Kadambari Jethwani (born April 20) is an Indian doctor, Gujarat Higher Secondary Examination topper, and a hobby film actress & model, having starred in Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Punjabi films.[5][6][7][8][9] She has frequently been cited in the media as a multi-talented girl and the quintessential "beauty with brains".[10]

Early life, education and Personal life

Kadambari was born in Ahmedabad, Gujarat into a Hindu Sindhi family. Her father, Narendrakumar Jethwani is a Merchant navy officer and her mother Asha Jethwani is a manager with The Reserve Bank of India and a Gold medallist in Economics.[11] Her younger brother, Ambarish Jethwani is a dentist, but manages one of the topmost real estate companies in Dubai. Her maternal grandfather was a prominent social worker. She studied at Prakash Higher Secondary School, Mount Carmel High School and Udgam School. Throughout her schooling, she was an exceptional student and went on to rank fifth in the Gujarat Higher Secondary Examination.[12] She started training in Bharatnatyam at the age of five and obtained Visharad (Bachelor of Arts) degree (on successful completion of the 7 years course) from Gandharva Mahavidyalaya at twelve. She also played chess competitively during her school years and represented as the Gujarat champion in the National tournaments.[13] As a photogenic kid, she was a popular child model for such brands as Nippo batteries, Gayatri dairy, Maruti bread, and many others.[14]

She finished her M.B.B.S. from Smt. NHL Municipal Medical College in Ahmedabad. While finishing her degree, she was crowned Miss Gujarat, Miss Gujarat University, and Miss Ahmedabad Times,[15] and was featured on the cover pages of several prominent regional magazines, and endorsed a lot of brands for the Gujarat market. [16]

She is also trained in Martial Arts, and western dance forms. She likes swimming, reading and driving.[17]

Film career

Kadambari relocated to Mumbai with her family because of her mother's job transfer.[18] As luck would have it,though the guys' part had already been shot in Mauritius, the lead actress for Rajtaru Studios' Comedy-drama Sadda Adda wasn't finalized till 2 days before the commencement of the next shoot schedule. A common friend introduced her to the director Muazzam Beg, who found her perfect for the role. The makers took her on board the next day, despite her having absolutely no experience in acting, and she was giving her first shot on the sets of the film in less than 24 hours. She portrayed a confident, outspoken, ambitious and sorted young girl, the love interest of the lead actor.[19] Critics noted that it is a movie with the right intention and a great script to read, and that Kadambari clearly has a lot of potential.[20][21]

Her next release the same year was B.Unnikrishnan's thriller set in Bangkok, I Love Me, alongside Asif Ali and Anoop Menon.[22] 2013 saw her shooting as the heroine for the Tamil venture Senthatti Kaalai Sevatha Kaalai directed by Saran[23][24][25] and the lead in Dharmesh Darshan's Punjabi film, but both the projects were shelved.[26] This was a setback in her budding film career, as she had chosen these regional projects over a couple of Hindi films. Next, she starred in Rajkumar Reddy's supernatural Horror film Ouija produced by Vega Entertainment, for which she was approached 2 days before the shoot began in Malaysia.[27] The movie was a major commercial success and widely appreciated by the critics and audience alike.[28][29] Critics stated that Kadambari is "giggly, gorgeous", "looks glamorous, hot and good-looking" and "has done what is required of her" and "has done justice to her character".[30][31][32][33] The director remarked that she is "very hard-working, dedicated".[34] In all of these she played urban, glamorous young girl roles.

Modelling Work

Kadambari has been the face of nationwide advertisement campaigns for Videocon d2h, Cygnus jewellery, Mahindra Xylo, Shoppers Stop, Rahna homes, Vespa, Pond's White Beauty BB+ Fairness cream and Jashn sarees among other brands,[35] and featured on the cover page of Femina (India), Femina calendar and LSF magazine. She has also had a brief stint on the runway, at India Runway Week and numerous Femina Showcases, among others.
