In India, aviation can be classified as civil and military aviation. Civil aviation is regulated by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) which recognizes 34 (as of 2021) Flying Training Organisations (FTO) for imparting flight training and six (including one in Singapore) Aircraft Type Training Organisations / Approved Training Organisations (ATO) for type rating.[1] In Indian Armed Forces, beside Indian Air Force, there are aviation branches in Indian Army (Army Aviation Corps), Indian Navy (Indian Naval Air Arm), and Indian Coast Guard, who train officers at their military establishments.
