Thousands of individuals have suffered from Ebola virus disease (EVD), with some individuals notable as index cases or for having been doctors who treated other patients before becoming ill.
2000 – 2001 Uganda outbreak
- Matthew Lukwiya — died on 5 December 2000.[1]
2013 – 2014 West Africa epidemic
