Nick Kellogg help?

I saw you created the DJ Cooper page. I've never created an article before and started with Nick Kellogg. I've only done edits here and there for the past few months, trying to clean up things involving the Ohio University Bobcats. Kind of a learn as I go thing. Didnt know if you could take a look at it and possibly improve it. I do see you do a great job updating everywhere. Any help or tips would be appreciated. Thanks a bunch! NCAA basketball team navboxes

I'll leave them all as redlinks then. The reason I was linking them was the red link suggested there was no collective info on a particular teams coaching tree, when in fact the template starts the process. There's nothing to suggest an editor can begin a more extensive article (like North Carolina, Kentucky, or UCLA, but I'm guessing it's going to be a long time before that occurs for many of the lesser known teams. Plus I thought it confusing to have the team navbox be redlinked, yet have another navbox with the coaching information below it......Or show no information on a particular college coaching history on the team or year page, but find the coaching template on a coaches page....Pvmoutside (talk) 23:31, 23 January 2014 (UTC)

Brad Robinson (basketball)

Hi Jrcla2, and thanks for reverting my bad edit to Brad Robinson (basketball). I had been attempting to apply WP:DATERANGE (between <date1> and <date2>) but didn't read the article carefully enough. I'm grateful to you for correcting this for me.

With regard to the other changes you reverted, I presume you have no objection to the application of WP:NBSP to "215 pounds". I concede that my change of "sophomore" to "second" is more debatable, but I did this on the MOS principle: "Avoid words and phrases that give the impression of straining for formality, that are unnecessarily regional, or that are not widely accepted." The word "sophomore" is undoubtedly a regional term, not widely understood outside North America, and "second year" is universally understood. I cannot understand why we should deliberately make the article more difficult for a worldwide readership to understand. Does "sophomore" carry extra connotations which are not conveyed by "second"? I've never come across the word "sophomore" before, so am unsure as to such nuances. On the other hand, one could argue that the Brad Robinson (basketball) article is so unlikely to be of interest to anyone outside North America that the use of local dialect such as this may be excusable. I have no objection to adding WP:NBSP to 215 pounds (I didn't see that edit or else I'd have left it in...I'll go in and re-insert it myself). The thing about "sophomore" versus "second year" is that since the article's subject is an American basketball player who is notable for his American collegiate career, the context of sophomore is appropriately used. It doesn't exactly fall under WP:ENGVAR, which is more about "color" versus "colour," but the umbrella concept is the same. If Brad Robinson ended up playing professionally in another country outside of the United States, I'd have less of an objection because he would then be more of a universal person of interest. Like you mentioned, he will only really be of interest/known to people in North America, but probably more specifically the United States, so I think sophomore should be left in. Looking like Augustine Rubit won't hit 2000 points. He'd have to average 25 ppg the rest of the way and the team is so bad they'll have no postseason after their conference tourney. Also you're incorrectly formatting honors such as consensus All-Americans, years of NBA All-Star Games, etc. Leave basketball players' infoboxes alone, you clearly do not know the consensus on what is to be included and how it is to be formatted. You're undoing literally hundreds of hours (or more) of man hours' worth of editing by myself and other college basketball/NBA editors who have (a) already gained consensus on what is to be included, and (b) been around the proverbial block on the basketball-related realms of Wikipedia and have much more familiarity with standards than you. UVA's "Tennessee Turnaround"

Hey, man; saw you kicked that off, and, uhh, I think that's definitely part of their lore now. I see a handful of articles, not just one, that refer to it as the "Tennessee Turnaround", and literally hundreds that mention it in some fashion; their SG Joe Harris going over to Coach Tony Bennett's house, and how they went from the gutter to ACC Regular Season and Tournament champs for the first time since 1976. I'd say that is now as much a part of their lore as the Chaminade Upset. Just because only a handful of news articles actually refer to it by that term doesn't mean it's not notable, and yeah, I'd say it'll mean more to the Cavaliers than putting Valpraiso one more game into the NCAA tournament. Can we slap it back up?

It's really just recentism; no way is it "as much a part of their lore as their Chaminade upset" – not even close. That Chaminade upset is considered one of the greatest upsets in college basketball history, has had thousands of articles written about it, a documentary made about it, and is the entire reason the Maui Invitational Tournament exists. If you want to write something up on the "Tennessee Turnaround" as a few sources have called it, that would be appropriate as a standalone section in 2013–14 Virginia Cavaliers men's basketball team, not as a separate article. Question about division ii templates

Hello, Jrcla2 I have noticed that you have helped identify some of my division ii standings templates in the past. I have ran into an editor who is claiming that the standings don't have notability, even though I place the templates into the season article. An example is Template:1986 Missouri Intercollegiate Athletic Association football standings and I have linked it to the page for the 1986 NCAA Division II football season. I have noticed on this editors talk page that (him or herself) has had several articles nominated for deletion and is on a vendetta. I would like to avoid an edit war if at all possible. Therefore, the articles Washington Capitols and Sacramento Kings should not be in Category:Basketball Association of America teams, because those teams' main categories are already in it. Hi - I was redlinking Lamar Patterson on some articles and came across a formatting issue I couldn't resolve on three Pitt season articles - 2008–09 Pittsburgh Panthers men's basketball team thru 2010–11 Pittsburgh Panthers men's basketball team. Was wondering if you could help. All of the players in these articles were linked - obviously not all the players are even close to notable. His Eurobasket profile. Also, when creating players' articles whose primary professional notability is overseas, I find it's very useful to check to see if an interwiki version of the article exists. The Italian, Spanish, and French Wikipedias are by far the best at basketball players' articles. Thank you for reviewing my edits and seeing what I do; it is much appreciated. I almost literally mark all my edits as "minor edits" because they are usually small things that don't change the content or information of the article and they don't need to be examined by a reviewer. The vast majority of my edits have been edits that don't need to be reviewed. They include:

• Spelling and grammatical corrections
• Simple formatting
• Formatting that does not change the meaning of the page
• Obvious factual errors
• Fixing layout errors
• Adding or correcting wikilinks, or fixing broken external links and references already present in the article
• Removing obvious vandalism

UT Arlington

I don't understand the warning. You mentioned the consensus is that UT Arlington is Texas Arlington. How so? One guy changed it because that's what ESPN had, I reverted back to the original (many of them I created myself) and then he says to start a talk page after he moved it.

The University wishes for its athletic teams to be known as such (see page three of the basketball media guide, grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/txar/sports/m-baskbl/auto_pdf/2013-14/prospectus/prospectus.pdf) and the main page is branded as such (www.utamavs.com). The Conference it belongs to refers to it as UT Arlington (http://www.sunbeltsports.org/index.aspx?path=uta). Even media outlets like Fox Sports refer to UTA as UT Arlington (http://msn.foxsports.com/collegebasketball/story/UT-Arlington-defeats-ULM-8574-53032160). The major daily newspaper refers to them as UT Arlington (http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/college-sports/other-colleges/20140306-ut-arlington-sneaks-past-troy-in-double-overtime.ece). In fact, the only ones who consistently don't are ESPN and TreyDavis3.

NJCAA

I've been working some on the Chris Jans article. Bowling Green is his first NCAA D1 head coaching job, his previous HC jobs were in the NJCAA which i can find nothing on. Didn't know if you had any idea where to find info on that. I can find current info but teams could've switched conferences since he was there in the 90's. Junior college information is next to impossible to find. The exception to that statement is if that junior college eventually becomes Division I (like Boise State or Cal State Fullerton), because then the team media guide normally lists yearly results.
