Cantillon

Hey Mac, long time no see. I tried to look over the article, but to be honest it's somewhat far outside my safety zone of MILHIST. The biography stuff was fine, but I just started glazing over with the economic theory doodahs as I don't really understand a word of economic theory. However, economics aside, it looks like a polished and well-researched article, so I can't see it having any problems. If you do ever decide to do some more MILHIST work, ping me if you need a review or some copy-editing. I'm not hugely active, but I'll make sure to spare some time. Skinny87 (talk) 06:17, 28 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome back

Been a long time Mr. Catalan. It's good to have you back.

Also, I'm gradually reading my way through a lot of your articles both at Mises and Economic Thought. You clearly know your stuff, though I am finding myself disagreeing with large chunks of it (which I suspect is mostly due to ideological differences. Socialists and Libertarians don't tend to see domestic economic policy along the same lines...). Irregardless, welcome back to the 'Pedia. Cam (Chat)(Prof) 03:16, 29 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Things are good on my end. I've just started into my first year of a double major in Global Politics and History at Carleton University, which is great fun, but lots of reading, writing, more reading, more writing, and even more reading etc etc. I'll be around the wiki as much as time allows. Adopting

Hello! I'm an advanced English student looking for adoption :-D Being a Wikieditor is part of a class project and I'd really appreciate your help. I love Economics! though right now I am up to writing on business. Please let me know if you are interested. Best regards! Papita Naranja (talk) 07:05, 4 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

:-D

Thanks!
Well, my goal is to write an article on business good enough to be on WP. That is good in English and content of course.
I still don't know what it would be about, the topic is part of the project. So if you come up with any suggestion it would be great :-D I'm on it too.
Right now I try to understand how WikiProjects work. Maybe there is where I can place my future article.
If you could help me with some advice first on what you believe a good topic would be for WP (based on your experience, I mean, for it no to be deleted afterwards :( ) I would appreciate a lot. Then I could start my research. Be sure I'll come to you and ask for your opinion.
That's for starters :-D
Thanks again!

Hi! As I'm still getting familiar this wikitricks to contact people around, I answered your message in my page. I wanted to ask you where do you prefer us being in touch, your page or mine. Whatever is more practical and comfortable for you is OK. I heard about an app or template that lets you know when your message has been answered in someone else's page but i don't know if that would be useful or convenient besides that I don't know how to use it. Have a nice day! :-D Papita Naranja (talk) 19:40, 8 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

M22 Locust

Not a huge amount to be honest, as all the info is in there that I can find. It just needs a good copy-edit to make sure it passes FAC criteria for that. Might have to check all the references have the i's dotted and the t's crossed. But at the moment I really don't feel upto doing an FA; I'm trying to get back into wiki, but FAC is a harsh business at the best of times. Skinny87 (talk) 08:08, 4 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I don't have Flint with me at the moment, which contains the lions share of the info on the Locust, but I can get it out of storage in a little while. Did you want to take it to FA at some point then? Have we finally lured you back to MILHIST? Skinny87 (talk) 08:13, 4 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
December seems like a god time to take it to FAC, plenty of time for me to re-gather my sources and get it copy-edited. Shame the grant didn't come through for you - what is the source, by the way? Was it hugely expensive? Skinny87 (talk) 14:24, 4 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, finally going for the Rif War at long last, eh? I'm reading up for Operation Ironclad, the invasion of Madagascar in 1942, which I'm hoping to start writing in a little while. Skinny87 (talk) 14:43, 4 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, just writing up your successful FAC when I wondered, from your user name, whether you're active on any foreign FAC pages. We are always on the look-out for contacts in these sibling processes, not least to ask local experts to be guest judges for our Choice of the week. Tony (talk) 05:17, 7 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for replying (actually, I thought you'd be more likely to do Catalan WP stuff). Tony (talk) 06:23, 7 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

An update from adopt a user

Hi there Catalan! You may be wondering, what have I done to sound the alarm this time? Nothing. I'm messaging you in regards to the adopt-a-user program, which currently has a backlog of users wishing to be adopted. This doesn't make much sense, as we have a considerable list of users offer adoption, so there shouldn't be any backlog. I've begun to eliminate this backlog myself through a matching program, but I need your help to make it work. Of course, adoptees and adopters don't have to go through there, but I believe it helps eliminate the backlog because someone is actively matching pairs.

On the list of adopters, I have modified the middle column to say "Interests." It's easier working with other users that have similar interests, so if it's not too much to ask, could you add your interests in the middle column? For example, if I was interested in hurricanes, computers, business, and ... reptiles? I would place those in the middle column. Counter-vandalism and the like can also be included (maintenance should be used as the general term). The more interests, the better, since adoptees can learn more about you and choose the one they feel most comfortable working with. The information about when you're most active and other stuff can go into the "Notes" section to the right.

Finally, I've gone around and asked adoptees (and will in the future) to fill in a short survey so adopters can take the initiative and contact users they feel comfortable working with. We all know that most adoptees just place the adopt me template on their user page and leave it - so it's up to us to approach them and offer adoption. So, please take a look at the survey, adopt those that fit your interests, and maybe watchlist it so you can see the interests of adoptees and adopt one that fits your interests in the future.

Once again, thank you for participating in the adopt-a-user program! If you wish to respond to this post, please message me on my talk page.

Second Siege of Svetigrad (1449)

Hi there and thanks for your review in Second Siege of Svetigrad (1449). I tried to address your concerns and did some copy-editing: I believe Gaius will be around to continue and make some more improvements. Could you please see if I have correctly made my changes? --Sulmues (talk) 16:58, 11 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks and suggestion

Thanks for the great article on Richard Cantillon! We need more great articles on economists in wikipedia, which I think is a weak point for the project. If you want to tackle a big project that needs lots of help, try to get Adam Smith to GA or FA status. The Wikiproject Economics team tried it once and couldn't make it happen. But maybe you can. Thanks for all your hard work and please keep it up. It is very much appreciated. Remember (talk) 13:25, 12 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello :-)

Hello! came by to tell you we are working on El Tepeyac National Park article. If there´s a chance, we would appreciate your help and advice :-), Mr. Prez as well is mentor of a pier's involved in this same article. Best Regards.

Would you revisit?

Jon, you're the only outstanding comment at Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/Assessment/Sviatoslav's invasion of Bulgaria. Would you mind revisiting? -MBK004 07:07, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wow!

Hey! thank you very much :-D I already wrote in the discussion page for my piers to look at and answer. If you see, I also told them about your way of working WP. Still we don't know either if this is going to be a large project. Maybe if we find enough information related we can do an article like the ones you do. If so, we'll let you know, we could really use your advice :-) We'll be starting today, our first assignment is our outline.

The article Richard Cantillon is scheduled to appear as the main page featured article in the near future

Hello! This is a note to let the main editors of this article know that it will be appearing as the main page featured article on October 30, 2010. You can view the TFA blurb at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/October 30, 2010. If you think that it is necessary to change the main date, you can request it with the featured article director, Raul654 (talk · contribs). If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page so Wikipedia doesn't look bad. :D Thanks! Thanks for the review! I think that's the first time I've ever had a "hands-off" GA nomination :-)

I saw your note about the sourcing. This was my original worry about the article (well, that and how to handle 1940s racial terminology, which can be awkward) - I really wasn't sure if it would pass or not given the limited sourcing. The main problem is that there's not much else out there - they mostly get passing mentions in general histories of the early-1945 fighting, and those mentions are usually either trivial (they merely confirm what Lee covers in more detail) or personal recollections so riddled with errors as to be of very dubious validity. Always a difficult call! Shimgray | talk | 19:16, 20 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Richard Cantillon and Ballyheigue

You have done a great job on improving the article on Richard Cantillon. Kudos for that!

I have noticed several unsourced claims in the Ballyheigue article that relate to Richard Cantillon or the Cantillon family more generally. If you should happen to have sources that would source the assertions, it would be helpful if you would take a look and consider adding them. Cheers. N2e (talk) 05:33, 31 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I saw your work on Richard Cantillon, and your post on the Mises comment thread about working on Human Action next. I'm always looking for FACs to review that interest me, so if I can be of any help let me know. --Spangineerws (háblame) 12:23, 1 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm so sorry! i'm a rather new editor and didn't thought that that wikibreak talked about in the last review was a permanent one. My sincere apologies. I was going to re-nominate it, but i barely did any work on it at all (just the niggles mentioned in the review) so i was apprehensible about it. I think it would be best that you re-nominate it as early as possible and if the reviewers detect any issues i could pitch in in fixing them. Good luck!--Macarenses (talk) 05:56, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
