Referencing style
Would you please look at the references I have done so far on this: John Crackstone ? Have more to enter but they are not URIs, at least I do not expect any more URIs. Oops, had to fix something. Thank you. Mugginsx (talk) 17:45, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
- No attempt made to deduplicate - twenty fours refs boils down to just nine. I have now given you John Crackstone, Edward Tilley and List of Mayflower passengers as examples of how to deduplicate. In future I may moan but will not fix them for you. Google Books link was wrongly formatted so that it came out looking like this: [1]. The Crackstone and Tilley articles both contain curious broken links to an IP address. I have highlighted them with ++++. Please fix. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 21:18, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
- I have been spending hours learning how to reference the URIs the way you showed me. I have now changed them on two articles and am now working toward going backward to all of my articles. I have not had time to learn to deduplicate and I do not know if I even can or want to. I am just getting better at the first thing you taught me.
- I appreciate all that you have done for me in teaching me the URIs. I knew nothing of programming before I came to Wikipedia and have been sick with cancer two times in the intervening times. I use it to relax and try to do my best. If my work is inferior I am sorry and will constantly try to make it better to the best of my ability. Thank you. Mugginsx (talk) 22:16, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
Unprotection
Almost exactly three years ago you protected Dogeared from creation for spamming reasons. Well, since then an AfC has been submitted and one the strength of a few articles I think it would be acceptable. Would you be okay with unprotecting the page and the acceptance of the article? I'll take care of the move if you decide to unprotect (got some fancy AfC tools that do extra stuff). Thanks in advance, Nolelover Talk·Contribs 18:19, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
- Whom are you trying to kid? The AfC submission has been rejected by three different people. I will act when the draft has been accepted at AfC and the person doing the acceptance comes here and requests unprotection (or, if they are an admin, they may unprotect it themselves). — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 06:55, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
I am accepting it. However, moving the page to mainspace is the only way to actually 'accept' it. Sorry for not making that clear. I am an AfC reviewer (see here and here for some evidence of my work with the project) and after a request by the the creator at the project's help desk I decided the article would be acceptable, though obviously not perfect. As you can see, another AfC regular (User:Pol430) endorsed the decision. It is a common misconception that AfC reviewers cannot simply accept articles if the submission has been previously declined or is not technically 'submitted' at the time. I assure you those are both false, and what I am asking is not out of order in any way, shape or form. Thank you, Nolelover Talk·Contribs 11:17, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
- So why did you and Pol430 leave the rejection tags in place? Unprotected. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 14:00, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
- Partially because it is just generally done to help the editor know what's wrong with their submission, and partially because then the AfC bot doesn't come by thinking it hasn't been submitted yet and automatically add it to the backlog. Thanks for the help :) Nolelover Talk·Contribs 14:12, 13 April 2012 (UTC)

Yesterday morning, you deleted the above article on the grounds that it is a hoax. The article had been prodded on the grouns of unreferenced and non notable. The article had been created the day before it was prodded. I thought the article was a good faith attempt to fill a hole, so to speak. Therefore I objected on the grounds that the prod was to quick and the article should be left a little while to allow for improvements (it being too close to my bedtime to do any more). About an hour later I got a message from a "friend" of the prodder asking for an explanation. About 40 minutes after that, you deleted the article anyway, so as it stands, there is no means of rectifying any problem whether real or apparant. Who actually determines whether an article is in fact a blatant hoax or not? Any way, I have a reference that would support the article and the information stated within it (and the correct information if the information given is in anyway inaccurate). I would appreciate it if it were possible for the article to be undeleted so that its deficiencies can be rectified. Op47 (talk) 12:39, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
- It would have been just as easy to start again from scratch. But I have restored it to User:Kutekierra/sandbox. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 14:00, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
- Having stripped out some dubious-looking stuff and then Prodded it as unref and non-notable (do we need an article about every single given name? Probably not), I was surprised to see it deleted as a hoax: (a) PROD would have given the original editor a week to find sources or otherwise justify its existence, and (b) it certainly exists as a name, as there are two WP articles on people with it. All a bit strange. PamD 16:15, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
- Thankyou for undeleting the article. It is appreciated. Also for the benefit of anyone reading my request above, "friend" means I can't think of a precise word to describe the person and yet I needed to describe the person. The 2 people are not necesserily actual friends. Sorry for any confusion. Op47 (talk) 17:38, 14 April 2012 (UTC)
A42
I know, I got so lost in the maze of A42 redirects to the Northern Ireland road (I struggled even to find the original article) that I panicked! Thanks for picking up the pieces Jimfbleak - talk to me? 16:28, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
Request for undeletion
I request that you undelete Glucojasinogen (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views). As you will be able to ascertain from the archived discussion on Jimmy Wales' talk page, it was judicially created. It was also tagged with {{R from other namespace}} which would also have been a heads-up about this. __meco (talk) 21:41, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
- What on earth does "judicially created" mean? We are recommended to avoid self-reference. Even as a redirect, I felt it violated that recommendation. Feel free to raise the matter at deletion review. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 22:43, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
What I meant is that this is a highly unusual situation. It is the documentation of a case where a vandal's insertion of fictitious information has been plagiarized by two peer-reviewed scientific publications. I inform you of this per your question just in case you didn't appraise yourself of the discussion on Jimbo's talk page. I'm basically citing WP:IAR for this exceptional matter, and I was hoping you would see that this is in fact an excellent axample of where this guideline is needed. For that reason I await your reconsideration before going to deletion review. __meco (talk) 22:59, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
- I have reconsidered. Go to deletion review. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 23:03, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
- Instead of vague waffle, I might have been better moved by facts. The page view statistics suggest that the page was being viewed on average just over once each day. I will let the DRV discussion take that into account. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 23:26, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
- Incidentally, why on earth raise the matter at user talk:Jimbo Wales? Would it not be better to contact the people who actually make editorial decisions? — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 13:35, 14 April 2012 (UTC)
I think you are confusing something. I'm not sure what you are referring to. __meco (talk) 15:27, 14 April 2012 (UTC)
- Not sure what I am referring to? I am referring to the utterly inappropriate use of Jimbo's talk page to raise the matter. Since when did Jimbo make policy round here? The only confusion was that I thought you had started the discussion there. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 18:38, 14 April 2012 (UTC)
- Either you didn't read the section on Jimmy Wales' page or you have misunderstood what you read. I don't find your description of it congruent with reality. __meco (talk) 19:04, 14 April 2012 (UTC)
Vedat Akman
Hi, In some of the discussion page you said that page probably created by Vedat Akman himself. I must say that it isn't true. Plase remove your message. Thanks. Bir Miktar Bilgi — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bir Miktar Bilgi (talk • contribs) 12:29, 14 April 2012 (UTC)
- I only said "probably". You are at liberty to refute my allegation at the places where I have made it. Your refutation will carry more weight if you disclose your true identity, but I must stress that doing so is entirely optional. You could also disclose what is your interest in or connection with Vedat Akman. Incidentally, you may care to contact Beykenthoca (talk · contribs) who made some cack-handed attempts to protest the deletion of these articles. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 13:24, 14 April 2012 (UTC)

BE@TKiCKEDiN
It has come to my attention that you have been deleting an article I have worked for hours and hours on and have not saved at all. I demand you restore the article for its original purpose. You also noted to me that the page had no reason to it and was not important when I clearly stated that the article was put up as the content on the article was clearly notable and about a famous musician and YouTuber who has thousands of subscribers and has recorded in the world's most famous recording studio. I demand that my article is put back up onto Wikipedia and that you start doing your job properly instead of making teenagers think they have done something wrong. Good day. BE@TKiCKEDiN (talk) 12:57, 14 April 2012 (UTC)
- I am willing to e-mail you a copy of your text but: a) tell me which article you are talking about and b) read this. You have recourse to deletion review. Please moderate your language. Phrases such as "users like you disgust me", "banned from posting on this page" or "demand you restore the article" will simply antagonise people against you. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 13:24, 14 April 2012 (UTC)

Beykenthoca
Mobbing is when you intimidate people about things or put them on spot. Asking any one their identity or asking them to disclose themselves ? Have you looked at the updates made on all pages before insulting people and accusing them ??? and for what for god sake ? (Beykenthoca (talk) 17:29, 14 April 2012 (UTC))
- Re personal details: did you actually see the words "stress that doing so is entirely optional". There are hundreds of updates being made every hour. Obviously it is impossible for me to look at all of them. But why are you wasting your time moaning at me? I made some helpful suggestions on your talk page and I see that you have not acted on any of them. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 18:38, 14 April 2012 (UTC)
Block evasion by Beatkickedin?
Hi, I am trying to clean up one of Beatkickedin's creations, Charli XCX, and have started to clear out a lot of the junk (she is slightly notable though, I have checked), I noticed this IP 78.150.136.35 adding stuff, if you check the contributions it's *only* to articles that Beat created, ok so only four edits so far, but would appear to be the same user. Thought I would point this out to you rather than going to ANI, this could become problematic if the IP takes umbrage at my article pruning. Cheers! CaptainScreebo Parley! 11:33, 15 April 2012 (UTC)
- Agreed, almost certainly the same. Problem with blocking: those edits were less than 24 hrs after my blocking Beatkickedin with "autoblock any IP addresses used". This implies that the kid had changed to a different IP address from that which he had used when logged in. See also 78.147.64.107 (talk) - same ISP also editing Charli XCX. In short, blocking may be pointless - he will just change to a new IP address. But I shall watch it and please let me know if you detect any more - especially if it involves personal attack. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 23:21, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

Evisible
You have deleted my entry for my company [Evisible, doubly spammed at Evisible integrated media], I understand that you are ensuring that Wikipedia content remains of good quality, so I would be grateful if you give me some pointers on how to do it properly, I have no interest in creating an overtly promotional page just a description of the business. I have tried adding references but the editor doesn't seem to recognise the <references /> or {{Reflist}} tags that I have deployed. I am sure you are very busy, but any guidance you can offer would be gratefully recieved. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dcbreeze (talk • contribs)
- It is an hallmark of spammers that they cannot be bothered to learn wiki markup or even look at how other articles do things. Kindly have the decency to wait until someone with no COI thinks your company is notable and writes about it. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 12:59, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
I'm sorry but I think my company is notable enough for an entry in as much as it is actually a company registered in the UK and providing services to other organisations around the world, I have accepted your point on COI and advertorial content and have attempted to remove promotional content and talk just about the type of organisation we are in general terms and the history of our company.
I feel your tone and insinuation that I am a spammer after my request for constructive guidance is quite insulting and uterly subjective, you may personally not find my entry as interesting or notable, I could say the same about your page which seems to me to be aggressive towards and dismissive of new users of Wikipedia, even you were a newbie once. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dcbreeze (talk • contribs) 13:36, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
May I refer you to this guidance for editors. I will be seeking arbitration on this issue. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dcbreeze (talk • contribs) 13:57, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
- Which do you mean by "my page"? If you mean user:RHaworth, I would point out that it is in the user: namespace - it is not required to show notability. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 16:32, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
I have no interest in the notability or otherwise of your own page or whether notability is required for it, I do however take offence at your tone and your insinuation that I am a spammer and as such I will seek investigation of your practices as an administrator on Wikipedia and with regard to the slanderous nature of your comments on a public forum. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dcbreeze (talk • contribs) 08:46, 17 April 2012 (UTC)
Copyvio?
While patrolling new files, I ran across this File:Sukhbir - Self Portrait.png which appears to be an image of text. The text itself should be under copyright, so isn't this a copyvio, even if unintentional? I'm not 100% on this, thus I didn't tag for speedy. Dennis Brown (talk) 12:31, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
- Agreed. Also, it is a mis-use of images to use them for that which could be set as text. Please note the subtle : trick for linking to a file instead of using it. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 12:59, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
Can we please take off these names?
I think I have finished uniforming my URI references to the way they should be. Will re-check if not. Can we p l e a s e take off all but the first name on the beautiful nav template which is ruined by the additions of those other names since they were not Mayflower pilgrims and came later and therefore have no connection with the Mayflower? (Please be kind my nerves are not the best today ☺ . Really they aren't.) Thankyou. Mugginsx (talk) 16:00, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
Now you can yell. I meant the ADVERSARIES section only - all but the first name. The other names have nothing to do with the Mayflower. Sorry. Mugginsx (talk) 16:21, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
- Please learn to spell my username. Once and, hopefully, for all the usage of {{talkback}} is this: I have left a message on user talk:Example. Several days later Example gets round to replying. Being unsure whether I am still watching his page, Example places
{{Talkback|Example|section title}}
on my talk page. If you leave a message for me on my talk page, I will be alerted automatically. Adding a talkback tag to the message merely serves to suggest that you are a newbie. Do you get it now? Why do I have to change the template - at the time you were reverting my frivolous edit you could have removed the names in question. Why did you not do so? — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 16:32, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
Because I did revert them once and you put them back in. here April 13th. Did not know you were alerted immediately and did not need talkback tag. Mugginsx (talk) 16:43, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
- Your fault for editing anonymously - I assumed is was the work of someone ignorant of the subject. If you do the edit in your own name, I will not dare to touch it. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 16:49, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
It was an accident, and I usually ask before I revert an Administrator's edit but I know for a fact that some Wiki articles that say the subject was a Mayflower passenger are in error and I assume you picked up the information from one of those articles while making the template. I am trying to clean those up. I will not bother any further and Thank you. Mugginsx (talk) 17:00, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
- No, I found them already in place in Template:Plymouth pilgrims which had been lurking unused for four years. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 17:13, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
- I see. Well they are colonists who came on later ships to live at Plymouth and many moved to establish other colonies. There is a basic misunderstanding with the meaning of the word Pilgrims among Americans. The meaning of the term has changed in later years and is used more generally but it is historically incorrect and the earlier meaning (the meaning ascribed by scholars) is in the religious context i.e., the Separatists, all those who did not accept the Church of England. The rest were adventurers, and other people. The template is so good because it brings all of the Mayflower articles together for easy access to all readers, researchers, and scholars and for that I thank you very much Mugginsx (talk) 17:40, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
