American recording artist Christina Aguilera has released seven studio albums, one compilation albums, one extended play, one soundtrack album, one demo album, twenty-five official singles, four video albums and thirty-one music videos. Aguilera recorded and released a commercially unsuccessful album at the age of 15, entitled Just Be Free. In 1998, Aguilera was selected to record the song "Reflection" for the Disney animated feature film Mulan (1998).

After recording "Reflection", Aguilera signed a recording contract with RCA Records and released her self-titled debut album on August 24, 1999. The album reached the top of the Billboard 200, eventually selling over nine million copies in the U.S. Her singles "Genie in a Bottle", "What a Girl Wants" and "Come On Over Baby (All I Want Is You)" topped the Billboard Hot 100 during 1999 and 2000, and "I Turn to You" reached number three. In 2000, Christina began recording her first Spanish-language studio album and her second studio album titled Mi Reflejo, which was released on September 12, 2000 and contained Spanish versions of songs from her English debut as well as new Spanish tracks. As well, in 2000 Aguilera released her third studio album My Kind of Christmas.

Following three studio albums, Aguilera contributed to two commercial successful collaborations in 2001, "Nobody Wants to Be Lonely" a duet with Ricky Martin and "Lady Marmalade" with Lil' Kim, Mýa and Pink. On October 26, 2002 Aguilera's fourth studio album, Stripped was released. The album sold more than 330,000 copies in the first week and peaked at number two on the Billboard 200.[1] The album's second single, "Beautiful", was a commercial success and helped the album's commercial performance, it peaked at number 2 in the United States. Four other singles where released from the album: Dirrty, "Fighter", "Can't Hold Us Down", and "The Voice Within". Stripped has sold over 10 million copies worldwide.[2]

Aguilera's fifth studio album Back to Basics, released August 10, 2006, sold 346,000 copies in debuting at number one in the United States,[3] as well as reaching number one in the UK and eleven other countries. Aguilera described the double CD as "a throwback to the 20s, 30s, and 40s-style jazz, blues, and feel-good soul music, but with a modern twist."[4] It produced three chart topping singles: "Ain't No Other Man", "Hurt" and "Candyman"."Slow Down Baby" and "Oh Mother" were released in selected countries as the final single.

After five studio albums altogether, Aguilera released her first greatest hits album Keeps Gettin' Better: A Decade of Hits, which has sold 500,000 copies in the United States.[5] It spawned the single "Keeps Gettin' Better". Aguilera's sixth studio album Bionic (2010), which incorporated aspects of R&B, electropop and synthpop, was met with mixed reviews and low sales.[6][7][8][9][10][11] Three singles were released from the album "Not Myself Tonight", "Woohoo" and "You Lost Me". She has been cited by Billboard, as the 'Top Female' artist in the United States for the years 2000 and 2003[12], and was ranked as one of the 'Top 20 Artists of the Decade' in the US[13]. Aguilera is also the second top selling single artist of the 2000s behind Madonna.[14] Aguilera's album sales are estimated at 50 million units worldwide[15][16], making her one of the best-selling music artists of all time.[17][18]
