Haplogroup H5 is a subclade of Haplogroup H (mtDNA).
It is the forth oldest subclade of Mtdna haplogroup H after H1, H2, and H6.[1] It is most common in Wales and Piedmont [2] [3]
Subclades
The two subclades of "subclade H5" are H5* and H5A and H5A can be further divided into H5A1. Subclade H5 is defined by T16304C in the HVR1 region and minorsubclade H5A is defined by T4336C in the control region[4]
