Wow! Another "Did You Know?" section with a baseball question. Come on guys every day there is a baseball question in "Did You Know?" Can we please just go one week without a baseball question in that section? thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.173.145.125 (talk) 23:53, 3 November 2011 (UTC)

;Bill Smith
Tumbling into a Peat bog is not, in and of itself, fatal. He may have died after such an event, or even because of it, but not directly from tumbling. Kevin McE (talk) 07:32, 4 November 2011 (UTC)
:Suggestion? Any fall can be fatal, and there is no clarity on exact cause in the article or its sources. "After" might imply he fell there and died later, elsewhere. Materialscientist (talk) 07:55, 4 November 2011 (UTC)

Strange-sounding DYK hook
(re-posted from Wikipedia talk:Did you know#Strange-sounding hook at 15:00, 4 November 2011 (UTC))

The lead hook in DYK sounds a bit strange. Shouldn't there be a "which"?

*"... that Scandinavian influence in Scotland, still evident today (pictured), was probably at its height during the time of Thorfinn the Mighty?"

*"... that Scandinavian influence in Scotland, which is still evident today (pictured), was probably at its height during the time of Thorfinn the Mighty?"

In addition, I didn't understand the picture's relevance immediately; that might have to be elaborated a bit.

Revision as of 00:08, 5 November 2011

To report an error in content currently or imminently on the Main Page, use the appropriate section below.

 • Where is the error? An exact quotation of the text in question helps.
 • Offer a correction if possible.
 • References are helpful, especially when reporting an obscure factual or grammatical error.
 • Time zones. The Main Page runs on Coordinated Universal Time (UTC, currently 17:47 on 15 October 2024) and is not adjusted to your local time zone.
 • Can you resolve the problem yourself? If the error lies primarily in the content of an article linked from the Main Page, fix the problem there before reporting it here. Text on the Main Page generally defers to the articles with bolded links. Upcoming content on the Main Page is usually only protected from editing beginning 24 hours before its scheduled appearance. Before that period, you can be bold and fix any issues yourself.
 • Do not use edit fully-protected on this page, which will not get a faster response. It is unnecessary, because this page is not protected, and causes display problems because this is not a talk page. (See the bottom of this revision for an example.)
 • No chit-chat. Lengthy discussions should be moved to a suitable location elsewhere, such as the talk page of the relevant article or project.
 • Respect other editors. Another user wrote the text you want changed, or reported an issue they see in something you wrote. Everyone's goal should be producing the best Main Page possible. The compressed time frame of the Main Page means sometimes action must be taken before there has been time for everyone to comment. Be civil to fellow users.
 • Reports are removed when resolved. Once an error has been addressed or determined not to be an error, or the item has been rotated off the Main Page, the report will be removed from this page. Check the revision history for a record of any discussion or action taken; no archives are kept.

G20

Is France necessary? There aren't any other Cannes I know of. Hot Stop talk-contribs 17:18, 3 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Most of our authors think so. Almost all Wikipedia articles in this Google search mention "France", "French", or the Alpes-Maritimes department – either in the same sentence, at the first mention of Cannes, or in the lead. Art LaPella (talk) 18:45, 3 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Tunisia

I just noticed that the Tunisia item refers to "Tunisia's first Constituent Assembly election held since the country's revolution." There do not appear to be plans for further Constituent Assembly elections; normally constituent assemblies disband when the constitutions they create go into effect. Should we take the "first" out?--Cam (talk) 23:51, 2 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
