The 2014 United States House of Representatives elections in New Jersey will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 to elect the 12 U.S. Representatives from the state of New Jersey, one from each of the state's 12 congressional districts. The elections will coincide with the elections of other federal and state offices, including an election to the U.S. Senate.

District 1

The first district is represented by Democratic Congressman Rob Andrews. Andrews is resigning from Congress effective February 14, 2014.[1] Democratic State Senator Donald Norcross is running to succeed him.[2] Logan Township Mayor Frank Minor may also run.[3]

District 2

The second district is held by Republican Congressman Frank LoBiondo. William Hughes, Jr., a former federal prosecutor and the son of former Congressman (and LoBiondo's predecessor) William J. Hughes, and former White House aide and staffer to President Obama David Cole are running for the Democratic nomination.[4][5] State Representative Louis Greenwald and State Senator Jim Whelan are potential Democratic candidates.[6] State Senator Jeff Van Drew had considered running[7] but decided against it.[8]

District 3

The third district is held by Republican Congressman Jon Runyan. Runyan announced his retirement on November 6, 2013, citing a desire to spend more time with his family.[9] Democratic Freeholder Aimee Belgard is running for the seat, and has been endorsed by Assemblymen Herb Conaway and Troy Singleton.[10] Steve Lonegan, the Mayor of Bogota, New Jersey, and nominee for the United States Senate in the 2013 special election, announced he will run for the Republican Party nomination.[11] Tom MacArthur, the ex-Mayor of Randolph, New Jersey, is also a candidate for the Republican nomination. [12] Evesham Mayor Randy Brown will not run however.[13]

District 4

The fourth district is represented by Republican Congressman Chris Smith.

District 5

Republican incumbent Scott Garrett won reelection in the fifth district in the 2012 House of Representatives elections. Redistricting made the district more competitive for members of the Democratic Party.

Roy Cho, a Democrat who has worked for the governor's office and Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, is running. He received an endorsement from Ghostface Killah.[14] State Senator Bob Gordon and Bergen County Freeholder Tracy Silna Zur are potential Democratic candidates.[6]

District 6

The sixth district is represented by Democratic Congressman Frank Pallone. It is considered a long-shot pick up opportunity for Republicans, but only if Pallone retires.[6]

District 7

The seventh district is held by Republican Congressman Leonard Lance. Democrat Janice Kovach, the Mayor of Clinton, New Jersey, is also running.[15]

District 8

The eighth district is represented by Democratic Congressman Albio Sires.

District 9

The ninth district is represented by Democratic Congressman Bill Pascrell.

District 10

The tenth district is represented by Democratic Congressman Donald Payne.

District 11

The 11th district is held by Republican Congressman Rodney Frelinghuysen. Mark Dunec, a management consultant, is running for the Democratic nomination.[16]

District 12

The 12th district is based in Central Jersey and includes parts of Mercer, Middlesex, Somerset and Union counties. The district is known for its research centers and educational institutions such as Princeton University, Institute for Advanced Study, Johnson & Johnson and Bristol-Myers Squibb. Democrat Rush D. Holt, Jr., who has represented the district since 1999, is retiring.[17]
