== Chaminade High School (Mineola, NY) - edits on 16 January 2014 by built1905 == |
|||
John - for Chaminade High School edits that of mine that you reversed on 16 January 2014, you indicate that a source should be referenced other than the school. My question is this: where else would one obtain data regarding tuition, size of student body, etc. except from the school? It would be like asking Yale University to provide the tuition and enrollment for Harvard. No one questioned the prior statistical edits to Chaminade High School article (size of student body, rivalries, tuition, fees (there are no contrary to the article), which are clearly erroneous and were not referenced either, so why question the statistics that come from the school's annual report? |

Versailles Sports
The reason I reverted your edit is because a lot of the information there is not displayed on the school page. Under the school pages current setup, it isn't feasible to include it there without it looking good. I can try to include it there later, but in the meantime, the best place for it would be in the Versailles page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.137.165.251 (talk) 05:27, 8 December 2013 (UTC)
- I have started a discussion at the article's webpage. please take this there. John from Idegon (talk) 05:35, 8 December 2013 (UTC)
Hi John, I hope you have been well and are enjoying the holiday season. I wanted to share that I just created and submitted for review my article, 'William R. Greiner (academic).' Should you have a moment, I will appreciate and be honored if you could review it and share with me your comments and suggestions. :-) Thanks, Daniellagreen (talk) 02:44, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
- Yes actually things have been superb. Had a birthday, spent the weekend with my son and rekindled an old romance. What more could a guy ask for? I would be happy to take a look at your article. I trust you have read WP:NPROF? John from Idegon (talk) 03:27, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
- Wow. You amaze me. it is great. just a couple small things. since the lede is supposed to be a summary of the article, it commonly is not referenced at all--the references on the article itself should suffice for a properly written lede. The only problem is it isn't really a good lede. You came up through journalism, so i know you know how to write a lede. pretty much it is the same as a news story; you should be able to get the short version of the entire article by reading the lede. there is an issue with the pic in the infobox which I will fix for you. you can take a look at how I did it for future reference. and I would lose the family by his side at his death comment. that really isn't all that encyclopedic. other than that great work! give me a bump when you finish your rewrite on the lede. John from Idegon (talk) 03:37, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
- Gee, thank you! I appreciate your compliments. And, I'm glad things are going so well for you - impressive, and happy birthday! :-) I have followed your suggestions. Really, I wasn't sure about whether or not to just make one simple statement for the lede, or to write a summary paragraph as sort of an introduction. I looked at a few different examples, and most of them appear to have a short summary introduction, but none of them were consistent. So, I just went with what I knew - it was editable. Lol. I edited out the "family by his side" statement and reference. And, thank you for fixing my photo of him in the info box - I didn't know how to correct that! Thanks very much, and happy holidays to you and yours! Ho, ho, ho! :-) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Daniellagreen (talk • contribs) 04:16, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
- Hey, Daniella....thanks for your good wishes. I will have a Very Merry Christmas this year. I am going to go ahead and move your article to mainspace. If it isn't a disambiguation problem, I will be dropping the parenthetical qualifier. PS. You have got this down...next time, you don't need it reviewed. Just move it to mainspace from your sand box when you think it ready. Feel free to drop by and ask for help on anything, any time.John from Idegon (talk) 04:27, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you, John. I hope it doesn't go to your head, but you are my favorite editor on Wikipedia! :-) I really appreciate all of your assistance and support; it is very refreshing! This was the other major project that I had in mind; the Gernatt article was a test article for me. I feel quite confident in my skills now; I have learned much, particularly from you. I'm very excited and pleased about the creation of another article - yeh! I think the disambiguation to 'Bill' will be fine. People who knew him called him Bill. I just wonder about one thing - I noticed that the article also appears in my sandbox, and I wondered how it can get cleared out of there so I can continue to use an empty sandbox. Lol. I will also have a Merry Christmas, and am glad you will, too. God bless, Daniellagreen (talk) 14:49, 9 December 2013 (UTC) Oh, I will also go back and edit out the redundancy in the article when I have a bit more time. Thanks again, Daniellagreen (talk) 14:53, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
- Talkpage stalker swoops in to say... Daniella, once the article you were working on in your sandbox has been copied to mainspace, you can just wipe your sandbox down. (The old version before you wiped it clean will still be in the edit-history of your sandbox should you ever need it.) You can also made a new subpage, called sandbox2, sandbox3, and so on — although I recommend using more descriptive names, like Working Draft Of Article About Larry The Lemur. ...actually, there is some rule about naming, to make sure that people don't put non-Notable 'articles' in their userspace permanently, maybe John or Anne can tell you what it is. Anyways, hope this helps, thanks for improving wikipedia. 74.192.84.101 (talk) 18:15, 10 December 2013 (UTC)
- To Anonymous, I appreciate your suggestions, but not your sarcastic and offensive comments left on my talk page. Daniellagreen (talk) 19:46, 10 December 2013 (UTC)
- John, I wonder if you might take a look at the concerns I've shared on the talk page of Bill Greiner. I also think I might have a solution that will eliminate any controversy about the blog articles that were originally included as cites and references in this piece. Thanks, Daniellagreen (talk) 19:46, 10 December 2013 (UTC)

Hi John. Thanks for taking the initiative. Please go ahead and do this if ever you come across more non notable primary (elementary) schools or middle schools. When creating the redirect, please remember to add the R from school template to the redirect. Happy editing! Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 00:17, 10 December 2013 (UTC)

Monta Vista High School Suggestion
I saw your edit summary for your edit on Monta Vista High School. I just wanted to give you a friendly heads up that notariaty [sic] is not the same as notability. I could revert your edit on that basis, but I choose not to. Others may not be so kind. --Auric talk 12:21, 10 December 2013 (UTC)
do you have a topic you would like to opine about?
Hello John, you signed up for this sub-project (namely User_talk:Mark_Miller#WP:WER_op-ed) over at the WP:RETENTION talkpage. The other folks I've met before, so I had some idea about what that they might be interested in publishing as op-eds, in the initial run. I'm guessing that we'll try to expand the authorship, once the ball is rolling, of course. But in the meantime, we need to start that rolling-thing. :-) Thanks, and good work with Danielle btw. p.s. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of people from Seattle, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page ER (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Flags in infoboxes
Hi John, I noticed some of your recent talk page entries regarding the use of flags in infoboxes. You are indeed correct. While flags are not appropriate in most infoboxes, they are acceptable in settlement infoboxes: "Human geographic articles – for example settlements and administrative subdivisions – may have flags of the country and first-level administrative subdivision in infoboxes; however, physical geographic articles – for example, mountains, valleys, rivers, lakes, and swamps – should not (WP:INFOBOXFLAG). Revert on the Cardinal Gibbons Page
I understand how my edit could be viewed as biased, but I assure you that with my experience in the Cardinal Gibbons Community, that is the most prestigious program, and is regarded as such by both students and faculty. I would be happy to change the phrasing of my statement, but I do feel that my contribution is helpful. Please reconsider. Thank you so much and have a wonderful new year. Hey John
I have no idea what you mean when you reject my article. When you tried to read it, was there not enough written or was there nothing there? Sorry this seems like a silly question but I would really appreciate feedback on the article. Thank you so much! God bless. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Msmonkeybean (talk • contribs) 16:21, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
I always seem to disagree...
Hey John, I really appreciate your help but I am trying to get this article on Wikipedia. So I really need to know how. I know that Adam Buckley is notable, but why isn't YouTube recognized as a reliable source for his notability. The man in this article has almost 400,000 subscribers on YouTube, 21,000+ followers on Twitter, and his page has 40,000+ likes on Facebook.
So since I know that he is notable enough (which he is, there shouldn't be a question) I am going to make a scenario.
The mayor of my hometown does not have a Wikipedia, but he is notable enough to. Adam Buckley has more influence on society than the mayor of my hometown, as the mayor's influence only spans about 25,000 people. Adam Buckley's influence reaches over 400,000 people. So what exactly makes the mayor's notability be recognized? Do you understand what I am asking? Why can the mayor of a small town in North Carolina have a Wikipedia page, but Adam Buckley can't?
And here is my final question. What sources would you view as reliable to cite notability.
Thank you so much for your time. I know that you are probably very very busy and I appreciate all the help you are giving me. I understand I probably seem a bit standoffish, but I don't know how else to say this. I just really think this man has earned a spot on Wikipedia. Have a wonderful day! Your kindness is acknowledged! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Msmonkeybean (talk • contribs) 17:04, 2 January 2014 (UTC)

Seven Lakes High School
Hi- I don't necessarily have a problem with you reversing that edit I made to Seven Lakes High School, however I don't feel that it was not neutral as you seemed to suggest. In fact, what the line in question was talking about was the "Chronicle Cup", an award given to distinguished high school athletic programs. A high school must be "superb" in order to receive such an award, so by calling SLHS that, I was merely making a distinction between regular/so-so HS athletic programs and that of SLHS which won this 2008 Chronicle Cup on the merits of its athletic program. That's all. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rovv123 (talk • contribs) 02:49, 14 January 2014 (UTC)
No one questioned the prior statistical edits to Chaminade High School, which are clearly erroneous, so why would mine be questioned? Thanks,
