2022 (MMXXII) will be a common year starting on Saturday of the Gregorian calendar.

2022 Winter Olympics to be held this year. The host city will be decided in the summer of 2015.
FIFA's World Cup will have its 22nd edition. Australia, Japan, Korea Republic and Qatar have officially lodged bids for the event. While England, USA, Russia, Spain/Portugal and Netherlands/Belgium have lodged bids for both 2018 and 2022 FIFA world cup. The host nation will be decided in early December 2010 and will be a non-European nation.
