The crews' challenge: adapting the videos' innovative footwork to showcase their own style. Missy will work with the crews to master the moves and hone their routines. Boogie Bots went up against Fanny Pak for elimination and the remark made by Lil' Mama the week before affected the Bots this week, ultimately weakening their performance. Fanny Pak received the first standing ovation of America's Best Dance Crew history and left Boogie Bots to leave the show.[9]

Super Cr3w The Humpty Dance Perform the move with only 4 feet on the floor
SoReal Cru Kid N' Play Create a chain reaction during the routine
Fanny Pak Vanilla Ice Perform the move horizontally

Challenge #2: Dance Movie Challenge

Crews must create a routine that incorporates elements of an 80s dance movie. Similar to the "Broadway Challenge" from Season 1, crews were given remixed versions of the songs from their respective movies. Despite getting the worst reviews of the week, SoReal Cru was safe, which forced Super Cr3w and Fanny Pak to battle against each other for elimination. In a controversial decision, Fanny Pak was sent home, despite their "Flashdance" number, which fans consider one of the best in the show's history. JC said that he believed there was no way SoReal should have been saved and the judges consecutively agreed this was the hardest decision they had to make ever on America's Best Dance Crew history. Outrage over this decision led to strong fan support for Fanny Pak, who went on to win the Battle for the VMAs competition at the end of the season, while SoReal Cru finished third in that competition.

Special Episode: Battle for the VMAs

At the beginning of the show, champions JabbaWockeeZ and Super Cr3w performed to a remix of We Are the Champions choreographed by Shane Sparks.

Five crews from Season One and Two were given music videos nominated for Best Dancing in a Video. Like the Video Star Challenge, crews performed with the video behind them and tried to match up the moves in the video while keeping their own style. From this lot, three crews were selected and their standing made subject to public voting. The two crews with the highest votes would perform at the VMA Preshow. So Real Cru, Kaba Modern, and Fanny Pak made it, leaving Breaksk8 and Status Quo out.

Crew Video
Kaba Modern (Season 1) 4 Minutes by Madonna featuring Justin Timberlake
BreakSk8 (Season 1) Closer by Ne-Yo
SoReal Cru (Season 2) Forever by Chris Brown
Fanny Pak (Season 2) When I Grow Up by the Pussycat Dolls
Status Quo (Season 1) Damaged by Danity Kane

Fanny Pak and Kaba Modern had faced off in the VMA Preshow and America was asked to vote again.

Fanny Pak danced to Damaged by Danity Kane and Kaba Modern danced to Closer by Ne-Yo. Lindsay Lohan and Ciara had announced that Fanny Pak had won the dance off.
