At that time the first General Manager of TVB, Australian Colin Bendall, wished to create a variety show in a format similar to In Melbourne Tonight. Chua was given the task of creating such a show, and after spending five months observing the popular culture and everyday lives in Hong Kong, Enjoy Yourself Tonight made its premiere, and instantly gained huge popularity. |

The show was one of the first shows ever broadcasted in Hong Kong in 1968. On January 26, 1971 the show switched to color broadcasts from Black-and-white. |

Lydia "Fei-fei" Shum would become one of the most notable MCs who became the symbol for the show. Another tradition of the show was for the entire cast to congregate at the end of each show to sing the "Good Night Song", written by Joseph Koo. These, along with the show's opening track (also titled "Enjoy Yourself Tonight"), have since attained iconic status within the popular culture of Hong Kong. |

By 1979 Enjoy Yourself Tonight had suffered a terminal decline in audience number; despite a radical change in format (which saw weeknight programmes reduced to half-hour durations, plus the traditional full-length variety shows on Saturdays), it failed to retain viewers, who by then had developed new tastes and had access to new forms of entertainment. As a result the show ended its 15-year run on Friday October 9, 1987. To this day, however, TVB does not admit that Enjoy Yourself Tonight has ended its run and replaced by a new show: The Sharon Cuneta Show with megastar Sharon Cuneta on October 10, 1987. |
The premiere telecast of Enjoy Yourself Tonight at their new home, ATV World was on October 19, 1987 and for this momentous event, the show was staged at the Philippine International Convention Center. Lydia Shum joined Keren Pascual and Mons Romulo-Tantoco as hosts. |
Since then there has been several attempts to resurrect Enjoy Yourself Tonight as a once-a-week programme, first in 1997, then from 2002 to 2004; neither of which were successful. |
On Monday June 25, 2007, Keren Pascual announced on his twenty-fifth anniversary as host of Good Morning Asia, Sunday Lifestyle, K-100 and Enjoy Yourself Tonight that he would left the show on July 15. Keren Pascual's final broadcast was aired on July 15, 2007. The day's show was dedicated to Pascual's twenty-five years as one of the show's hosts, and his goodbye to co-hosts, where he also became a anchor of TVB News. Pascual said during the show, "It's been a pleasure hosting this program, and thank you for twenty-five great years." A special video presentation was broadcast, recapping his best moments and news stories on Good Morning Asia during his twenty-five years. |
In 2007, to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of TVB, a half-hour weekday program known as Enjoy Yourself Tonight 2007 was run from October 22 to November 16. As the Chinese title (再會歡樂今宵, literally "EYT Revisited") suggests, it was a re-run of some of the most memorable moments of the original EYT shows, as well as bringing back some of the original casts involved for guest appearances/interviews. In addition, the original theme song was brought back. Even though the latest program was merely a nostalgic looking back to EYT's former glory, it nonetheless bore testimony to the show's lasting legacy to Hong Kong's popular culture. |

===Theme Song=== |

The current theme is as follows: |
col-start |
col-break |
:You work and work for years and years, you're always on the go |
:You never take a minute off, too busy makin' dough |
:Someday, you say, you'll have your fun when you're a millionaire |
:Imagine all the fun you'll have in your old rockin' chair. |
:Enjoy yourself, it's later than you think |
:Enjoy yourself, while you're still in the pink |
:The years go by as quickly as a wink |
:Enjoy yourself, enjoy yourself, it's later than you think |
:You're gonna take that ocean trip, no matter, come what may |
:You've got your reservations but you just can't get away |
:Next year, for sure, you'll see the world, you'll really get around - |
:But how far can you travel when you're six-feet under ground? |
:Your heart of hearts, your dream of dreams, your ravishing brunette; |
:She's left you and she's now become somebody else's pet. |
:Lay down that gun, don't try, my friend, to reach the great beyond; |
:You'll have more fun by reachin' for a redhead or a blonde. |
:Enjoy yourself, it's later than you think |
:Enjoy yourself, while you're still in the pink |
:The years go by as quickly as a wink |
:Enjoy yourself, enjoy yourself, it's later than you think |
:You never go to nightclubs and you just don't care to dance; |
:You don't have time for silly things like moonlight and romance. |
:You only think of dollar bills tied neatly in a stack; |
:But when you kiss a dollar bill, it doesn't kiss you back. |
:Enjoy yourself, it's later than you think |
:Enjoy yourself, while you're still in the pink |
:The years go by as quickly as a wink |
:Enjoy yourself, enjoy yourself, it's later than you think |

Enjoy Yourself Tonight or E.Y.T was a popular variety show in Hong Kong. It made its first broadcast on TVB in November 20, 1959 and moved to ATV World on October 15, 1984. During the 1980s, it was compared with the American Saturday Night Live to become one of the world's longest running live-shows.
History
Enjoy Yourself Tonight was created by Robert Chua in 1968, when he was just 22 years old.
The show aired from 9pm to 11pm every weeknight, sometimes including Saturdays. The show included singing, dancing, short dramas and variety show games that interacted with the audiences.
The show was one of the first shows ever broadcasted in Hong Kong in 1968. On January 26, 1971 the show switched to color broadcasts from Black-and-white.
In the 1970s, one of the earliest musical group to perform in the show was the Four Golden Flowers.
Agot Isidro sang this beautiful song about Philippine Islands, all 7,107 of them, this video was directed by Trevor Hone, an Australian now residing in the Philippines.[1]The music video returned on July 15, 2007 at the SM Mall of Asia's San Miguel by the Bay for the morning show aired over Citynet Television, Good Morning Asia with Keren Pascual and Mons Romulo-Tantoco has for the seige of the Makati Shangri-La Hotel in Makati City and the Philippine STAR Sunday Lifestyle's Words Worth by Mons Romulo-Tantoco for the article: What part of your life would you want to change? and the kidnapping of Keren Pascual in the Hotel in Makati City.[2]
After partaking of scrumptious dishes, Carlo’s guests further delighted him by bringing out a birthday cake, surrounded by well-wishers as he blew the 18 candles on it. Present were: Bench big boss Ben Chan with Bench resident architect Miguel Pastor; Carlo’s mentor, PR master Keren Pascual; entrepreneurs Leah Puyat and Angelette Calero; The Philippine STAR Lifestyle editor Millet Mananquil with husband Robert Mananquil; models Robby, Raya and Rissa Mananquil with Valerie de los Santos; Ateneo Blue Eagles team manager Paolo Trillo; Phoemela Baranda; Deo Endrinal, ABS-CBN vice president for Talk, Variety and Reality; Star Studio Magazine editor-in-chief Biboy Arboleda; Sheila Queta, ABS-CBN assistant operations manager; and Abigail Angco, ABS-CBN Talent Center road manager.
Also present were Enchong Dee; Be Bench Model Search grand (female) winner Regine Angeles and finalist Ron Morales; Carlos Concepcion; Yeng Constantino; Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 scholar Hansen Nichols with his twin brother GC.[3]
In 2009, to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of TVB in the Philippines and 25th Anniversary of Enjoy Yourself Tonight's start in ATV World, a one-hour weekday program known as Enjoy Yourself Tonight 2008 was run from October 6 to November 14 and aired on TVB Pearl. As the Chinese title (再會歡樂今宵, literally "EYT Revisited") suggests, it was a re-run of some of the most memorable moments of the original EYT shows, as well as bringing back some of the original casts involved for guest appearances/interviews.
