Thanks. Any thoughts about where those emails might be going? I've used that feature before and the emails arrived as expected. I've checked my spam folders, junk mail, etc... they're not being misdirected, they're just not showing up at all. Thanks again!! |

Image tagging for Image:SantaAndPitch.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:SantaAndPitch.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

Hi, the speed can be changed by editing the gifs in imageready. the only thing I know close to a slideshow are templates, which you can add to the bottom of a series of images and then be able to click to any of them, see commons:Template:USA territorial evolution --Astrokey44 23:26, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:Numalogic.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Numalogic.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Numalogic.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Numalogic.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 01:58, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
county maps
okay, i will try to help. what did you want to do exactly? --Astrokey44 13:20, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
- I think it would be a good idea to ask Kmusser, who has made the maps of rivers on List of rivers in Georgia (U.S. state) --Astrokey44 09:17, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
- That sounds like one of those projects that would be relatively easy with GIS software, but a pain without it, so you may want to take the GIS plunge. There are free ones out there, I've heard good things about http://www.qgis.org/ though I haven't used it. All the data you would need is at http://www.nationalatlas.gov/maplayers.html (boundaries: state and county; map reference: cities and towns; water: streams and waterbodies). The waterfalls themselves you'd probably have to draw in, but that's not hard once you have everything else. If you do I'll be available to answer GIS questions, making maps is so much easier with it, and I'm always happy to help another person become addicted. Kmusser 14:57, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:DoRightCast.JPG
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:DoRightCast.JPG. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Gidney&Cloyd2.JPG
Thanks for uploading Image:Gidney&Cloyd2.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 22:08, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Goof Gas Attack, and it appears to be very similar to another wikipedia page: Banana Formula. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case.
This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 22:01, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Barberitos.jpg}
Thank you for uploading Image:Barberitos.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Elizabeth Harriot Wilson
May I ask why you moved Elizabeth Harriot Wilson back to the version with parentheses? As a person who needs a better social life, and who spams the Random Button WAY more than can be healthy, I must say I've never seen any page that has the middle name in parenthesis. Unless there's a section in article names that I've missed, shouldn't it be without parenthesis? -WarthogDemon 01:28, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
- As I stated on the "discussion" page, 'Harriot' is NOT a middle name. It might best be described as a literary alias. The historical figure was known as simply Elizabeth Wilson, with no middle name as far as I know. (Apparently a common thing at the time...look at all the presidents who didn't have middle names....) Anyhoo...it appears that as her story became increasingly fictionalized she came to be called "Harriot Wilson", and her brother William became "Amos Wilson". Neither Harriot nor Amos are middle names. The need to be set off with parentheses or maybe quotation marks (a la Larry "Bud" Melman) so that they don't look like middle names.
- We could check with an admin to be sure, but I'm 99% positive if that's the case, then the title should become something like: Elizabeth Wilson (folklore) and then at the beginning of the article it would read: Elizabeth "Harriot" Wilson". -WarthogDemon 05:44, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
- That'd be cool. PurpleChez (talk) 18:08, 13 June 2010 (UTC)

File source problem with File:Magicchristmastree.gif
Thank you for uploading File:Magicchristmastree.gif. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.
If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 21:25, 12 December 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 21:25, 12 December 2010 (UTC)

Please do not add or change content without verifying it by citing reliable sources, as you did to List of backmasked messages. Before making any potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Cresix (talk) 21:03, 22 March 2011 (UTC)
Please do not add unsourced content, as you did to List of backmasked messages. This contravenes Wikipedia's policy on verifiability. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Your edit fails verification by the only legitimate source you provided. And Wikipedia cannot source itself. Cresix (talk) 00:52, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
- While I could never fault you for insisting on quality, appropriate citations I thoroughly resent the arrogance of threatening to block me from editing based on a single citation that didn't pass muster. I've replaced the addition to the backmasking list, supported by a citation already used elsewhere in the same list and which also covers No Not Now/Won Ton On. I trust that I'm not gonna get run out of town on a rail for this one.... PurpleChez (talk) 03:22, 24 March 2011 (UTC)

Boone County WV, Notable Residents
Hey- I wanted to talk with you about Jeso White being a notable resident. Jesco, became notable because of a film that prettyy muchy portrays a West Virginian as a meth whore who occasionally goes out for fighting and fucking according to Jesco.....I dont see that as notable....His father, is an accomplished clogger, and does in some ways support a culture, its debateable if he is notable. As to Jesco, and his Notable Stature in Boone County, having been there, and lived in WV, I can assure you, Jesco has a cult following of folks BUT thats NOT notable......Coal town guy (talk) 13:39, 8 February 2013 (UTC)
- I respect the fact that you don't see Jesco as a role model, but the list is of notable residents, not necessarily role models. Yes, Jesco and D Ray are well known, in large part, thanks to a documentary that is an unintentional comedy, but the fact remains that they are well known, and arguably more well known that some of the others on the list. PurpleChez (talk) 14:42, 8 February 2013 (UTC)
- I agree. I hope in some way, that where ever you live, and have watched people grow old, and have buried their family members and have watched their churches grow ragged and have helped deliver their kids, that you too, can feel the pride and joy of having the whole world know about your local drug addicted hell raiser achieving fame and being called notable, while those who helped more people died in total non recognition....Its quite a thrill, and of course, "worthy" of any encyclopediaCoal town guy (talk) 15:02, 8 February 2013 (UTC)
- Every town has its share of screw-ups. But some of them are also famous. Fame doesn't change the fact that they're screw-ups, but neither do the screw-ups change the fact that they're famous.... PurpleChez (talk) 16:01, 8 February 2013 (UTC)
- Regardless of the fact that the people who work themselves to death in a coal town, die in total obscurity, are of course compared in the most favorable of light as they are not notable because they did not screw up. I am unable to use that locution. and unwillingCoal town guy (talk) 16:03, 8 February 2013 (UTC)
- Look...if you want to start a Coal Town Pride website, that would be great. I mean this quite sincerely...I'd be more than happy to head up into the NE PA coal country and bring back tales of the Molly Maguires, and Campbell's handprint on the wall of the jail in Mauch Chunk, and Centralia, and all of that.... PurpleChez (talk) 16:18, 8 February 2013 (UTC)
- It is not at all about pride. It is the uage of facts in a manner that is not encyclopedic. There is NO pride in the 2200 plus articles I have created. They are articles about place names. Ergo, if the community at large believes that Jesco White, is a Notable person in the context of a County History, fine, so be itCoal town guy (talk) 16:23, 8 February 2013 (UTC)
- That's not the way it works. The article about Boone County WV doesn't necessarily have to please the residents of Boone County WV--it needs to present facts. PurpleChez (talk) 16:56, 8 February 2013 (UTC)
- BUT, it does appear to "work" that way in Harrisburg PA on wikipedia, doesnt it? Which standard do we apply there? The funny thing is, I would not do that here, or anywhere. Well, thanks for letting me know what is and is not notable and how there are different standards for each state here in Wikipedia. No shame, no gainCoal town guy (talk) 17:02, 8 February 2013 (UTC)
- What the bloody heck are you even talking about? WHAT works that way "in Harrisburg PA on wikipedia"??? You would not do WHAT here??? I am quite serious...I can't follow half of what you're saying. PurpleChez (talk) 17:12, 8 February 2013 (UTC)
- Hey Coal town guy, do you understand the point of Wikipedia? It's about facts, not your foolish opinions. Nobody cares if you think that Jesco White is perpetuating certain stereotypes, that's totally irrelevant. The question is whether or not he is a notable Boone County resident, which he, of course, is. Hey PurpleChez, don't you know that it's pointless to argue with stupid/crazy people? They bring you down to their level, then beat you with experience. Booshmen (talk) 18:13, 8 February 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, its a fact. I can become an addict, dance, sing about fighting and fucking and be Notable.....WHILE showing the whole world, what a GREAT place Boone County is.........AND here is the kicker, people who have NEVER been there, get to learn, that the mighty standard of fame in Boone County WV is, get addicted, sing about fighting and fucking, and get filmed while you do it....BRAVOCoal town guy (talk) 18:18, 8 February 2013 (UTC)
- I think someone is really hung up about Jesco White's sex life.PurpleChez (talk) 18:48, 8 February 2013 (UTC)

Well, thanks for letting me know what is and is not notable and how there are different standards for each state here in Wikipedia. No shame, no gainCoal town guy (talk) 17:02, 8 February 2013 (UTC)
- That's not the way it works. The article about Boone County WV doesn't necessarily have to please the residents of Boone County WV--it needs to present facts. PurpleChez (talk) 16:56, 8 February 2013 (UTC)
- Every town has its share of screw-ups. But some of them are also famous. Fame doesn't change the fact that they're screw-ups, but neither do the screw-ups change the fact that they're famous.... PurpleChez (talk) 16:01, 8 February 2013 (UTC)
No, it cant. Yes, I saw the deleted comment about it cant...Neat huh? I wanted to request that you formally cease to be abusive in your language to me. While we do not agree, I agree to disagree, I have to date not personally insulted you.Coal town guy (talk) 19:32, 8 February 2013 (UTC)
- It's crazy neat. But I'll bet you didn't know that I originally typed that not in reference to the functioning of Wikipedia but in reference to your constant misspelling of the word "can't," which includes an apostrophe for heaven's sake. I deleted it because I thought that was snarky. Neat, huh? PurpleChez (talk) 19:47, 8 February 2013 (UTC)
- Brother, at no time have I spoken abusively toward you. I genuinely cannot understand much of what you're saying. PurpleChez (talk) 19:51, 8 February 2013 (UTC)

Harrisburg and Notable
Hey- Looking up notable things as it were for Harrisburg..Did you know the 2011 rape rate in Harrisburg was 4 times the National Average???? Notable for so may others Also the murder rate was triple the national average..hmmm AND Robberies were over 6 times the national average lots of notable things thereCoal town guy (talk) 23:37, 8 February 2013 (UTC)
Just found out that it was voted one of the 20 most dangerous cities in the US..NOTABLE certainlyCoal town guy (talk)
- Booshmen was right...you're nuts. I was trying to be a little more diplomatic about it until now, but you're nuts. I am fully aware of all of these unpleasant facts that you're citing, because I read the news every day...the city of Harrisburg has been in decline for longer than I've been alive. But because YOU want to deny or suppress the facts you don't like you assume that I must feel the same way. Guess what--I DON'T!!! I'm not happy that Harrisburg is a criminal hell-hole and a financial basketcase, but I'm not gonna go off on some jihad trying to get other people to retract simple statements of fact. You need a life, or medication, or counseling, or something. PurpleChez (talk) 13:54, 9 February 2013 (UTC)
- You forgot Harrisburg's fiscal crisis, all the problems with the incinerator, the broken water mains, the Wild West museum, the sinkholes. Here's a link to an article at NPR: http://www.npr.org/blogs/money/2012/08/31/160379247/inside-americas-most-indebted-city. Feel free to post any of this stuff anywhere. PurpleChez (talk) 14:03, 9 February 2013 (UTC)
- I LIVED THERE FOR 3 YEARS,I KNOW IT TOO. Its just IRONIC that these facts are NOT in the Harrisburg wiki article. I think THE WORLD needs to know this. Its a fact, the world needs to know...............JUST LIKE Boone County having a Notable boozer and drug addict on reality TV, being NOTABLE...AND I agree with you. I will not retract the fact AND I will not FORGET to publish the fact either....Coal town guy (talk) 15:45, 9 February 2013 (UTC)
- First off...that's not "irony." You not liking something doesn't make it ironic. All of these things that "the world needs to know" are already well-publicized, and some of them are in fact referenced in Harrisburg's wikipedia article. As for those items that aren't included, please feel free to add them. You still seem to be laboring under the delusion that I have the same desire that you have to deny unwanted facts. I don't. Your semi-coherent rage over a simple list is both comical and bizarre. And, for the love of almighty God, when you type a contraction, use the damn apostrophe. PurpleChez (talk) 16:19, 9 February 2013 (UTC)
- Actually it is irony. One of the poorest counties in the nation gets its hero in the form of a drug addicted dancer and the mighty Harrisburg does not display the fact that its one of the top 20 most dangerous cities in the entire United States.....SO, its either WV is so poor and its stereotypes are so accepted, everyone is all good with this, OK. BUT a glorious state cap, hush hush. The irony is that as money and prestige climb, published negative facts decline. UNLESS you live in WV.......How about a wager? I BET, that I could publish a negative set of facts, real facts about a city in WV, and good ol Harrisburg, will NOT have ANY of the data I have shown above....BUT, If the mighty place called Harrisburg, shows these facts (rape rate, crime rate, violent crime top 20 etc etc etc ), AND I display the negative facts about a city in WV, I will publicly note the wisdom of your way, declare you are the man, and of course beg for forgiveness.....Proviso, the data can't be removed.....EVERCoal town guy (talk) 16:42, 9 February 2013 (UTC)
- OK. Are you brain damaged? Seriously--is there a traumatic brain injury at play here? Which part of "I acknowledge that there are all sorts of bad things you could say about Harrisburg and I really don't give a damn if you say them" don't you understand? Or is this some sort of Andy Kaufmann thing? You're doing some sort of performance art, right? You can't really be this ignorant and this stupid. I added Jesco White's name to a list of people from Boone County WV (since he is, after all, from Boone County WV) and you've been sputtering for two days about stereotypes and crumbling buildings and meth whores and songs about fucking (???) and the "fact" of Newt Gingrich's shame at his gay daughter and lives of anonymity and teaching poor children to build websites and crawling through brambles. I've posted links to articles about the sorry state of affairs in Harrisburg and you're still yammering on like you've scored some major "gotcha" by zinging me (for the second time) with the stat about Harrisburg being one of the top 20 most dangerous cities (which I readily acknowledge as valid), and with your creepy, weird sarcasm about "good ol Harrisburg" and "mighty Harrisburg." You said you wrote 2200 wikipedia articles...are they all as much of a linguistic train wreck as your posts here? I mean...seriously...I am struggling to figure out what the heck you're babbling about in your closing "sentence" in the last post (BUT, If the mighty place called Harrisburg, shows these facts (rape rate, crime rate, violent crime top 20 etc etc etc ), AND I display the negative facts about a city in WV, I will publicly note the wisdom of your way, declare you are the man, and of course beg for forgiveness.....Proviso, the data can't be removed.....EVER). I know that a logical discussion is never going to come of this, but I still can't wait to see what logical and grammatical wonderland you conjure up next. And...no, it's NOT irony. You keep using that word...I do not think it means what you think it means. But--hey!--this is wikipedia, so you can look it up here. Hope you didn't miss 4 o'clock med call.... - I love you man, but as I thought, its OK to lean on WV, but grand great noble Harrisburg.....well, lets not get weepy, here come the water works....Coal town guy (talk) 22:30, 9 February 2013 (UTC)
- Never said anything about grand great noble Harrisburg. That's all you. PurpleChez (talk) 23:15, 9 February 2013 (UTC)

Help!

I've been unable to log into Wikipedia as registered user/editor for months. I have tried all of my usual passwords, and when they haven't worked I've used the "forgot my password" link. A box pops up telling me that an email has been sent to allow me to change my password, but it never actually shows up at my email inbox (or spam folder or anywhere else). I feel like I've picked through the website with a fine toothed comb but haven't found any solutions. I would appreciate if you might be able to assist me in getting logged on once again. Thanks!!
- Unfortunately there's no way to recover a forgotten password other than the "forgot my password" email. If that doesn't work you're out of luck and will have to create a new account. Huon (talk) 23:19, 26 November 2013 (UTC)
