Greg Lawrance

Gregory Connell Lawrance is an American media and fashion entrepreneur and investor. He is the co-founder and CEO of social influencer licensing and marketing agency Ready Go Licensing.[2][3] Lawrance was known for co-founding pioneering athleisure brand NUMBER:Lab.[3][4][5][6][7][8]

Early life & education

Lawrance was born on November 7 in Boston, Massachusetts. He attended the University of Rochester[3][9] where he graduated with a B.A. in Political Science.[3][9][10]  Other coursework included study through the University's Film and Media Studies Program,[3][9] graduate work in entrepreneurship at Rochester’s Simon School of Business[3][9][10] and piano instruction through Rochester's inter-departmental classical program at Rochester's top-ranked Eastman School of Music.[3][9][11] Lawrance crewed for the University’s sailing team, with which he competed in the annual U.S. Naval Academy’s McMillan Cup Regatta[3][9][12]—the oldest national collegiate sailing regatta in the U.S.[3][13]

Career

NUMBER Lab

In 2003, Lawrance co-founded (with designer and CFDA member Luis Fernandez) premium menswear brand: NUMBER Lab.[3][4][5][6][7][8] As one of the first "athleisure" brands—only RLX, Prada Sport and Zegna Sport co-existed in this whitespace at the time—NUMBER Lab has arguably earned Lawrance and Fernandez a place as pioneers of the athleisure apparel sector.[3]

What started-out as a "hobby" designing premium men's t-shirts evolved into a high-end, sport-inspired athleisure fashion brand.[3] NUMBER Lab was carried by top major and boutique retailers, including: Nordstrom;[3][14] Bloomingdale's;[3][15] Saks Fifth Avenue;[3][16] Fred Segal;[3] Ron Herman;[3] Equinox Fitness Clubs;[3][17] United Arrows[3] (Japan); TNT (Canada);[3] and Gotstyle (Canada).[3] The brand garnered praise from top fashion editors and key industry insiders, and was regularly featured in esteemed publications such as GQ,[3][18] Esquire,[3][19] Hypebeast[3][20], Men's Health,[3][21][22] Vogue,[3][23] New York Magazine,[3][24] The Wall Street Journal,[3][25] Paper Magazine[3][26] and Style.com.[3][27] NUMBER Lab was featured on athletes and celebrities including Neil Patrick Harris,[3][28] Josh Duhamel,[3][29] Evan Longoria,[3][30] Harrison Ford,[3] Chris Pine[3][31] and Matt Bohmer.[3][32] In 2012, Annie Leibowitz photographed NUMBER Lab designs on actor Jonathan Groff for a two-page feature in the July ('12) issue of Vanity Fair.[3][33]

NUMBER Lab produced and hosted high-profile presentations and runway shows during Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week.[3] The events were held at A-list venues in New York City including Milk Studios[3][34] and The Standard Hotel.[3][26][35] NUMBER Lab also secured sponsorships with major corporate partners like Gillette,[3][36][37] W Hotels[3][38] and M·A·C Cosmetics to co-finance its runway shows. In 2011, NUMBER Lab was invited to show at Aspen Fashion Week.[3][39][40] The same year, the company successfully opened and operated a one-year pop-up store in Manhattan's north Chelsea neighborhood.[3][41][42] In 2012, E! Entertainment Network covered the company's Fall-Winter 2012 runway show at Milk Studios[3][43] and later that spring, NUMBER Lab was accepted into the prestigious Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Fashion Incubator Program[3][8][44]—in company with fellow brands/designers CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund winner Johnathan Simikhai, Timo Weilland, Burkman Bros and Project Runway's Daniel Vosovic.[3][45] (Other notable program alumni include Prabal Gurung, Bibhu Mohapatra and Waris Ahluwalia-House of Waris.)[46]

READY GO Licensing

In 2016, Lawrance co-founded READY GO Licensing[3]—a full-service custom merchandise design (apparel, footwear, eyewear, cosmetics, fragrance), e-commerce and marketing agency serving exclusively the internet's most-popular and fastest-growing social media influencers.[3][47] READY GO's clients represent over half a billion YouTube views, and collectively reach an audience of 25 million individuals.[47][48][49][50] Some of the company's licenses include:[47]
