ArbCom 2017 election voter message

Hello, JackintheBox. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm RegistryKey. I noticed that you recently removed content from Dash without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. RegistryKey(RegEdit) 07:17, 28 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hallo there — my recent edit on Dash was a mistake — I must've removed much of the content by accident. I hope it won't happen again! JackintheBox (talk) 09:42, 28 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Economy of the Falkland Islands, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Rockcod (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:26, 11 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Issue fixed as of 9:35, 11 April (UTC). JackintheBox (talk) 01:51, 31 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! I notice that you (and Cluebot) reverted a couple of edits by an IP user on this article that I think were probably justified. Per WP:NOTDIRECTORY, it seems like the old festival schedules really shouldn't be kept around; the individual year schedules don't seem to vary much, and noting that, for instance, the "Holy Flag hoisting" took place 30 minutes later in 2016 than in 2015 doesn't seem particularly notable. As I noted on the talk page, if there are no objections I am planning to remove much of this stuff from the article. Thanks, PohranicniStraze (talk) 19:15, 1 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@PohranicniStraze: Hi! As the article is about an annual festival, I think you have a point. The old schedules can be removed if you believe it is redundant and no longer needed. —JackintheBox (talk) 19:25, 1 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop behaving like a welcome bot

Wikipedia deliberately does not have an automatic welcome when an account is created. Dozens if not hundreds of accounts are created every day that never make a single edit. Mass-welcoming them is a waste of time and resources that could be spent doing things that actually improve the encyclopedia. The community has rejected the idea of automatic welcomes. Beeblebrox (talk) 01:16, 3 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Beeblebrox: Alright. I thought it would be a good idea to welcome all accounts created on the English Wikipedia (not automatically created, as they might have come from other Wikipedias) to encourage them to make useful contributions and discourage vandalism by providing some useful links. Next time I will just welcome new users who have already made some edits, according to the nature of their edits. —JackintheBoxTALK 04:26, 3 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

June 2018

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Argentina national football team. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Repeated vandalism can result in the loss of editing privileges. Thank you. Nzd (talk) 05:35, 6 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Nzd: I have never intentionally made any unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as can be seen at my contributions page. One of the main things I do on Wikipedia is to revert and report vandalism. What I did on the page you mentioned was to revert the previous unconstructive edits to the good version, but as I clicked 'rollback' I did not realise you had already done the revert, therefore reverting your edit as well. Sorry for my mistake. —JackintheBoxTALK 05:40, 6 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I was just in the process of removing the warning as, looking back, I suspected as much. Cheers, Nzd (talk) 05:43, 6 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Nzd: All good! —JackintheBoxTALK 05:45, 6 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

About the recent removal

I removed that information because of recent political discussions about ageism and I spoke with the person about their page because he doesn't want to be discriminated against. — Preceding unsigned comment added by LouisGiordano (talkcontribs) 01:13, 11 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@LouisGiordano: I personally don't believe that including a person's birth date constitutes ageism, but anyway, thanks for the explanation. —JackintheBoxTALK 01:16, 11 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You might want to consider your reversion

You might want to consider your reversion of the blanking of this user page. It was blanked in 2010 by Risker, a member of the Arbitration Committee at the time after the user was indefinitely blocked along with account creation blocked and editing her own talk page suspended with the note "Please contact Arbcom with relation to this block". [1]. Best, Voceditenore (talk) 10:15, 11 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Voceditenore: @Risker: So, it was a few hours ago when I was just done reporting an IP address for vandalism, when I somehow came across a user page of an account (I forgot which). Naturally I decided to scroll through it, and I saw a message on the page from User:Sophie, saying something like "I've added you to my list of friendly users on my user page!" Out of curiosity I clicked on that user page to see how it looked like, and I was surprised when I saw it was completely blank. I looked into the page's history and found it was blanked back in 2010 — I figured someone decided to blank the page as the user became inactive, and nobody bothered to change it back since. I was confused, but I blindly decided to restore the page to the last 'vacant' version. I have no idea who that user is and have nothing to do with her. I would like to know further what had happened. Sorry for my naïvety. —JackintheBoxTALK 13:27, 11 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I see. JackintheBoxTALK 13:38, 11 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
JackintheBox, please sign the above "I see" comment which you just made [2]. Without a signature, it implies that it was either from me or Risker. Voceditenore (talk) 13:59, 11 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Voceditenore: Sorry. I just had a more thorough look at their past user page and talk page. —JackintheBoxTALK 14:01, 11 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

NPOV and reliable sources

I was just adding information that could be helpful to people I don't see an issue with that — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thehotelier123 (talkcontribs) 08:56, 13 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Your signature

Hi, please fix your signature, because it contains parser functions contrary to WP:SIG#NT. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 19:18, 13 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Redrose64: Is this alright? JACKINTHEBOXTALK 10:28, 14 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Kind of... you're now using double small, which is bad for accessibility. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 20:21, 14 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thank You

Hi JackintheBox,

I would like to thank you for constantly reverting the vandalism and disruptive editing done by vandals on the List of World Heritage in Danger. You're timely intervention is appreciated.

Regards.
