American singer Mariah Carey has sold over 145 million albums, and over 45 million singles during her career. She ranks as one of the biggest-selling female artists of all time. Carey has six albums on the RIAA Top 100 Best selling Albums list.[1][2]

As of 2008, Carey has had six #1 albums in the U.S., five in Japan, three in Australia, three in Canada, two in the U.K. and two in Germany.

According to publicity material from Billboard Charts,since 2006, Carey has sold more than 160 million records worldwide.(not including E=MC2.[3])[11]

U.S. sales

According to the RIAA, Carey has been certified for shipments of 62.5 million albums in the U.S.[12] She ranks third in RIAA album certifications among female artists, behind Barbra Streisand (71 million) and Madonna (63.5 million).[12]

As of the end of 2007, Nielsen SoundScan reported that Carey had sold 49.94 million albums in the U.S. since the inception of sales tracking in March 1991, making her the third-biggest-selling artist of the SoundScan era.[13] Sales through BMG Music Club accounted for an additional 3 million as of February 2003.[14] Carey's debut album had been certified platinum four times in the U.S. prior to the commencement of SoundScan tracking.[8]
