The 2010 Arkansas United States Senate election will be held on November 2, 2010 along other elections to the United States Senate in other states as well as elections to the United States House of Representatives and various state and local elections. Incumbent Senator Blanche Lincoln was re-elected with 56% of the vote in 2004, a year when President George W. Bush carried the state easily and GOP candidates nationwide won in what was termed as a GOP year. Arkansas has elected only one Republican Senator since Reconstruction, who was defeated in 2002.

Straw Poll
The Republican Party of Arkansas held a straw poll for the current Republican candidates for U.S. Senate. This was modeled after the famous Iowa Straw Poll. The results were as follows:
1. Gilbert Baker 35% 2. Curtis Coleman 33% 3. Conrad Reynolds 23% 4. Tom Cox 4% 5. Kim Hendren 2% 6. Fred Ramey 2% 7. Buddy Rogers 1%
There were over 1300 votes cast and the event was held at the Arlington Hotel in Hot Springs, Arkansas. The event was sponsored by the Republican Party of Arkansas and the Gilbert Baker's campaign, which also provided lunch for the event.
After outraising all the other candidates combined by a nearly 3:1 margin, Baker was expected to win 50% or more of the vote; his small win has detracted from his "frontrunner" status.
National pollster Scott Rasmussen conducted a survey of this race on December 1, 2009, suggests that State Senate Majority Leader Kim Hendren (who did not participate in the straw poll) is the frontrunner. Hendren fared the best in a head-to-head matchup vs. incumbent senator Blanche Lincoln, leading her by 7 points, 46-39%. Baker led Lincoln by 6%, Coleman led by 4% and Cox by 3%. [1]
The Republican primary election will be on May 5, 2010.
Independent
General election Campaign
Despite not having a candidate, the National Republican Senatorial Committee is targeting Lincoln, criticizing her for supporting the 2009 stimulus bill and upon announcing that Vice President Joe Biden would help her kick off her reelection campaign.[6]
