Can anyone tell me the name of the music that was playing in the Studio 54 scene of the [[Grin_and_Bear_It_%28Ugly_Betty%29|Grin and Bear It]] episode of Ugly Betty? I think it must be a famous 80s disco song, but I really don't know the name. Thanks in advance.

80's Movie with Courtney Thorne-Smith

I remember seeing a movie many times on HBO as a kid. It had Courtney Thorne-Smith as a lead character. I know that the title included "18" somewhere, but have not been able to come up with the rest of it. Any idea of what it may be? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.79.148.253 (talk) 02:08, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Did this trailer have giant monsters in it? Cloverfield is said to be the working title (meaning it will almost certainly be released under a different title) of a film whose trailer opened at least some showings of Transformers. Cloverfield at IMDb

Pls. identify this song:

There was some song I heard on one of the national radio stations and I got hooked onto it. The catch is the name of the song isn't mentioned but I remembered a portion of it. The portion of the jazz instrumental song having a tempo of est. 119 BPM goes like this:

......

(B-B B-B B-B B-B B B)3 (C-C C-C C-C C-C C C)4 C#4

C#4 D4 C#4 G#3 F#3 C4 B3 G#3 B3 C4 A3

((E F E F E F E F E C)4)x2

(E F E F E F G F E C)4

Burt Lancaster movie

Please help me name a Burt Lancaster movie. All I can remember is a scene of him being chased by a tractor with large hayrakes and that it was a contemporary, (for the time - late 50's through 60's), setting. Anyone know the title? Thank you, Mooney. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.146.184.9 (talk) 19:00, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You're probably thinking of The List of Adrian Messenger, in which a tractor with rakes was actually used as a stationary booby trap against people on a fox hunt. Lancaster is not one of the hunters, but is one of several stars who appear in the movie in character roles in disguise; George C. Scott has the starring role and has his normal appearance. --Anonymous, edited 00:36 UTC, November 8, 2007.

Old Sierra Game

I am looking for an old game that I think was made by Sierra. It was made sometime around the 90's for the computer, and it involved your character having to place holes in the ground for the bad guys to fall into. But like I said I think it was Sierra, if anyone has any information it would be a great help. BioYu-Gi! 20:26, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lode Runner perhaps? (from Broderbund, but does involve hole-digging) --LarryMac | Talk 20:51, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think that might be it! I do remember it bring a really long game, and yeah it fits the description. Thank you! BioYu-Gi! 20:08, 8 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No scratch that, I found some videos and that's not it. I don't think I'll ever find it, all I remember is holes that bad guys fall into, and lots of green. Thanks anyway. BioYu-Gi! 20:08, 8 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Lode_Runner:_The_Legend_Returns by Sierra has 150 levels, divided into groups of (10? 15? don't remember; I'll have to, um, dig it out again) levels, with the groups all having similar levels. Some groups can certainly be described as "lots of green" and you have to dig holes for the bad guys to fall into, or they will eat you. -SandyJax 20:25, 8 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Surround Sound

Hey. I was just wondering if there is such a thing, in North America, as home theater systems that are larger than just 1200 watts? I went on to JVC, Sony, Panasonic, Samsung, even Sanyo and they all only have, if not, less than 1200 watters. Canada or US seem to have none.Jwking 00:58, 8 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Adcom and Sunfire are two companies (I'm sure there are others) that make 300 and 400 watt per channel amps for home use in 5.1 and 7.1 channel configurations. Depending on the number of channels, you'd have 1500-2800 watts peak (and that's not counting a separately powered subwoofer). Another way to do this with consumer equipment would be to have a large dedicated amp for each channel.
Hopefully you plan on sitting very far from your speakers. / edg 01:12, 8 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WHICH MOVIE

Can anyone help me answer the question as to which movie to this day made the most money? Thanks in advance! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.71.46.156 (talk) 03:04, 8 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's Jurassic Park. Cheers,JetLover (Report a mistake) 03:06, 8 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You'll have to be more specific, because there are various scales used - Made the most money how (e.g. just from box office sales, or including videos/DVDs, or including merchandising spinoffs)? How are you measuring the money (in absolute dollar terms, or adjusting for inflation, or based on some other kind of consumer price index)? I think that if you work just off box office takings, and adjust dollar amounts for inflation, Gone With the Wind is pretty high up the list, for example. (Addendum) I notice we have a List of biggest opening weekends, which links to BoxOfficeMojo, which includes this list, which indeed suggests that if Gone With the Wind's box office takings were adjusted for inflation, they would be worth over a billion modern US dollars. Confusing Manifestation 03:55, 8 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Titanic wins on Wikipedia's List of highest-grossing films and Box Office Mojo's list of the same, both based on unadjusted total box office receipts. In inflation adjusted receipts, Gone With the Wind leads considerably over second-place Star Wars on Box Office Mojo. / edg 04:29, 8 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Can anyone help me ID this Daily Show/Colbert plugged book

Okay, so I believe it was around this summer, or earlier, not sure which show it was plugged on. It is definitely something to do with U.S. politics, that is left leaning, may have a religion tie in. Also, may be somewhat of a rude title, only mildly though. I looked through the Daily Show guests listing on here, to no avail, didn't recognise the authour in the Colbert guests (would be nice if the plugged book/item, etc was on the Colbert page too, as the Daily Show). Okay, so any help would be appreciated! Baseballfan 08:46, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Shakespeare in the modern world

It's very rare and exciting to see a movie not just adapted from the language of a Shakespeare play, but also set in the modern world. I have seen three examples: Baz Luhrman's Romeo & Juliet (quite beautiful indeed), Michael Almereyda's Hamlet, and Geoffrey Wright's Macbeth. Are there any more? There are many. Some are very close to the original. Others are a distant stretch. You can see how wide of a variety there is just by looking at a few, such as "10 Things I Hate About You", "O", and "Scotland, PA". -- kainaw 02:45, 11 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Honda Civic commercial song

There's a Honda Civic commercial in which the voiceover asks if you remember the first time your parents left you in charge of the house and it shows the kids playing video games. Then it asks if you would do anything differently and it shows the kids throwing a party. Then it asks if you remember your first new car and it shows the kid (older now) walking out on his porch, picking up a magazine, and looking at his new Civic, and then shows clips of driving it etc. Then it asks if you could have a second chance would would you do differently and it shows the kid walking out on his porch, picking up a magazine, and he still has the Civic (ie he has no regrets about buying it). All the while there is a piano rock/emo song playing in the background and for the life of me I can't figure out who sings it. I would post a link to the video of the commercial, but I can't find it and it appears that the video has been removed from YouTube/Google video for copyright enfringement. Please, help me figure out what song is in the commercial.

It sounds like its Something Corporate/Jack's Mannequin (sp?) but thus far that has got me nowhere. Grant.alpaugh 06:28, 11 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I found an extended cut of the commercial, and it has MUCH clearer enunciation of the lyrics to the song.

Why does this song have a comma in its name? --Masamage 07:18, 11 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Supposedly it started with a mistake by Decca records, with the comma making its debut on the original single. BBC/Dr Who on hi-def disc?

Are there any plans for the BBC to bring the new Dr Who to high-def disc? (I'd prefer HD-DVD as it's region free). Has the BBC released any other shows on hi-def? --72.202.150.92 05:11, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's unlikely as the new Dr Who isn't filmed in high def. There's no benefit (other than storage capacity) for an HD release. i have 2 questions in "lord of the flies"

1. How does Golding "the writer" show that there are children of different ages and experience just by recording their spoken language?

2. Find examples in the novel of language which creates a strong sense of unpleasantness of life on the island?

please answer me as soon as possible thank you

An excellent suggestion. The reader might also try Lord of the Flies, incidently I mentioned this book at work today - first time i've mentioned it in years. I'd say it's spooky but it isn't, it's just a coincidence. Either way both questions sound very simple. Different language will be used by older/more experience children and more infantile/naïve language by the younger children - that is unless the writer wanted to show off a younger child as bright/an older child as childish. Second question look for powerful unpleasant words, shouldn't be too hard. Good luck ny156uk 20:44, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Females voicing males

I was astounded to see that Naota from FLCL is voiced by Barbara Goodson. Look at her picture and then watch up to 1:00 of this FLCL episode-part (he's the 12 year old kid in the blue windbreaker). I just can't believe it.. is it really her? It sounds like a male.. how does she do that?! --ffroth 07:00, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I can't view the video from where I am now but both her article here and her page at the IMDb confirm that she's the voice of this Naota person. It's not so outlandish, after all one of the most popular male animated characters of all time is voiced by a woman. Dismas|(talk) 07:16, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Very common for women to voice young male characters in cartoons as there voices don't break like a real young male's would eventually. Exxolon 19:15, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Half life

I would be very happy if some one could resolve my doubts about half life series.

1-HF2 will begin only and only if freeman accepts the offer in hf1?

2-Are the episode's half life blue shift and etc different from halflife(which I have with counter strike)

And the same with HF2. Are episode,s 1 and 2 not included in the same versions.

3-How much memory does halflife 2take .

4-How long will it averagely take me to complete halflife2 (it took me 2months to clear hf1)

Can anyone tell me the name of the music that was playing in the Studio 54 scene of the Grin and Bear It episode of Ugly Betty? I think it must be a famous 80s disco song, but I really don't know the name. Thanks in advance.
