Original Norwegian Lyrics

Could somebody please give the original lyrics for the Arrangement by Bjarne Slogedal called "Herre Jesus gi meg nade". I believe it is a folk tune for Oyslebo, Norway. 41.244.206.207 06:46, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I heard John paul jones(from led zeppelin) had a wife named mo jones. Does anybody have a picture of her, or know what ethnicity she is? not trying to sound weird, I'm just really curious.

Yes, his wife is Mo and his daughter is Jacinda. Their last name is Baldwin (John's real last name), but I believe Jacinda performs as Jacinda Jones. I have never seen photos of either woman. -- kainaw 16:09, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Name that film

I remember seeing some stupid movie about a small town American football team which sucks, so in order to win games they get this donkey (or mule) on their team that they teach to kick field goals, and that's the only way that they score points. I don't think it was a Francis the Talking Mule film as I don't recall it being able to speak and none of those titles seem sports related. On a final note, I'm pretty sure it was in color. Any ideas on what it was?--SeizureDog 02:06, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hills without eyes

In the recently released Nightwish song Bye Bye Beautiful, the first part of the lyrics goes:

Finally the hills are without eyes
They are tired of painting a dead man`s face red
With their own blood

They used to love having so much to lose
Blink your eyes just once and see everything in ruins

The symbol could refer to The Hills Have Eyes (series), but that doesn't seem to make much sense. Can the eyes of a hill mean something else? - Søren 87.61.245.70 17:13, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Name of Song.

Hello Wikipedians, Recently I heard a song on 101.1 FM (melbourne) the name of which I dont remember. Maybe it was from James Blunt, but am not sure of it. It went something like this :

My heart is xxxxx beating... xx xxxx xx xxx xxxxing...... aaa aaaaa aaa aaaa

In the last line "aaa aa.....", he used to stretch his voice a lot as if screaming in pain.

I know its a very vague description. It was a guy singing about his love for his lady or something similar to that.

If anyone could please help.

Regards, Nikhil. Illogical Programmer. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.95.233.84 (talk) 05:09, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds vaguely like Patience by Take That. I think (lyrics from memory here) Gary Barlow sings "my heart is numb has no feeling, ??(but? so? and?)?? while I'm still healing, please trrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy... to have a little patience." --Dweller 12:39, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Idenfifying a version of a song

This one is kind of obscure, but hopefully someone can help me out! In the 2007 Japanese film Baburu e go!! Anyone have any idea who the artists are or where I can find a soundtrack listing (searching for English results hasn't turned up anything so far)? See the OP's second question. Corvus cornix 20:46, 14 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I have at least heard of the Canary Islands, but always thought it had something to do with the bird. In any case, the wording of the question was flawed as you specificallly said that it was named after a dog, singular. Being named after the latin word for "dogs" is a invalid answer to the question posed. I hate it when people phrase riddles badly. I also still like the Indiana Jones answer best.--SeizureDog 01:40, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You people are an absolute disgrace to the Ref Desk, not even knowing of the Canary Islands, let alone knowing it was named after dogs. It's one of the most famous trivia/quiz questions of all time. On the credit side of the ledger, it seems it's only ever asked in pubs, because by the time it gets asked again, everyone's memory cells have been so marinated in alcohol that they forgot it had been asked before ... many, many, many times before. And of course we're all too busy with Wikipedia to ever go to a pub ... aren't we.  :) -- JackofOz 12:53, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

TNT's "encore season" of The Closer

I really like this show, which stars Kyra Sedgewick (who is one of Newsweek Magazine's "Eleven Powerful Women" ). The show is in it's third season, but currently, tnt.tv says the show is enjoying an "encore season". I don't know if that means the season is repeating , or what. I didn't want to start a talk page for the lexeme ENCORE , and I'm not really looking to you to learn what an "encore season" is... I'll learn soon enough... but perhaps the phrase is (or soon will be) in more than just TNT's lexicon. If so, perhaps Wikipedia should define it. Bill MontgomeryBilmon 06:25, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia doesn't do definitions, that's the job of Wiktionary. But the useage of "encore" that you're providing sounds like a euphemism for "rerun". Corvus cornix 17:49, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Like many cable networks, TNT seems to be showing its original series during the summer, when the traditional broadcast networks are primarily in reruns (or game shows), or at other non-conventional times (see also USA's Psych, Monk and Burn Notice). Season 3 of The Closer started on 18 June 2007, and there were 13 episodes, which by my reckoning should have meant the season finale showed in mid-September. They are now rerunning season 3 start to finish, which I suppose their marketing department has decided to call an "encore season." The website says that new episodes will start in December. As my learned colleague Corvus cornix says, Wikipedia does not define; if the term becomes widespread and notable, then perhaps an entry would be warranted. --LarryMac | Talk 19:36, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Song and Singer

I think the lyrics are: "I've seen love, I've seen life and I've seen beautiful............". A song from the late 60's early 70's I think. Anyone know what the song is or who is the singer please? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.106.178.212 (talk) 13:30, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In the advert shown on BBC television for Russell Brand's BBC radio show, he's shown picking up a small stringed instrument (mandolin?) and strumming the intro to Losing my religion by REM (band). Best Sound Quality

Hi there. I was just wondering, based on other people's natural opinions, what is the company with the best sound for home theatre systems? I heard it was either Samsung, Sony, or Panasonic.Jk31213 01:27, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bose sound systems are usually considered to be some of the best in the business. However, they are also some of the most expensive. Equal or near-equal quality from other, cheaper brands is a common debate among audiophiles, but if you've got money to burn then Bose is probably your best bet.--SeizureDog 01:49, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You'll find that much disputed. Last time I checked (when I was buying my own home theatre, circa 2004) CNET had some helpful product comparisons, but that site seems harder to use now that it used to be. Unsourced opinion follows...
Since we're plugging brand names, I'll say I ended up getting Aperionaudio speakers. 3.1 for well under $1500 (there was a sale), used my old stereo speakers for the rear surrounds, and was extremely happy. However, I recommended comparably priced Klipsch to a friend since they had a color (midrange-y, "forward", kinda "rock") I thought she'd find pleasing whereas the Aperions were more neutral. Consumer quality amps all sound about the same as long as wattage is sufficient, so purchase receivers for power and features.
I'd like to see what someone comes up with for a well-sourced, NPOV answer. I have flunked. / edg 07:10, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
They tend to be the same.. - one good guide - feel the weight of the speakers - heavier is better - lighter will mean they are more lightly built and more prone to distortion. 83.100.255.190 09:55, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
