I received a message saying that my submission has been declined for the following reason:
"This appears to be a duplicate of another submission, Quek Kiat Sing, which is also waiting to be reviewed. To save time we will consider the other submission and not this one."

I would like to delete that version submitted by Limhl001 and replaced with the version submitted by kiatsing. How can I do this.

Thank you.

{{SAFESUBST:Void| 03:34:07, 10 July 2018 review of submission by Sipun.MISHRA

I need to know what all changes do I have to do for the article to be pubkished. Sipun.MISHRA (talk) 03:34, 10 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sipun.MISHRA. The cited sources lack depth on the subject of Iyer. Searches of the usual Google types, De Gruyter, EBSCO, Gale, HighBeam Research, JSTOR, Project MUSE, ProQuest, and Questia found no sources that would establish that this Subbu Iyer is notable, so it appears that Wikipedia should not include a biography of him. No amount of editing can overcome a lack of notability. --Worldbruce (talk) 04:06, 10 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

07:39:26, 10 July 2018 review of submission by Lungeandreas

How to increase subject's notability, if there aren't many articles about the company? Should i add information about the industry it's in? I'm asking because I've seen a lot of pages published without any notability at all. I would appreciate your feedback! Lungeandreas (talk) 07:39, 10 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Lungeandreas Hi, The sources draft page Draft:Mercans provided are either homepage or sources provided by the subject. If you can not find any other WP:independent reliable sources to back up the content claimed, then it would not justify to have a page in Wikipedia as the subject is considered not notable enough. Some page are not notable do exist in main space they have not been come around to be proposed for deletion and they will. Please see WP:OTHER. Thank you. 08:24:33, 10 July 2018 review of submission by SteveCraft29HD

I have to re-review because i want to make Finobe a better game. So i'm "editing" the article.

SteveCraft29HD (talk) 08:24, 10 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

SteveCraft29HD - Having a Wikipedia page won't make the game better. It was reviewed earlier today, due to lack of notoriety and notability. We require reliable secondary sources to talk in depth about the subject, and for them to be used as references. None of the references in the article meet these criteria!
They are all either blogs, YouTube, Wikias or Reddit (Which are all unreliable, and fail WP:USERGEN), or the companies own website, which isn't independent of the subject. If you can find these things, then the draft may be re-reviewed. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 09:55, 10 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

16:04:17, 10 July 2018 review of submission by Michaelcaswell

I'm checking to see what can be improved about my article to help with submission. It says it reads more like an advertisement, but all citations are in place and are written by 3rd party sources regarding the topic. All content is verifiable and accurate. Also, there are many articles for much smaller cigar brands that seem very similar in content. Any assistance is appreciated!

19:37:04, 11 July 2018 review of submission by GregRundlett

I really don't understand why my draft article for Pagure has been declined repeatedly as "advertising" when it's about a free software package (thus it's not a product, and there is no revenue associated with software). More to the point, there is an article for EVERY other similar software package that I know of, and even a comparison of them at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_source_code_hosting_facilities. Since Microsoft just acquired GitHub, and many people were flocking to GitLab as an alternative, I thought that the world should know about Pagure. I didn't know about it, and I'm a free software developer + MediaWiki hacker!

So, to summarize: I'm not related to the project. The article isn't advertising since it's not even "for sale". The software which is the subject of the article fits into a category that is exhaustively covered in Wikipedia, but which is currently misleading since it omits a very high-quality option. GregRundlett (talk) 19:37, 11 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

GregRundlett Greetings. As you know that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia which means the content should the summary of multiple independent reliable sources and it should be written in a "plain, factual manner". The content word choice and delivery such as using the word "you" or "your" do give an impression it is a advertising/promotional piece. In addition, the delivery should not be having the connotation to convince, influence the readers'emotions to the benefits of the products. Lastly, please use your own words to write the article as the this paragraph was copied and pasted from source "With Pagure you can host your project with its documentation, let your users report issues or request enhancements using the ticketing system and build your community of contributors by allowing them to fork your projects and contribute to it via the now-popular pull-request mechanism. Pagure uses gitolite to manage who has read/write access to which git repository via SSH" [1]
Thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 15:14, 12 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) Hi GregRundlett. I only see Draft:Pagure being declined once, by Tazerdadog, so I'm not sure where you're getting "declined repeatedly as 'advertising'". The draft is in the pool to be reviewed, so I won't preempt that by commenting on the draft specifically, but on Wikipedia the word "advertising" is used as shorthand for any kind of advertising, showcasing, advocacy, soapboxing, propagandizing, opinion, promotion, marketing, or public relations. It doesn't matter whether the subject is for-profit. You describe yourself as a "free software advocate" and call Pagure "a very high-quality option". What you do off-wiki is your business, but you're not welcome to advocate on Wikipedia. This is not the place to get the word out about anything.
The flaw in the reasoning that something should have an article because similar things have articles is the assumption that those similar things should have articles. Existence of an article doesn't mean it complies with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Large numbers of existing articles are deleted every day. The essay WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS may help you understand why your argument will not move any experienced Wikipedian.
Creating a new article is one of the most difficult, time consuming, and frustrating things one can attempt on Wikipedia. There are a million easier and more productive ways to improve the encyclopedia. See Wikipedia:Community portal for ways to help. --Worldbruce (talk) 15:26, 12 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I am not sure what sources are unreliable below. I'm being told specifically iTunes is unreliable, ok, I can delete that if that's true, but what about the New York Times, etc? I'm at loss as I've been waiting more than four months for this to be completed (I wasn't notified of the last decline until I checked myself). Thank you for your time.

Carlden10, Greetings to you. Independent and reliable sources (secondary source) are what Wikipedia after. A source might be reliable such as The New York Times, but whether the piece is independence of not would depend on the content. If the piece of article in The New York Time is a interview piece with the subject then it is not independent as the content would largely information given by the subject. Please refer to these tables regarding types of source, what constitutes independent, reliable and examples or sources. Thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 15:24, 12 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

13:49:44, 12 July 2018 review of submission by MP mccoy

I am writing about a company located in Lagos that is doing some great works in the interior design space here in Africa. I feel it is good they are on WIKI too. I have followed them up for some time now. and they are quite notable in their in their industry.

MP mccoy (talk) 13:49, 12 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

MP mccoy - Being "notable in their industry" is not how Wikipedia denotes notability (And therefor, eligibility for an article on Wikipedia). Your article needs references that are independent of the subject that discuss the subject in depth. The referencing is currently not enough. Provided it is notable, you should be able to provide these references. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 14:03, 12 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Request on 20:25:17, 12 July 2018 for assistance on AfC submission by Ljugador

Hi, I am Dr. Valente's assistant and trying to get his Wikipedia page published. He is the author, I am just the transcriber of his information, so there is no conflict of interest. Please let me know how we can get this published sooner than later. Does he need to create an account with Wikipedia and submit through his account?

Ljugador 20:25, 12 July 2018 (UTC)

Hi Ljugador. Clearly you have misunderstood what a conflict of interest is. There is no greater conflict of interest than Thomas W. Valente authoring the biography of Thomas W. Valente, see autobiography and Wikipedia:Conflicts of interest (medicine). Having an assistant (you) type it up doesn't avoid the potential problems. Nor would submitting it through his own account. Continuing to try to get this published would be foolhardy. If you persist nonetheless, then it is essential that you follow the advice that reviewers have left on the draft. --Worldbruce (talk) 22:31, 12 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

21:51:00, 12 July 2018 review of submission by Mooshhhh

It seems there is a high bar for being notable. I noticed a lot of other references in Books and articles that Wikipedia lists for my subject. Should I put more in? Can you look at my draft? Am I wasting my time or am I close? Thanks! Subject - Tamsin Astor, PhD Mooshhhh (talk) 21:51, 12 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Mooshhhh. Notability is a high bar. Anyone can have pages on Facebook and LinkedIn, but very few people are suitable subjects for an encyclopedia biography. So you may be wasting your time. Quality of references is much more important than quantity. Novice editors are often advised to cite at least three independent, reliable, secondary sources that contain significant coverage of the subject. Although the draft cites four sources, each lacks something - mostly independence and significant coverage - so you are not close. You effectively have zero of the three sources you need.
If you're hoping to demonstrate notability as an academic or an author, study WP:PROF and WP:CREATIVE. Probably the easiest route would be to demonstrate notability via reviews of her book, but that still isn't easy. When, earlier this year, editors debated whether to delete the biography of an author whose works had full length reviews in eight prominent sources, including The Times (London), The New York Review of Books, The Times Literary Supplement, The New York Times, and The Economist, editors recommended that the biography be deleted rather than kept by an almost two to one margin. --Worldbruce (talk) 23:32, 12 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

14:33:34, 13 July 2018 review of submission by MonkeyKingdom

Dear Team, I did submit this article (Draft:Richard_Jabo) for review four weeks ago and it's yet to be reviewed yet the process takes 3 weeks at max. What could be the issue? Please advise at the soonest!

MonkeyKingdom (talk) 14:33, 13 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi MonkeyKingdom. There is no upper bound on how long a review can take. We estimate based on the oldest draft in the pool (currently 5 weeks), but can't control whether volunteers continue reviewing or submitters continue submitting at the same rates. --Worldbruce (talk) 19:16, 13 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

18:06:02, 13 July 2018 review of submission by Lettucecup

Thank you for reviewing the page for Richard J. Marks. I will edit the piece today to make it more neutral. If there are any sections or phrases or areas you think should be simply removed or edited, your input would be greatly appreciated. An attempt was made to include information that is not otherwise on Wikipedia, particularly with reference to China programs that were US-China related. Those areas can certainly be shortened. Many thanks!

i need help writing this. Hawaza91 (talk) 00:51, 15 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Hawaza91. You are doing OK with the mechanics of creating a list. Wikipedia already has List of bridges in the United States and Category:Bridges in Cumberland County, Maine, so you might reach out to Wikipedia:WikiProject Bridges and Tunnels or the less active Wikipedia:WikiProject Maine to see if Draft:List of bridges in Portland, Maine is really needed, or if there are better ways for you to help improve the encyclopedia. --Worldbruce (talk) 01:25, 15 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Raunac hunter (talk) 03:52, 15 July 2018 (UTC) what should i do?[reply]

Hi Raunac hunter. Draft:Raunac hunter was declined because you skipped several key steps in successful article creation and leapt straight into writing. Wikipedia:Your first article explains the importance of gathering reliable sources, making sure your topic belongs in an encyclopedia (is "notable", your topic probably isn't), and gaining experience by editing existing articles. --Worldbruce (talk) 04:24, 15 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

19:18:00, 15 July 2018 review of submission by Cu.wang

Thanks a lot for the very quick reviewing. This is my first English language trial, I spent hours and hours reading and trying. I'm afraid my research Chinese citations, and English ones too, I've gathered for the drafting of Tan Zhonglin probably couldn't be read and verified completely by the reviewer in such a short time because they're not popular articles easily visible. Would you please take some time to read the sources and verify if you really need before you make a quick rejection? Also my status of research librarian and research fellow at an Ivy League University, with many Chinese and English publications, may qualify me in writing and publishing the entry on Tan Zhonglin. Also, please compare mine with Tan entries in Chinese and Japanese to see whether mine is qualified, richer one or not. In any case, I think this entry is a good contribution. Thank you very much.

00:12:57, 16 July 2018 review of submission by Milesallen331

I understand that the subject of my submitted draft is relatively trivial in comparison to the majority of topics written about on Wikipedia daily, but I was very much hoping that with my article, I could provide a more comprehensive list of awards and nominations than the existing table on the parent article offers. What inspired me to write this draft was that I noticed that Laurie Metcalf was receiving nominations left and right from various organizations, for work on various mediums, and yet she didn't have a specific page dedicated to these awards like many or her similarly decorated peers. Of course, the existing table on the parent article is sufficient but since many articles of my draft's kind exist for other actors, I thought it would be beneficial to compile such a list. I hope to be considered.
