Template:Big Brother Contestant Kate Louise Lawler (born 7 May 1980 in Beckenham, London) was the first female winner of Big Brother UK, winning the 2002 third British season of Big Brother. Since then Kate has worked as a television presenter and personality, a model and now hosts Kerrang! Radio's Drive Time show weekdays from 4pm-7pm.

Career since Big Brother

In September 2002, Lawler became a DJ on Capital FM, a position she held until December 2003. She co-presented the Channel 4 breakfast TV show RI:SE from February 2003 until it was axed in December of that year. In 2005, she was one of the competitors in the ITV show Celebrity Wrestling, competing under the name The Brawler. She helped her team, the Warriors, win the team championship, and got to the semi-finals of the individual competition, being beaten by fellow model Leilani Dowding.

Kate has modelled clothing for Arsenal FC, of whom she is an avid supporter.

Kate appeared on Love Island 2 and came third top female in the final of the show. She protested that she didn't want to win after only joining her island friends for the last 2 weeks of the show due to DJ commitments [1].

Kate has appeared on Brainiac: Science Abuse, receiving an electric shock in an electric chair. She was also presenter on Playdate, a late-night dating programme on [[ITV2] with the irish funny man Brendan Courtney][2]. In addition Kate has been a columnist for the UK-based celebrity gossip magazines OK! and New.

Kate has since been working hard building up her reputation as one of the UK's top female DJ's and currently travels in the UK and globally for her work. Her DJing has taken her to Europe and Japan, and is monthly resident at Manchester club Sankeys. Her first EP was signed to one of the world's biggest dance labels [1] "Toolroom Records" and went down a storm. All 3 tracks on the EP are available to buy on Beatport which is the worlds leading music download website for DJ's.

Kate has also appeared in various men's magazines, including Loaded, Front, Nuts and Zoo. On 24 July 2006 Ann Summers announced that Kate would be the company's new model in its lingerie advertisements. This was an extremely successful campaign for Kate and Ann Summers.

In 2007 Kate appeared on the BBC comedy Rob Brydon's Annually Retentive.

On 1 October 2007 Kate joined Kerrang! Radio, co-presenting the breakfast show, The Morning After alongside Tim Shaw from 7:00-10:00 am. When Shaw was suspended from the station on 23 April 2008, Kate temporarily helmed the breakfast show on her own until Shaw's dismissal was confirmed. At this point, on 12 May 2008, Kate moved Kerrang!'s afternoon show Drive!4:00pm-7:00pm, which she presented on her own until OJ Borg joined the show as her co-presenter on 27 October 2008.

On 26 January 2008 Kate returned to Big Brother as a hijacker for a day in the new show Big Brother Celebrity Hijack. She ran the Flora London Marathon on 13 April 2008 with her best friend, both Kate and her friend ran the Marathon in Ann Summers lingerie to raise £5000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust [3]. She ran the London Marathon again in 2009 for Cancer Research and managed to raise £2000 by running in fancy dress again with her friend - this time as Tarzan and Jane.

Kate currently presents Kerrang! Radio's afternoon show alone after the departure of OJ Borg in October 2009. Kate appeared on Hole in the Wall in the autumn of 2009 and won the £10,000 which she kindly donated to Cystic Fibrosis - a charity very close to Kate's heart.

Personal life

On 26 January 2007 Lawler was banned from driving for six months after being caught speeding at 92mph in a 60 zone in Ugley, Essex. She received a £1,100 fine and three points, pushing her over the 12-point limit resulting in the ban[4].
