On 24 January 2024 at around 11.00am local time, a Russian Air Force Ilyushin Il-76 military transport plane carrying Ukrainian prisoners of war, as well as six crew members and three others, crashed near the Ukrainian border in Russia's Korochansky district. The prisoners of war were to be exchanged in a swap.[1][2][3][4][5]
