Thank you for that KylieTastic, very helpful. I have followed your advice and looked for concensus on the talk pages of both 'cuckold' and 'hotwife' so hopefully some progress will occur. One last question, i know I will have to wait to see how this pans out but I what point can I go back and make my edit assuming nobody has a problem with it and is there some timeframe I need to be aware of after being blocked from making the edits to these articles.

Thanks

  • BMI PUBLISHED ARTIST AND SONGS - New claim without source - If true there should be sources that show this.
  • US COPYRIGHT SONGS - All original works are copyrighted so irrelevant
  • owner www.johnnygems.com - Anybody can have a website - and all it really says is "The official site is coming soon…"
  • NY DEPARTMENT OF STATE OWNER CASH BOY RECORDS LLC - New claim not a reference
  • YOUTUBE JOHNNYGEMSVEVO YOUTUBE CHANNEL, PERSONAL JOHNNY GEMS YOUTUBE CHANNEL WITH RELEASED SONGS AND EPK., - not an independent source
All the above show is that Johnny Gems is an artist that has made some songs, got a website, youtube channels and registered a company. Many artist do this when setting up. For a music artist to have an article on Wikipedia they need to pass the Wikipedia:Notability (music) policy. Regards KylieTastic (talk) 20:21, 2 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

For cleaning up my edits in the Rape article. I will be more careful with my editing tool. Best Regards, Barbara (WVS) (talk) 23:57, 6 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi Barbara (WVS) no worries - unfortunately it happens a lot with people changing back and forth between types of hyphen, I fix many such issues most weeks. Luckily most editors quickly learn how easy the tools they use make it to break images, urls, wikilinks etc and take more care as you said. Unfortunately some names pop up on a regular basis, and appear not to care. All the best, and happy editing KylieTastic (talk) 20:38, 7 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

16:42:07, 7 December 2015 review of submission by BeaufortPatrick

HI Kyletastic - thanks very much for your response. Could you please elaborate on which information needs supporting sources/verification? The biographical details are fairly straightforward - how much detail is required? Or is it a question of providing links to the publishers? I looked at Julian Maclaren-Ross' entry, which is similar, and could not see much in the way of citations. Any guidance you could offer would be much appreciated. Thank you.

  • Hi BeaufortPatrick I had assumed the intent was all information was included in the Obituaries section but it is far from clear. I guess maybe not all of the obituaries are not online, but I'm assuming you had copies to work from otherwise. Thus a big improvement would be to improve the obituaries listed as references. Firstly for those that do not know the publications the refs would be difficult to follow, if you use the ref toolbar or Template:Cite news (or cite web) directly you could add the url and page numbers and any other helpful details. Secondly if you <ref name="">... </ref> tags with names you can add inline links to show which items come from which sources (see Help:Referencing_for_beginners#Same_reference_used_more_than_once and Wikipedia:Inline citation). Obviously its easier for people to verify online links when they exist and that would help get the article accepted more easily, however its certainly not mandatory. I've not got the time to be more helpful at the moment but I have added an example ref to The Scotsman link to give you an idea of a ref and using it in more than one place (you may wish to add <ref name=scotsman.com" /> to other points). Hope that help you along - all the best. KylieTastic (talk) 22:01, 7 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a way to prevent repeated vandalism to a page?

The page titled "The Thin Blue Line has attracted a person or persons who keep deleting cited info and replacing it with ether nothing or silly opinions. I'm not knowledgeable enough to fix this issue. Can you help or explain to me how I can fix it myself? 23:17, 10 December 2015 (UTC)98.25.9.242 (talk)

More vandalisum has now been done. i am going to leave it till tmro in order to prevent being accused of waring. but just look at the current version and the info that was removed.Schemel (talk) 00:47, 11 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi 98.25.9.242 and Schemel - Yes there is a way to try to stop repeated vandalism by IP users by submitting a request to Wikipedia:Requests for page protection. However as semi protecting the article would block all anonymous edits its usually only added for a short time. However in this case I'm not sure its vandalism per se rather than a a difference of opinion as both versions are unsourced. As such it would be best to find more sources as then edits removing sourced material would be reverted by more editors as non-constructive/vandalism. Regards KylieTastic (talk) 10:46, 11 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The information being removed and changed had 2 citations.Schemel (talk) 14:01, 11 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I have edited the info back to how it was before it was messed with. The info that is being removed is cited info that can be easily verified. I would like to request the protection you mentioned above for 30 days or so, in order to protect the page in hopes that the malicious editing will stop.Schemel (talk) 15:36, 11 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The vandal has repeatedly attacked the page and its talk page since protection was temporarily imposed. Is there anything else I should be doing?Schemel (talk) 22:03, 11 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi Schemel, I see they have chosen to not block ip editors but put the article requiring review - as such yes the ip editor may continue but it will be listed at Special:PendingChanges until someone with the relevant permissions accepts or reverts. So their edits are now being effectively watched by a lot of people so if they persist they will end up blocked. Unfortunately this sort of thing is the price we pay for the Anyone can edit) policy. As least they are not ip swapping every few edits like two other persistent vandals I'm tracking. So my advise is keep an eye on them; report any other targeted articles to Wikipedia:Requests for page protection if needed, but most of all don't let them wind you up. I know that can be difficult, but it's best to walk away from a problem user and continue to be a constructive editor another day than to let the tiny minority of problem editors wind you up and possibly drive you away. The article is being watched, so go have a great weekend. All the best KylieTastic (talk) 22:25, 11 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank youfor your help. the person has 2 ip addresses. also they went to the security guard page today and edited that I only noticed because I looked at his recent changes page. I fixed it and requested temporary semi protection but it was denied. again thank you for your help. I learned to do a cpl new things today.Schemel (talk) 22:32, 11 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Draft Data Excellence rejected.

Hello KylieTastic ! My article was rejected but I do not understand why?

This is the two cases what I understood: 1.This is the style of writing because you say: it is not an item worthy of an encyclopedia 2. Do I have edit my article in the wrong area ? Do I have write it in the sandbox ? If this case, i will remove my draft in the sandbox ?

So, can you clear up please your reject and explain the procedure to follow to be accepted ? Have a nice dayYanniyolo (talk) 05:00, 12 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi Yanniyolo the Articles for creation procedure is for submitting encyclopaedic articles, where the text you submitted was just a statement of who you are, etc. This would normally go on your user page User:Yanniyolo, and within a few restrictions you can put what you want on your User pages and they do not have to be submitted or accepted. This goes for all of your pages including your sandbox, which can be used to make test edits, or write new articles - so you are welcome to write there, its your area. Personal sandbox pages usually have the template {{User sandbox}} at the top that gives you the button to easily submit articles if that's what they contain.
  • So if this was meant as just a page to introduce yourself and what you would like to do on Wikipedia then you can just move/copy to User:Yanniyolo (just like I have mine User:KylieTastic)
  • However for an article to be accepted for the mainspace see the following articles:

EDIT: Sorry I got confused I thought you were talking about the article User:Yanniyolo/sandbox that I declined you mean Draft:Data Excellence which has not been declined, but it was moved from User:Yanniyolo/sandbox/Data Excellence by another editor. This article has not yet been reviewed and it looks well formatted and has a number of references, so someone willl get arround to reading, checking and reviewing soon enough. Note we currently have 325 article in the queue so how long it takes will depend on how many people are reviewing - Its a busy time of year for many. Hi Kylie, I thank you so much for helping me correct my first wiki page, i added references to article due to no cite indexing on page can you please re-check any advice i sure appreciate it thanks Kylietastic Toniaesposito76 (talk) 00:06, 15 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi Toniaesposito76 happy to have helped. Sorry I'm currently a bit busy with work for the next few days so not really got the time to look at it the moment. It's a long article with a lot of references, and although that makes it a longer job to review it's a good thing to have a well referenced submission. A quick look makes it look like it should pass notability which is also an important thing. The only problem I noticed is the in-line external links; generally external links are only allowed in the reference, external links sections at the bottom (or in the infobox) not in-line in the article text. The reason is people (readers) don't expect to go to another site from links in the text. All in-line links should be Wikilinks and external links as references. Apart from that it's looking good. I would suggest you tidy these up first, but then you can either submit for review (lots more editors review with much more experience than me), or ask for more advise at the Wikipedia Teahouse where lots of experienced editors and admins hang out. On that last point I am not an admin here - so thanks for the barnstar but I had to remove so as not to make others think I was. All the best KylieTastic (talk) 15:42, 15 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hairstyles

I was wondering if you are a hairstylist... I am a hairstylist and there are quite a few errors in those descriptions.... JessBant (talk) 19:10, 15 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi JessBant I see your talking about List of hairstyles - no I'm not a hairstylist, my edit was purely maintenance (reverting an invalid attempt to use an external image). Be careful when doing such large changes, especially until you understand the wiki-markup. For instance you changed a valid link to Afro-textured hair to an invalid link natural ethnic. Also note that such things could be a mater of opinion, or local usage (English Wikipedia is for all English speaking countries). Another error you introduced was changing [[Temple Fade (hairstyle)|Blowout]] to [[ (hairstyle)|Blowout]] - the double square brackets are Wikilinks (links to other articles), if it contains a pipe | then the first part if the article (the one you changed from Temple Fade (hairstyle) to invlid (hairstyle) the second part is what is displayed. So it still shows Blowout, but the link is now broken (it was Blowout). Regards KylieTastic (talk) 19:39, 15 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there Kylie. I just wanted to mention that I removed the speedy deletion template, not the creator of the article. I do believe the subject is notable, at least in her profession of stripping, and that the article can be rescued. Coretheapple (talk) 21:55, 16 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi Coretheapple yup I had noticed. I replaced the tag only because they ignored it's contents as the article creator and removed rather than contest. I then made a couple more edits and was just looking to see myself if the speedy was still valid as they had added content when you got there before me. The notice on the talk page was for their removal (before even adding any refs) not yours. All the best KylieTastic (talk)

Jules-Ladoumègue (Vitrolles) Stadium article image

Hi there,

I understand why you removed the image path from the infobox in the

Jules-Ladoumègue (Vitrolles) Stadium article, (and one other small article I had done). However, this image does exist on the frwiki article if you look at that. Where does this image ly?

Endo999 (talk) 20:25, 19 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi Endo999 it looks like the image was upldoaed to the French Wikipedia. Images can only be used on each language Wikipedia in on there own language or uploaded to commons. My French is not that good, but I believe the red tag on that image says that it its not suitable for transferring to commons. I would guess because of the French laws on pictures of buildings. I don't know if it would be allowable to upload on English Wikipedia, if you wanted to upload to English Wikipedia I would ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions for help. Antirom

I'm not blind, I just hadn't realised the image had been deleated....I've corrected the link so it's visible. must say I'm confused as why so much effort has been made to get rid of it as the image is only there to illustrate the article and is of no monetary value but is of historical interest being the only image of the full lineup of the original team, you'd have thought wiki moderators would have bigger fish to fry.

  • Hi Synthiaks yup sorry about that edit comment just let frustration with the real problem users spill over, which is totally unacceptable, so again sorry. I'm not sure why the original was deleted as only admins can see info on files after they are deleted and the reason "Violates non-free use policy" can be very open to opinion. I'm had enough troubles on the other side of that argument with my files being deleted. As for "so much effort" its not really - its just the combination of individuals doing different bits of work. The first would be someone who reviews uploads, the second an admin going though flagged files, then a bot kicked in and removed the dead link, and on my part I review Category:Articles with missing files to try to spot various issues from vandalism; editors correcting text in file names and breaking them; attempts to hot-link images etc. So I just noticed yours in passing the hundreds I review each week. As for "bigger fish to fry", copyright is a very important issue as if Wikipedia did not take it very serious they could have serious legal issues compromising the project. Yours would have been just one in probably several hundred removed each week. Hopefully they will let your new image stand, I had a quick look and you've done a good job with the info added, but as I said it comes done to a matter of opinion. All the best KylieTastic (talk) 15:03, 22 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi KylieTastic no worries and thanks for your comments, I appreciate copyright is a large and complex issue (i work in film so have to deal with clearance issues on a daily basis which can be mind numbingly frustrating) but as its for illustative/historical purposes just seems weird to have it taken down as no one is profiting from it....anyhow, I've also emailed Jeremy the photographer as well just to see if he has any opinion on it's use & made him aware of my uploading it to the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Synthiaks (talkcontribs) 15:29, 22 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi Synthiaks, often the copyright holders do not mind an image being used but the problem is, apart from the fair use of Non-free content, if an image is used outside of this then Wikipedia needs to be granted full permission rather than just permission to use. The reason is people expect to be able to take anything from Wikipedia and use copyright free. So you have two options use as you are as Non-free content, or if they want to get the copyright holder to release permission via OTRS see: Wikipedia:OTRS noticeboard.
  • please note this is just my understanding - I'm no expect on the whole copyright issues, if in doubt ask at The [Wikipedia:Teahouse for more help.

I have added citations which was the request of an editor on the page. I'm wondering how the page will be reviewed moving ahead and how I will know when it is published. Thank you.

  • Hi Gsukin good to see your working on it - I see your problem the 'Resubmit' button hasn't appeared as you appear to have turned the template into static text. I've fixed that so you can re-submit when when happy. I haven't looked at the details as its been a rough day dealing with abusive vandals and I've had enough, however I wanted to just be polite and point you in the correct direction. If you want more input before submitting I suggest the Wikipedia:Teahouse where lots of experienced editors and admins try to help. Also to answer the other part of your question once you re-submit you should be notified on your talk page of either an acceptance/publish or it the reviewer thinks other issues need addressing. Hey KylieTastic! Thanks for all the great work at the Teahouse! I'm pretty heavily involved with copyright issues so though I hate playing the schoolmarm I felt compelled to drop a note when I saw "All images on commons must be copyright free" at a recent post. Images licensed under a free copyright license. e.g., CC-BY-SA 3.0, are copyrighted and the copyright requires compliance by anyone seeking to use it to comply with that copyright. If I upload an image I own under such a free license, I still own the image, have not given up my copyright at all, and could even sue someone for misuse. The free license just makes the re-use (irrevocably) very non-restrictive. It would be correct to say "all images at the Commons must bear a suitably free copyright license or be copyright free". User Pages

It is clear that many new editors don't understand what a user page is, because there are a lot of sandbox drafts that are submitted to AFC that would be suitable for user pages but are not encyclopedic. At least that author, unlike the other one for whom I asked for help at the Teahouse, didn't berate me. Robert McClenon (talk) 18:30, 31 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi Robert| yes a lot could be done to help instruct new editors of the basics and stop the same old issues popping up... and yes reviewing the AFC submissions is a double edged sword as by helping out you do open yourself up to the kickbacks from the declines. I just keep reminding myself its all for the common good (say three times and click your heals). Cheers, and Happy New Year KylieTastic (talk) 18:35, 31 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Updating Shel Israel page

Shel Israel was very frustrated that he could not update his Wikipedia page to include his more recent books. Having edited other pages I made the changes to reflect the more recent books; most of them have remained in place.

However, he also wants to change his picture to one that shows him at a typewriter (and that you can find on his own blog at ShelIsrael.com.) He owns the copyright to the picture; it was taken as one submitted to Profile, publisher of Twitterville but not used. The picture was taken at his home by Brian Solis in 2009.

How do we get this sorted out so that he can use a picture to which he owns the copyright? Trying to figure out the copyright tags is simply a nightmare; he has no problem with doing any appropriate attributions and credits.

  • Hi JimCanuck the fact that you say "Shel Israel was very frustrated that he could not update his Wikipedia page" shows that you are probably unaware of a couple of Wikipedia policies. There is a strict Conflict of interest policy, and also as part of What Wikipedia is not a section covering that Wikipedia is not for promotion. I'm sure it was a figure of speech but to be clear it is not his Wikipedia page, but a page on Wikipedia about him - this is a distinction that is taken seriously here.
Also its not factually correct saying "could not update his Wikipedia page to include his more recent books" as even though I guessed you had a Conflict of interest I left most of the edits you made (see your remaining changes) including the updated info on "his more recent books". I just removed, this, the purely promotional statement about Amazon availability - Wikipedia is an Encyclopedia not a promotional platform.
Hopefully I can help explain the issue with the images, but I agree the whole copyright issue is a nightmare. Wikipedia has a policy of all content including images being licensed under a suitably free copyright license or be copyright free. He may own the copyright (but often subjects don't realise that unless formerly transferred the copyright is normally with the photographer even if they have asked for it to be taken) but even so it would have to be released under a suitably free copyright license. I'm no copyright expert but I'll advise you as best I can. As the image has been previously published you probably want to see Granting us permission to copy material already online. Basically the image on the blog would have to have a licensing comment added for a licence like CC-BY-SA. Alternatively if they do not want donate that image under a 'free' licence then they/you have two choices: leave Wikipedia to use what images other editors can find with a suitable license, or take and upload a new unpublished image and mark as released under a suitable licence.
I hope that helps explain things but if not maybe The Wikipedia Teahouse or the Commons Help desk would be places to ask for more detailed assistance. All the best KylieTastic (talk) 20:53, 5 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sobre Crianças, Quadris, Pesadelos e Lições de Casa... cover

Hello,

Thank you for fixing a bad image file on Sobre Crianças, Quadris, Pesadelos e Lições de Casa..., I just saw the image file was broken. However it's up and working over at the Portuguese version of the page, with the same file name. What went wrong when I put it on the English version? // Psemmler (talk) 19:27, 8 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi Psemmler the image did not work as images only work on the language they are uploaded too or if on Commons. Most images like this can not be uploaded to commons due to only accepting 'free' images. So you would need to upload this image locally as a non free image (Non-free content criteria). Upload starting with the File Upload Wizard and under the 'fair use' category there is an option for "This is the official cover art of a work.". I hope that helps, all the best KylieTastic (talk) 19:32, 8 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much. // Psemmler (talk) 19:34, 8 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

For Draft:Chillingollah Football Club, I just fixed a random wiki thing on it so it didn't stay there forever. You mind copying that to the actual creator so they know what's going on before it's G13'd? -- Ricky81682 (talk) 00:14, 9 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Fail

Thank you for repairing my momentary-lapse-of-reason in Tortoiseshell cat in the image. Of course, factually I know this can't be done...Sorry for the need to come behind me. Happy you did; the cats seem neglected sometimes. Happy editing, Fylbecatulous talk 22:30, 16 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Earlymanbc Edit question

Hi there I have just created an account on wikipedia and made some edits under cuckold and hotwife , the day before yesterday. They were taken down because I did not include the correct referencing format. I read up on how to include the proper citation and then made the edits again yesterday and included the book reference using what I believe is the correct citation system following the one already in exsistence on the entry. You have removed my edits, can I ask why ?, as I do not want to get into one of these edit wars. If I am doing something incorrectly I would rather know why. Hope to hear from you so we can resolve this.

Thanks

  • Hi Earlymanbc I did not remove your edits, I just reviewed your sandbox (this User:Earlymanbc/sandbox) and added feedback for your issue on the declien notice as you submitted it as a new article. The comment I left on that page was:
The correct place to talk about an issue is on the article talk page - in this case Talk:Cuckold or on the talk page of someone who revert you (you can see the names and talk links on here. Or ask for help at The Wikipedia:Teahouse
I'm at work at the moment so havnt got time to add much, but what you did the first time it was reverted was correct - you tried to fix the issue and posted a message on the reverting editors page here. When reverted a second time unless there is a specific issue pointed out that you can fix, you should discuss with the editor on their talkpage. The second revert didnt give a reason so asking why would have been the best thing to do, or ask for help/advise at the Wikipedia:Teahouse. The next revert gave a reason "erotica author, not a reliable source" (see Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources for what is classed as a reliable source. The next editor reverted for the same reason with "Rv paragraph sourced to non-RS" then with 3RR and posted the waring notice on your talk page. The reason for this is a policy we have see WP:3RR. If you want more information either talk to the reverting editors or ask at the Wikipedia:Teahouse where lots of experienced editor try to help new users.

Thanks
