Deadline 3 (Week 4) - Yeseo Lim

Hello, professor! I'm Yeseo Lim. I finished Dealine 3. But I'm not sure if I did it right. I'd appreciate your feedback after checking. Thank you! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economic_development --Ivisy6952 (talk) 10:45, 27 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ivisy6952, Unfortunately, there were several problems with your edits there and they have been undone by another volunteer. The problems are 1) Namu Wiki is not considered a reliable source and cannot be used as a reference in Wikipedia 2) your reference was a bare URL and was not formatted with a citation template. Please try again, adding a reference to a reliable source (newspaper/book/magazine/journal) and formatting it correctly. Good luck and let me know when your make up edit is ready for a review! Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 04:40, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that there were some problems in the process of carrying out the assignment, and I corrected them. I modified the URL to the correct form and used a Korean article as the reference. Please check the link above again! Thank you always. Have a nice day, professor! --Ivisy6952 (talk) 07:24, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ivisy6952, Your second attempt [1] appears to be well-formatted, although I recommend you use citation templates. I am not sure why User:MrOllie reverted your second try (without providing any justification). Let's ask him here. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 03:38, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Piotrus, For something as simple as a definition of GDP I think we can find something a little more accessible to our English readers than a Korean language newspaper. MrOllie (talk) 13:03, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
MrOllie, While I agree the source is not the best, given the language, how about {{better source needed}}? Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 13:58, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Piotrus, I just added a cite to the IMF's definition. MrOllie (talk) 14:03, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
MrOllie, Elegant solution, thank you :) On a side note, do note that one of my concerns here is to explain best practices to the new (student) editors. Too often they may not realize what they did wrong or how they could do things better unless we explain it to them in detail. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 14:06, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I thought it would be a good idea to add Korean articles to translate English articles into Korean. However, in the future, I will try to find more suitable materials. Thank you!--Ivisy6952 (talk) 03:55, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Professor~! I have a quesition, so I ask something~!!

Dear Professor Piotrus

Hello Professor!

I'm Young-Joo, Park in "Collective Intelligence" I put some images like this

Wikipedia said this should "My own image", but I can't get this image myself, so I take this image another site and take modify a picture like adding filter effect and so on...

If possible, I'd like to post a photo of myself, but I can't take this picture

So it's okay? or Something should do that? Capoco1234 (talk) 11:30, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Capoco1234, I am afraid that uploading modified images is not allowed. According to copyright, the modification does not give any ownership of the original image, and as such, the image needs to be deleted (ping User:Masur, User:-revi). You can only upload images that you have taken or created yourself, or that are in the public domain or otherwise are freely licenced. If you want to uploaded a photo of someone, found on another website, you need to contact them for permission which they need to forward to Wikipedia volunteers reviewing copyright issues. See commons:Commons:메일 양식 for the text you can use to send them and that they'll need to send to Wikipedia if they want this photo to be used here. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 04:25, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

oh! Thank you for your help! I must deleted picture and change another image!

Thank you!! Capoco1234 (talk) 06:49, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Deadline 3 (Week 4): Adding an inline reference (citation), Minkyo Jeong

Hello, professor! I finished weekly 10 edits and adding an citation in this page :) Also, I registered main Wiki topic in the dashboard system.

Actually, I'm not sure that I did it in a right way... please check my assignments and give me feedback. Thank you :) Kyokyoyaaaaa talk💬 13:12, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Kyokyoyaaaaa, Good job adding the reference here. But I am not sure where are your other weekly edits? The weekly edits don't count edits for your main project/deadlines/posting to my talk page. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 04:31, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, professor, Piotrus. I did it on March 22. Please check my edit here.Kyokyoyaaaaa talk💬 03:38, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Kyokyoyaaaaa, Ah, yes. Those are good, particularly here, but in [2], consider the rules for external links. We don't generally add links - such as to the companies websites - in the article body. Links in the article body should be only for other Wikipedia articles. The place for any external links is in the both section of the article called 'external links', so I suggest you fix your edits accordingly. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 04:07, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Piotrus Professor, I revised external links you mentioned. I wonder if the way I did it is right or not... please check the edit I did. Thank you : ) Kyokyoyaaaaa talk💬 04:48, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Kyokyoyaaaaa, Yes, I think this is now fixed correctly - good job! Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 17:07, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I finished the assignment for deadline 3 (week 4) -WANG XIAOLING

Hello Professor, I’m Wang Xiaoling of collective intelligence, I finished the assignment for deadline 3 (week 4). This is the link: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Zheng_Shuang_(actress,_born_1991)&diff=1014633603&oldid=1014633421. I also completed 10 Wikipedia task edits this week. In addition, I edited Wikipedia 30 times. Can I get extra credits? Wikipedia has been edited 40 times in total this week. Also please check the blog post about extra credits. Regarding the extra credits task for blogging, I wrote about my thoughts on the book "The Presentation of Self in Everyday Life", but the professor left me a message saying that my blog was wrong(This is a reply to my blog link: https://socwiki2021.blogspot.com/2021/03/w3-thoughts-on-reading-presentation-of.html). Can I not get extra credits for writing other books?

Please check my homework, thank you!^^ WANG XIAOLING995 13:37, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

WANG XIAOLING995, Good job adding referenced content here, and your other edits look good too. For future extra credit, if you are interested in Chinese film controversies, maybe you could translate the article zh:赵立新 to English?
Do note that per MOS:BIRTHPLACE, information on birthplace is preferred in the body of the article, not its lead. Some of your edits have been reverted; please move the birth place information to the lower section.
Regarding your blog, the blog itself is very good, but you posted it in the wrong blog (the book is for our 'Everday Life' class, but you blogged about it in our 'Collective Intelligence' class blog). If you got invited to the wrong blog, please send me an email about this and I'll invite you to the correct blog so you can copy your blogs there. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 05:49, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus, 1) I can translate zh:赵立新 to English Wikipedia. How long is the deadline? 2) Thank you professor for your feedback, I will pay attention next time! 3)In the syllabus:"b) you can blog about the question poised in the syllabus for a given week (for some weeks it’s the same as a) above, but for some weeks it is different). The structure of the blog post should be similar to that of a), also you are welcome to incorporate other materials than simply the assigned readings for next week (you can also discuss the past readings, lectures, and anything else you find on your own). "

It seems that can write other books to get extra credits. I don’t know that this book is also available in other classes of the professor. I think this book is very famous and interesting so I want to write my thoughts about this book. I have written 4 blogs about this book. Can I get extra credits? Or if write a blog about this book, its won’t get extra credits? thank you!^^professor. Have a nice day~ WANG XIAOLING995 05:57, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

WANG XIAOLING995, There is no deadline for extra credit projects (well, the deadline would be the end of the class in late June). You can get extra credit for blogging about the book, just note that the credits will be applied to the class this book is relevant to (so if you blog about Goffman's Presentation... then the credits will be awarded for the Everday Life class). Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 17:10, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus, 1)Can I get extra credits by writing articles in other books through my blog? 2)If I make additional credits for Wikipedia editing, and the editor makes a mistake and is withdrawn, can I still earn additional credits?

Thank you professor for replying to me patiently, I wish you have a good day. WANG XIAOLING995 01:42, 31 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

WANG XIAOLING995, If they are books that are assigned reading to our course, yes. Other than that, the preferred venue to earn extra credits is to do more Wikipedia edits, as it is more productive than blogging. Regarding making an edit that was a mistake, you can earn extra credit if you acknowledge what was the mistake and fix it either directly or by making a similar edit that is not a mistake. For example, if you add a sentence that is removed because it contained grammatical errors or was unreferenced, you can get credit by restoring that sentence with grammatical error fixed and/or the reference provided, as necessary. I hope this helps! Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 02:29, 31 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus, Already understand, thank you professor, I will work hard. have a good day^^ WANG XIAOLING995 03:01, 31 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Deadline 3-Hyeonmin Song

Meanssong, Well done adding content and references to [3], good job! Also, please remember to WP:SIGN your talk page posts correctly. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 06:14, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Deadline3 Assignment ?(WiKi, Chaehyoseung)

Hello professor, I am Chaehyoseung.I finish Deadline3(week4) Assignment https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mijoo#Television_shows Please chaek this link. I add some content and add links too. --Chaehyoseung (talk) 16:56, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Chaehyoseung, Good job editing a table, but what you added are external links, not references. Please try to add correctly formated references (which should take the form of footnotes) and let me know when you are done. Good luck! Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 06:19, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Chaehyoseung, Unfortunately, this is still not correct. You now added an external link into a text; this is generally not allowed as it resembles spam - see also the friendly message & explanation another volunteer, User:Paper9oll, left for you at User_talk:Chaehyoseung#April_2021. You need to format your addition as a reference, in the form of a footnote that is not just a bare URL but specifies the author, publisher, date, title, an d so on. Please see WP:CITE and watch our course video tutorial on adding references. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 06:05, 1 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Piotrus: Hi there, your student added Naver Search result as reference which is not consider reliable source hence this is the reason why I reverted the edit. Would recommended to use primary source or secondary source (preferably news source) instead. I have since added the supporting references to the unsourced content which was previously added by another editor. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 06:27, 1 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Professor, I try again this assignment. Please check this link. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dana_(South_Korean_singer). I added external link. thank you.--Chaehyoseung (talk) 06:15, 1 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Chaehyoseung, I am afraid you are repeating your previous mistakes and even confirming this here ("I added external link" - yes, and this is NOT what the assignment requires - you should add a reference instead). Please stop, read the Wikipedia rules I and others linked, watch our video, and also read this talk page where many of your colleagues have reported their correct submissions (and compare them to yours). In your latest edit, already reverted by another volunteer, you have added external links (not references) and linked google search results (not acceptable) and youtube (also not acceptable). A reference should be a direct link to a newspaper, magazine or such, and correctly formatted (like described above). You can see an example of how a reference is added, correctly, here - this edit is courtesy of volunteer Paper9oll. Please study it carefully and compare it to yours [4]. Can you see the difference? You need not only to use the correct code (for references), but ensure that your references are reliable. Given that you have repeated the same error several times, I recommend that you first submit a reference in your sandbox, then I'll review it, and only then you should add it to the mainspace. Deadline 3 (Week 4) -YUNCHANMI& JUNGEUNJIN

Hello professor, we have finished editing the article on the subject of "Cognitive Biases" and "Women in South Korean," so please check it out. Below is the corresponding address.

https://ko.wikipedia.org/wiki/%EC%9D%B8%EC%A7%80_%ED%8E%B8%ED%96%A5#cite_note-1

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Women_in_South_Korea#Legal_rights — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chanmi0618 (talkcontribs) 08:52, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Chanmi0618, First, please in mind that this deadline is individual. Each of you has to complete it using their own account (and report it here). The edit to Korean Wikipedia seems good, but I had to undo your edit to English Wikipedia since it was not in English: [5]. Please remember to use English on English Wikipedia. Finally, please remember to WP:SIGN your posts when posting on talk pages. Please let me know if you fix the edit on the 'women in South Korea' page so I can review it again. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 13:57, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Professor, I'm sorry. I moved my assignment back to my personal sandbox in English Wikipedia. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Chanmi0618/sandbox — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chanmi0618 (talkcontribs) 08:41, 2 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Chanmi0618, I see. As there is not much content there outside the references, I will comment only on those. They are a good start, but you should now focus your search for more sources on academic references - books and journal articles. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 03:14, 3 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Modest flowers

Thank you for what you said on Yoninah's talk, - see also Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/2021-03-28/Obituary! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:34, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Gerda Arendt, I read it already! And what I said was the least I could do. It's said, and what is even sadder is the realization that as Wikipedia matures, such events are going to become normal... Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 02:30, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Deadline 3(again) - Eunsun Choi

Professor, I left a talk few days ago, but didn't receive your comment!

I told

"Hellp, professor! I finished Deadline 3 (week 4) assignment. I edited this article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surveillance_capitalism#Response adding reference number 37. Could you check my assignment? And also I edited this one https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Social_Dilemma#Scientific_basis adding reference number 16. I am not sure whether I'm going well or not but sure that editing wikipedia makes me more and more interested. Still not good enough, I'll try to do my best to follow this class!"

Please check again and give me an advice. Thank you. :) --This is silverline (talk) 16:34, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This is silverline, Good job! Here are thoughts on how you can improve those edits: 1) The reference here is well-formatted, but that sentence was already referenced. Keeping in mind this is English Wikipedia, what is the benefit of the reference you added for most readers? Also, when adding Korean-language references to English Wikipedia, I suggest you see the optional 'translated title' parameter and add an English translation of the Korean title (do not remove the Korean title, both should be visible). 2) Re [6], when adding a citation to a book, please add the page number(s) for the pages you consulted. Readers who want to read more about this issue may not want to read the entire book and instead may want to look at the specific page or two which contain the relevant information.--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 02:36, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Deadline3- Oh Serin

Hello, professor. I started editing Wikipedia. But the subject I set was harder than I thought. It will take some time to add more content. (I'll try to add it as soon as possible) Could you check if I'm editing it correctly?

Here's a link. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:IQ#References — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ohserin (talkcontribs) 17:02, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ohserin, Dear Oh Serin. It's a good start, but since you want to translate the article to Korean, you should copy your sandbox to Korean Wikipedia (where you have a sandbox too). The sooner you do so the better, as technical parts like code (including references) will not copy well, so some of the work you do here, in English Wikipedia's sandbox, is wasted as you'll have to do it again from scratch on the Korean side.
Also, please remember to WP:SIGN your talk page posts. Good luck! Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 02:51, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello professor, I put the contents in the Korean Wikipedia. Could you check if it's the right location? And if the reference word link is not in Korean Wikipedia, is it okay to put it in the English Wikipedia address? Here's a link. https://ko.wikipedia.org/wiki/IQ_%EB%B6%84%EB%A5%98Ohserin (talk) 10:12, 2 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ohserin, Since your project is just an early draft, I see it was moved to a sandbox by User:Sangjinhwa. You can contact them in Koraen on Korean Wikipedia if you have any questions, and note that I recommend working in sandbox/draft until your article is mostly finished. Anyway, for now, you should continue to translate your chosen project; at this stage, the deadline asks for your translation to be halfway finished - and we are not close to that yet. Good start, but please continue. For linking notable concepts that have an article on English Wikipedia but no corresponding one on Korean one, please use ko:틀:임시링크. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 04:33, 3 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Week4. Thank you for your feedback

@Piotrus: Thank you for your reply. I also thanked User: Trappist the monk for helping me with my revision 'Hapkido'. The whole page is 190 pages, and the part I’ve quoted is pages 13-21. Should I correct my citation information? Also, what exactly does "volume" mean? Is it correct to write "Volume = p.190, Pages = 13-21"? Sorry for being awkward at Wikipedia. ㅠㅠ Thank you for your help. Have a nice day :-) Hyeonyoung Lee 21 (talk) 02:30, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hyeonyoung Lee 21, Great that you learned how to send a thank you note to other editors :) And yes, please correct the information to list pages 13-21. I think it is usually not necessary to report the total number of pages (190). Nothing to be sorry for, learning how to write quality content takes time and you are making good progress! Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 02:55, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Questions about the reference

@Piotrus: Hello Professor. Thanks for the detailed feedback on my assignment. First, the source of information for 19 is Doosan Encyclopedia. Could it be a good reference?

Second, the source of this finding is the Encyclopedia of Korean Ethnic Culture and the source of this information is Doosan Encyclopedia. Can various Korean encyclopedias be a good reference??

--Hyeonyoung Lee 21 (talk) 03:14, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hyeonyoung Lee 21, Yes, Korean encyclopedias like the Doosan Encyclopedia or the specialized Encyclopedia of Korean Ethnic Culture (which likely needs an article about itself to be written) - or encyclopedias in general - are reliable sources. See also WP:RS which answers your question: "Reputable tertiary sources, such as introductory-level university textbooks, almanacs, and encyclopedias, may be cited". I recommend reading the RS page, it is very helpful in understanding what 'reliable' means on Wikipedia. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 03:21, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Deadline4 (Week5) JeongYoon Oh

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:JeongYoon_Oh/sandbox --JeongYoon Oh (talk) 13:17, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

JeongYoon Oh, It's a good start, but if you want to translate an English Wikipedia article to Korean Wikipedia, you should copy your sandbox to Korean Wikipedia (where you have a sandbox too). The sooner you do so the better, as technical parts like code (including references) will not copy well, so some of the work you do here, in English Wikipedia's sandbox, is wasted as you'll have to do it again from scratch on the Korean side. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 17:13, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

As you answered, I copied the translation of "Vogue(magazine)" into my sandbox to a Wikipedia article in Korea. I'll also attach a link to Korean Wikipedia, so please take a look. Since you said that references are not copied well, from now on, I will translate and modify them right away in Korean Wikipedia articles, not in my sandbox. The reason why I wrote draft into my sandbox was to do deadline 4. Is my assignment completely confirmed?

JeongYoon Oh, Yes, good job. As noted in the syllabus, the outline is required only for non-translation projects. If you are simply translating content from English to Korean, as written in the syllabus, "I expect your translation to be at least 50% done". Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 03:59, 1 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I forgot that if I have to translate from English Wikipedia to Korean Wikipedia, more than 50% of the translation must be completed, so I revised it again this time. I've translated 100% of the Vogue article. Please check. Of course, only simple translation was completed. Later, I will add additional contents related to Korean Vogue and include Korean translation in the references. Please just check if you can pass through Deadline 4 for now. Thank you.

If I translate the original Vogue text in my sandbox and move it to the Korean Wikipedia article, there was an error related to the reference, so I wrote it right away in the Vogue Korean Wikipedia article. Is this okay, too?--JeongYoon Oh (talk) 09:33, 3 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I finished deadline 1

I finished deadline 1 and enrolled in the dashboard system. I'm so sorry for the late completion. I will work hard on my assignment from now on.--Seora3085 (talk) 15:29, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Seora3085, Better late than never - try to catch up as quickly as you can, and ask me for help if needed. Good luck! Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 17:15, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Deadline 2 (Week 3) - Jung a Byeon

I chose the article that I want to translate. Can I proceed with this? Byeon jung a, Yes, that topic is available. I have approved it - please add it to the dashboard as one of your selected articles. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 17:14, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Deadline 3 (Week 4) - jung a Byeon

I completed my 4th week assignment. Please check if I did the assignment correctly. --Byeon jung a (talk) 15:54, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Byeon jung a, I assume you refer to this? The reference is good, but the content you referenced already had two other references. Try to add a reference to content that does not have a reference. Also, in that edit you added the text "(A Love Story". Note that you need to add a space before the parenthesis, and close it. Also, is this the official English name of the movie? I don't see it mentioned in Il Mare. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 17:20, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I solved the problems you pointed out. And I want to tell you that Ilmare's subheading is a love story. --Byeon jung a (talk) 06:25, 31 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Byeon jung a, Good job, your new edits look like an improvement. Keep up the good job! Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 03:55, 1 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Adding one of my articles in Did You Know

I am glad that you read some of my articles related to Poland with great interest. I would love to have one of my articles in Did You Know section. If possible can you help me add any one of the article to the section ? Toadboy123 (talk) 17:44, 31 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Deadline 3 (Week 4) - Gaeun Um (retry)

Hello, professor:) I retried my assignment. My number is 44. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economic_inequality#cite_ref-81 Here is the link. Please check it! Thank you so much!--Garongronga (talk) 15:04, 1 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Garongronga, I am afraid your edit was badly formatted and therefore was reverted by another volunteer here. You can try again but please format the reference correctly, so that the external link is within the citation template. Also, for such topics on English Wikipedia, English references should be easy to find. You may be better off adding a Korean language reference to a Korean topic in this case. It is allowed to add Korean language reference to English Wikipedia, but if you want to do it here, please provide a translated quotation that supports the claim(s) you are referencing. Deadline3 (Week4) retry : Jeong Hyerin

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hangul#Reforms_and_prohibition_under_Japanese_rule Hello professor, I am sending you a revised assignment. The footnote in the link above has been modified. The footnote modified is [37]. Please check!--Heeyrin (talk) 15:05, 1 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Heeyrin, I have reviewed your addition. Unfortunatey, the code is not correct. Please format the reference properly (make sure to provide information such as the author, publisher, date, translated title and relevant quote), it does not look correct right now. I recommend you study how to use Wikipedia:Citation templates. Also, see our video on how to add references where I demonstrate how to do so with the correct formatting. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 02:58, 2 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Piotrus, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hangul#Reforms_and_prohibition_under_Japanese_rule I revised the footnote again and uploaded it. Please check footnote 37 again! I'm sorry to bother you.--Heeyrin (talk) 05:00, 2 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Heeyrin, No bother, revising assignments and feedback is our job as student-teacher :) The reference is much better. Please add 1) original title in Hangul - both the original and the Korean translation should be present in English Wikipedia and 2) information on the publisher (newspaper/website name). You are almost finished! Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 06:08, 2 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Piotrus, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hangul#Reforms_and_prohibition_under_Japanese_rule I revised the footnote and uploaded it again. Please check footnote [37]! Thank you :) --Heeyrin (talk) 10:51, 3 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, professor.

Hello, Professor. I'm Park Chae Jeong.

To do the editing task, I've added a new post to Wikipedia for the k-drama 괴물 which I enjoy watching these days. However, there was already a drama information article called Beyond Evil (TV series) :(:( I wrote 'Monster (K-drama)' without knowing it.

  • I translated 괴물 to monster incorrectly into a Korean translation, so I added it without knowing if there were any existing drama-related articles.

I want to delete it, but I can't delete it. What should I do? Please help me. Pkccccj 16:59, 1 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Pkccccj, Ah, that's a shame. In the future, it is always good to first double-check if there is a WP:INTERWIKI language link in a Korean article you'd like to translate. For now, I have used a Wikipedia:Redirect to retarget your article to the existing one but your submission is still accessible through history so you can still copy your content form here (you can click edit buttons to copy more easily). Try to add any information from your version that is not present in the existing article there (this is called merging). Good experience, well done reporting the issue to me, and keep up the good job! Your edits are not wasted and will be considered for our assignments. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 03:04, 2 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I finished Deadline 4 (week5) / Younji Ha

Hello, professor. I did part of Wikipedia article translation, which is assignment for Deadline 4 (Week 5). Because I translated English article into Korean, I wrote them in my sandbox page in Korean Wikipedia.

https://ko.wikipedia.org/wiki/%EC%82%AC%EC%9A%A9%EC%9E%90:Younjihaa/%EC%97%B0%EC%8A%B5%EC%9E%A5

(To avoid confusion while translating, the title of each paragraph have not been translated.)

Also I have some questions while translating.

1. I the original article, the content was directly linked to another wiki document (for additional explanation of the content), but if there is no document in Korean, is it okay not to link the article? (I haven't added any links yet. And I will add it later.)

2. The original article quoted a particular person, should this be translated into Korean? (Or should I write both the original and the Korean translation?)

Please check. Thank you.--Younjihaa (talk) 18:40, 1 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Younjihaa, Excellent questions! Links are important. If there is no existing Korean Wikipedia article, you can make red links - see WP:RED. There is also an advanced template that can be used for this purpose you can experiment with - see ko:틀:임시링크. Regarding quotes, I believe they should be translated. Keep up the good job! Inquiries about dashboard history for program

Hello, professor. I'm jisoo jung. I'm contacting you to ask how I can solve the problem of the article I edited. I edited 'Siheung' and I checked it out later and it came out in the form of 'https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q1018337'. If you tell me how to solve it, I'll edit it again. Deadline 4 (Week 5)- YUNCHANMI

I wrote an article for the professor's translation and added some more articles about 'Women in the South Korea'.

Please remember to WP:SIGN your posts. Regarding the Korean translation, it is an early start, you still need to work on adding references, formatting and so on. Regarding the English sandbox, as there is not much content there outside the references, I will comment only on those. They are a good start, but you should now focus your search for more sources on academic references - books and journal articles. Please ask me for more feedback once there is more content (text) and additional references (scholarly). --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 03:29, 3 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

We finished Deadline4 (Week5) - Jung Eunjin & Yun Chanmi

Hello, professor! We are Jung Eunjin and Yoon Chanmi who are taking sociology in every day life class.

We translated the 'Cognitive bias' to 인지 편향.

About half was completed, and the final editing was done by Jung Eunjin, but each part was divided and translated. Each piece of work is in each of our own sandbox(kor).

Explain to you the parts we each have to do. (Jung Eunjin - 1.Overview, 2.Types / Yun Chanmi - 4.Reducing, 6.Individual differences in cognitive biases, 7.Criticisms)

We are thinking of translating the remaining parts from now on. Please check it!

Yun chanmi's sandbox(kor)

Jung eunjin's sandbox(kor)

And we found more papers and articles that can be added to 'Women in South Korea' and uploaded them in each of our own sandbox(eng). If you approve these papers, we will add them as a reference to the article. Please check it!

Yun chanmi's sandbox(eng)

Jung eunjin's sandbox(eng)

Thank you for reading it. We will be waiting for your feedback. --Eunjin Jung (talk) 09:40, 2 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Eunjin Jung, While I cannot comment on the quality of prose in Korean, the structure and formatting of the article you translated look pretty good. Congratulations on being one of the first groups to make so much progress in the assignment! For linking terms on English Wikipedia which do not have Korean equivalents yet, please use ko:틀:임시링크. Regarding your plans to expand the English article, the sources you found are a good start, but you should now focus your search for more sources on academic references - books and journal articles. Please ask me for more feedback once there is more content (text) and additional references (scholarly). Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 04:27, 3 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Jiwoo2020, I have looked at your draft n the sandbox. It is a good start, but please make sure to avoid WP:ESSAY style. Also, the article needs academic (scholarly - books, journals) references. The topic is discussed in academic literature, and your article should be based mostly on academic sources, not news or marketing websites like [7]. Please try to improve the article with academic sources (such as [8], [9], [10] and others. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 04:39, 3 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Week 5 Deadline 4 (Everyday Life and Social Structure) _ Han Jiseung

Good morning professor. I have completed Deadline 4 of Week 5. This is the link to my article translation : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Hanjiseung/sandbox I translated about half of the article. Please check my work and thank you. Hanjiseung (talk) 02:24, 3 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hanjiseung, It's a good start, but since you want to translate the article to Korean, you should copy your sandbox to Korean Wikipedia (where you have a sandbox too). The sooner you do so the better, as technical parts like code (including references) will not copy well, so some of the work you do here, in English Wikipedia's sandbox, is wasted as you'll have to do it again from scratch on the Korean side. So please copy your sandbox to Korean Wikipedia, fix code errors and then I'll give my further feedback. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 05:19, 3 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the feedback on Capture of Tanker Tuapse

Good morning, Professor,

Much thanks to you messages and notes on the Capture of Tanker Tuapse article - hereby humbly added more citations as requested and some detailed adjustment for the improvement. As for the first inquiry on why Vaganov was arrested in 1963 - it's a good question since there are different opinions among historians beside the official charge reason, so I will leave it open for the public thinking.

I was not born during post-WWII era, and unfortunately cannot speak an east European language either, therefore could not complete the proper field investigation to collect key information on the professional level, besides analyzing the existing second-handed reportage pieces as an amateur. That's all I could do sincerely for the victims forgotten in the dust past.

Please feel free to add required correction, or input any available insight, resource or research result at any time of your convenience. My purpose of compiling this article is simply to emphasize the respect to international laws which reflect the universal humanity thoughts versus a dictatorship's ideology as we learnt from history. Thank you and hope you have a great Easter weekend. Mickie-Mickie (talk) 02:46, 3 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Finished Deadline 4 / Minkyo Jeong & Shinhee Kim

Hello Professor! We have completed Deadline 4. We made the outline of the English and Korean wikis, and started translating English Wikipedia contents into Korean.

Korean wiki:
Minkyo Jeong https://ko.wikipedia.org/wiki/%EC%82%AC%EC%9A%A9%EC%9E%90:Kyokyoyaaaaa/%EC%97%B0%EC%8A%B5%EC%9E%A5
Shinhee Kim https://ko.wikipedia.org/wiki/%EC%82%AC%EC%9A%A9%EC%9E%90:Shinhee_Kim/%EC%97%B0%EC%8A%B5%EC%9E%A5
English wiki:
Minkyo Jeong https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Kyokyoyaaaaa/sandbox
Shinhee Kim https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Shinhee_Kim/sandbox

And We have some questions.

1. (Korean Wiki) When moving from English to Korean, can I bring the link as it is and add a reference?
2. (Korean Wiki) Can we add the refined content later while leaving the content on the existing upcycling page as it is?
3. (English wiki) I found the content in another encyclopedia, put it in the outline, and translated it into English. Can I use the frame as it is?

Please answer after checking. Thank you Professor! Shinhee Kim (talk) 13:34, 3 April 2021 (UTC) Kyokyoyaaaaa talk💬 13:35, 3 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Deadline 4 (Week 5) -LiuXinlei

Hello Professor, I am Liu Xinlei from the collective intelligence and I finished deadline 4 (week 5). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Rae041/sociology_in_china please check it!Please let me know if you have any mistakes!Thank you and have a nice day! --Rae041 (talk) 15:46, 3 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Deadline 4 (Week 5) - Yeseo Lim

Hello, professor! I finished Deadline 4. I've translated about half of my articles. Please check this! https://ko.wikipedia.org/wiki/%EC%82%AC%EC%9A%A9%EC%9E%90:Ivisy6952/%EC%97%B0%EC%8A%B5%EC%9E%A5 Also, since it is an article that will be translated into Korean, I thought it would be better to add a citation in Korean. I wonder if it isn't appropriate to use a Korean thesis as a citation. --Ivisy6952 (talk) 16:48, 3 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

主题选择

Hello, dear professor.I'm sorry to be late for the task.I read this topic in English Wikipedia but it has very little content. I would like to make some additional supplements. Is it OK to choose to add this? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Four_Generations_Under_One_Roof

I finished Deadline 4 (Week 5)

Dear professor,

I'm chenchen (jinsin chen)

I posted two blogs this week:https://socwiki2021.blogspot.com/2021/04/w51-benevolent-dictator.htmlhttps://socwiki2021.blogspot.com/2021/04/w52-do-you-think-wikipedia-is-right-to.html

And I have left a message under the Lee ye han classmate’s blog this week: https://socwiki2021.blogspot.com/2021/04/w5-do-you-think-wikipedia-is-right-to_3.html?showComment=1617443403677#c946628412377843566

I have created an outline of my project in my personal sandbox: https://zh.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Jinsin_chen/%E6%B2%99%E7%9B%92&redirect=no

The article has been translated over 50%:https://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E6%96%B0%E9%97%BB%E5%AD%A6%E5%8F%B2

Two articles this week has been edited more than 40 times. https://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019%E5%86%A0%E7%8A%B6%E7%97%85%E6%AF%92%E7%97%85%E7%96%AB%E6%83%85%E5%AF%B9%E6%95%99%E8%82%B2%E7%9A%84%E5%BD%B1%E5%93%8D ; https://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E6%96%B0%E9%97%BB%E5%AD%A6%E5%8F%B2

According to the instruction of the lecture last time, two articles were edited this time almost the same number of times. I was very anxious last week. Because the second article was created, I was afraid that the translation would not be finished, so I edited more time.

Thank youJinsin chen (talk) 07:03, 4 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
