors, but is based upon the sources. That helped me (more or less) keep cool. But it wasn't/isn't easy at times. Cheers, hamiltonstone (talk) 01:21, 1 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, nice work on handling the talk page. "Hopefully this article will help people understand that not all Indigenous Australians can be found travelling through the desert scrub, chasing goannas, or giving directions to Crocodile Dundee." *applauds* If only it didn't have to be said... Ref 1, the interview. Iridia (talk) 06:08, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I replaced it and added a ref to the interview at the relevant point. Please hammer away at it :) Should we ask Malleus to come back and reread the article now? Iridia (talk) 09:33, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the very nice barnstar! And congratulations on the FA. Great to see the article promoted, after all your hard work in its research and writing. Iridia (talk) 06:26, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Hamiltonstone!

Hello Hamiltonstone! At first I want to know how what are infoboxes. I've a big collection of weird facts. How can i contribute them to Wikipedia? I usually create much of my articles at Wikinews. I just try to edit some of the articles at English and Hindi Wikipedia. You can talk to me at Wikinews. And I liked your User Page too! Those userboxes were cool, as much as mine. Possible Creation of WikiProject Tayside and Fife

Hi! It would appear that you are a regular contributor to articles regarding Tayside and Fife. I have proposed the creation of WikiProject Tayside and Fife to improve the quality of all of the articles which fall into the scope of the project. I would hope that you and other contributors would like to indicate their interest in the project. If you would like to join please add your name on WikiProject Council/Proposals/Tayside and Fife. If the project gets a reasonable amount of interest I will create a draft of the WikiProject (after consultation with editors who are interested) in my userspace and then will create the WikiProject. Little Thetford (FAC)

You kindly commented on Little Thetford at FAC, thank you. I believe I have adressed all of your concerns, or tried to, at least. However, I may not have adressed them all to your satisfaction. I would appreciate you taking a look at your convenience --Senra (talk) 17:30, 15 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your FAC review of Little Thetford. I really appreciate the time you have spent. You have seen the effort I have put in, and I suspect you can gauge how keen I am to see the process through. I notice you have struck as complete your comment commencing "Not sure what others think about the issue, but there is no reference for the following: 'The last public house in Little Thetford...'". However, I sense you are still unhappy. I have reviewed the offending paragraph, and I am prepared to strike the relevant minor details, if it will help. Please advise.
I copy here what will be removed...

The Three Horseshoes, now a residential property, was one of seven public houses, known to be within the village boundaries since the mid-19th century. The British Beer and Pub Association estimated in 2001 that "six rural pubs close each week". There was a public house at Little Thetford, the Fish and Duck, situated along the river nearer Stretham; it closed sometime during 2006, and the owning company dissolved on 11 May 2010. There is a combined newsagent, post office, and grocery store in Stretham, 2 miles (3.2 km) south of the village. The one remaining local store is the recumbent bicycle shop, D.Tek, on the main street.

--Senra (talk) 19:02, 18 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Senra, on balance I am happy enough with the work-around solution you have come up with there, so don't delete it. The reason I have struck my oppose but not switched to support is that I haven't properly been through other parts of the article, and I'm a little short on time at present. i still however hope the FAC will succeed. hamiltonstone (talk) 23:45, 18 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Minnie Pwerle

Thanks for the changes you've made. I've passed the article, so well done! I just tweaked the birth date in the infobox because the template doesn't seem to like "c.". I just removed the template, I don't know if there's maybe a workaround for it. Regards, --BelovedFreak 12:36, 16 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

FAC

I actually routinely review Acdixon's stuff, but I haven't gotten to that one (or indeed any other FAC yet). Actually, I did take a quick look today at yours, and will review it if I get a chance...but in any event, I prefer to avoid tit-for-tat arrangements, since it's a short leap from "you review my article and I'll review yours" to "you support my article and I'll support yours". Thanks for the suggestion, though, and especially for your review. Steve Smith (talk) 01:09, 19 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

To add to that, in my ten FAC attempts, I've never had one archived for lack of reviews, so it's probably only fair that that happen to me sooner or later, considering how often it seems to happen to others. Steve Smith (talk) 01:10, 19 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Parity of zero

Hi Hamiltonstone, I hope you aren't too retired. :-) I've made some changes to Parity of zero in line with your comments at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Parity of zero/archive1. (It's not entirely done; for example, the lead could still use work.)

Could you please drop by Talk:Parity of zero#Leftover FAC line items and say if you see an improvement? I'm not looking for another full review at this time; I'm just trying to measure progress.

Thanks, Melchoir (talk) 20:27, 25 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Request

Hi, Hamiltonstone, because you're an experienced reviewer and nominator at FAC, I wonder whether you would be able to judge The Signpost's "Choice of the week" at the end of next week's "window", UTC end Friday 20 August. It would mean writing a short statement of your choice and the reasons behind it on Saturday or Sunday. Please let me know. :-) Tony (talk) 08:05, 12 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Tony, very nice to be asked and happy to help, but can't if it means doing it exactly then. I'll be mostly offline from UTC Thursday morning to Monday night (Thursday night until Tuesday morning in Oz) I could do it Thursday day in Australia, but if that's too early, then perhaps you could rope me in to do a future issue? hamiltonstone (talk) 10:30, 12 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The following week, then? That would be 28–29 August. Tony (talk) 11:54, 12 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I should be good to do that. Leave me a note or a pointer to where I find the right 'list' of which to choose from, and where to leave the short statement. Regards, hamiltonstone (talk) 12:06, 12 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Oops, and I got my diary dates mixed: will you be available instead on 11–12 September? If so, I'd buzz you to remind a few days before. Tony (talk) 10:48, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
That's looking OK at this stage. Ping me. hamiltonstone (talk) 08:21, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Hamiltonstone, I wonder if you wouldn't mind reviewing the above article at FAC, if you have the time? I've seen you've reviewed school articles before, and I doubt many will be forthcoming in reviewing this article. Thanks in advance. Tom (talk) 09:46, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
