Requesting a review

You seem to do a lot of image work so I'd like a second opinion: Wikipedia:Possibly_unfree_files/2015_September_9#File:Goodall_Cup_Replica_Cup_2014.png

withdrawn because the uploader provided new information, however they seemed a bit upset about the initial referral, so I'd like some feeedback either way.

How far down the deletion process have you gone?

In a recent purge of improperly licensed images, you have flagged a file I uploaded File:Bill C11 Canada Cartoon RMS.jpg as a false positive. Claiming that the copyright owner has not given permission (or that the proof of this is hard to find) is false for the following reasons:

• A statement permitting use in any medium for any purpose provided that there is attribution appears on the image itself.
• The summary template I included with the image has a link to the page where the image (and therefore the license statement) can be found.
• The author of the image is the world's most vocal proponent of free licenses. All editors with an interest in licensing should know that he has spoken at WMF conferences in the past to support any and all media that can help it.

The template you placed at the top (which I have now removed) said that the file will be deleted if an adequate permission link is not provided. In theory, this means it will never be deleted because a permission link was always there to begin with. But in what sense is this image still "up for deletion"? Is there an AfD page where I must go to defend it before an admin makes the final call? Is the person waiting to delete it you or someone else? Connor Behan (talk) 17:14, 24 September 2015 (UTC)

If the tag is removed it's no longer up for deletion. It would be nice if we had some other evidence of the copyright status besides a tiny watermark at the bottom of the image, but I'm not too worried about it. Kelly ^hi! 17:17, 24 September 2015 (UTC)

Permissions for files NB3DT6321.jpg and File:LS40075.jpg

The first of these files was not used and can be deleted. The second of these is a photograph taken by the late Neil Lawson who was killed taking a similar photograph in 2007 [Link to BBC News]. This is regarding the file permission problems for File:Maarthaanda-Varma-comics.png, File:MarthandaVarma Reprints.png, and File:Marthandavarma-Translations.png. We are processing requests for consents from the individual publishers, Sahitya Pravarthaka Co-operative Society, D. C. Books, Poorna Publications, Kerala Sahitya Akademi, Rachana Books, Chintha Publishers, Sahitya Akademi, Sterling Publishers, IBH Publishers, Balarama Amara Chithra Katha, and Amar Chitra Katha as possible; however the processing will not be able to complete in a short span of time, due to requirements of outlay in a month end, and also with uncertainty that whether every party involved will respond to the first attempt. So, we have compiled {{non-free fair use}} template information for the above three sets, we could replace the present descriptions to that, if there are no issues; and we could change it to present ones once after availing consents from the respective parties. Help Akshardham Environment Violation Section & Protest at launch event for Book

Hello,

If you have time would you please take a look at this article: [1] and this discussion [2] and provide your input. There is a content dispute occurring and I feel fresh eyes would help because of your experience. [3].

Also, if you have time , could you see if you have anything additional to add to this talk page? There was a book launch [4] and a translation author was asked not to come because she is a woman and an organization prohibits their holy men from looking at women. This is not typical in normal Hinduism but this is a practice in this branch. The person was offended and there was public outcry. Is this considered something that is notable and included?

The sculpture depicted in this image was installed in 1901 and its creator, Lazaros Sochos, died in 1911. Under Greek law, the copyright expired seventy years after his death, in 1981, and even before that, "occasional use" depictions in other media. But these are moot points, since the image is no longer in use in the Kolokotronis article nor in any another. Hi Atsme - I've added an {{OTRS pending}} tag to the image. I would advise contacting an OTRS member to check on the license; if a ticket hasn't been added after this amount of time there is likely a problem with the permission e-mail. I have verified that File:Gabor Racz Surgery.jpg and File:Gabor Racz Lecture.jpg have been released under the Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY_SA 4.0) license via OTRS ticket #2014041110016312 (I am on the OTRS team). The permissions are in order for those two images. The File:Gabor B. Not sure why you did this, but it's not helpful. The 'OTRS received' tag is to grant the contributor some time to sort things out, we grant 30 days for that per our standard practices. Lotta-Colour-LoRez.gif

Hello, I added this photo to the Lotta Hitschmanova article in 2007. I obtained the photo from the office of USC Canada which owns the photo. I told them that I was updating the Wikipedia article and that a photo would greatly add to the quality of the article. They provided this photo and gave me permission to use it for this purpose.

I have long since lost that email conversation. I have sent another email to them about this new permissions request. I would ask that you to wait until I hear back from them before you remove it from Wikipedia.
