Dear Jim1138,
my mother tongue is not English, so I apologize for my English.
I do add something to wikipedia, when I think it is important. in this case it was not a test. it is that I thought the paper by Rubashov (later called Zalman Shazar, one of the presidents of the State of Israel) is important, because it brings Old Yiddish sources from the Hebrew responsa.
I am glad to know that someone checks what is written. THANKS! c.

Hi, the source is the article about Terry Glaze, which links to Lori Glaze.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.255.43.134 (talk) 08:57, 9 August 2018‎ (UTC)[reply]

    Jodorowsky's Dune

I removed that section due to the fact that it overshadowed the who point of the the man's work, while there is a point to this section, it overshadows what he tried to accomplish with his work.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:14c:4280:3b1b:ecc1:1171:a617:6fb (talk) 04:44, 12 August 2018‎ (UTC)[reply]

    Regarding the Lucky Ali Edit

Hey Jim, the article posted online wasn't justified. Hence I tried to remove it.

Removed dead links that were connected to no actual pages or other lists. Such clutter should be removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.112.81.173 (talk) 07:01, 16 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    "Allahabad" page edit

@Suyash.dy: Please read the message I left and read the links. That will tell you why I undid your edit and provides instructions on how to add your change. Jim1138 (talk) 09:41, 16 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jim, thanks for your message, I'm the source for the post about Nexus 5X, so, do I need to create a webpage first and I can't write directly as myself is the source? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 42.98.58.157 (talk) 12:03, 16 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    Re: Charles Dutoit

Hello Jim1138: I have been trying to do some editing on Charles Dutoit's Wikipedia page but my edits keep being reverted by 2 editors. I am providing references (one of my edit is a new job with the St Petersburg Philharmonic) which belongs in the biography as it is actual news. Mr Dutoit has been accused of sexual misconduct in the press and I am trying to provide truthful and referenced information regarding this. I have tried to add that none of these allegations have been proven in a court of law but am being told by one editor is it irrelevant. In my opinion, it is not irrelevant to clarify this as it is reported in such a way in the press and it is important to remember this fact. I believe Wikipedia readers need to have a concise and clear view of the situation. I also plan on working on the numerous paragraphs on these allegations as it is too long, according to Wikipedia, and some of the information is repetitive and redundant. I will also provide references to the honours and prizes as it is requested. What do you think and how do you suggest I proceed? Thank you for your assistance, Gabala (talk) 13:21, 16 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    Fred Toettcher

Hi, Jim. Thanks for your message.

As far as the comment about Fred's bike, it was sourced to Fred's own Instagram page. [1]

Regarding the info about his kids, I listen to him for an hour plus a day. I struggled with adding it without an actual "source" but considering how often he mentions it on air, I felt it was okay.

    Clapag22 (talk) 00:32, 17 October 2018 (UTC)Clapag22[reply]

@Clapag22: A lot of that would appear to fall under wp:primary. I think the bike is OK given that it doesn't appear self-serving. Listing children needs to be carefully sourced per WP:BLP Not sure what to recommend, anyone else listen to him that posts as a wp:reliable source? @Clapag22: You are welcome! Thank you for engaging in discussion. Unfortunately, being nice is a lot more work than mashing the "vandalism" button on wp:Huggle. I do WP:RCP... My edits are not disruptive. They are restoring vandalism by Binksternet and Static N. These users removed the whole section on Latin America without good reason even though it was reliably sourced, and cut out everything about the subculture's decline. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.9.224.228 (talk) 01:06, 17 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

What’s the problem with the edit I made to this article? The article is supposed to discuss solitary confinement of women. The content I removed was unrelated to the article’s premise. —107.77.234.139 (talk) 01:42, 17 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You removed the section discussing transgender women. Discuss its removal on talk:solitary confinement of women per wp:BRD Jim1138 (talk) 01:44, 17 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Solitary confinement of women, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Depression (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver).

Editing Rich the Kid's Wikipedia page.

I made the changes to Rich the Kid's wikipedia page as I had tried to before, but this time I did it with citations. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Xxxtentacionskimasktheslumpgod (talkcontribs) 01:13, 18 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page watcher) Xxxtentacionskimasktheslumpgod - Are these references from reliable sources? They seem to be alleging things and one appears to be only a primary source. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 01:16, 18 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, they are from reliable sources. The things that happened that I was updating on Wikipedia on Rich The Kid's page were all well known facts and there is even videos of people recording when the events on the sources when they happened. I suggest you visit the sites I used as sources and watch these videos. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Xxxtentacionskimasktheslumpgod (talkcontribs) 11:34, 18 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Jim1138, what are your thoughts regarding the references used? I'm personally not fully convinced that they're reliable and hence in compliance with what's required to add content like this to a BLP. I've removed the content pending discussion; feel free to restore it if you disagree, Jim1138... ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 12:16, 18 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Oshwah:, not too reliable and seems somewhat like a conclusion made from the videos. OR? A stunt by the subject? I'd like to see a real RS post a story before this is posted. Off to bed for me 05:20 in the morning. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 12:19, 18 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    I agree. Goodnight, Jim1138! We'll speak again soon! :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 12:22, 18 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The things that happened were very well known facts that I updated and if you are willing to remove what I updated, you may as well remove the whole entry I helped update. Would it be okay if you don't remove it this time, or if you feel like you need to because you think none of what I wrote down happened, remove the entire section on the Wikipedia page I helped update. Also, Complex was one of the sites that had different articles already used in the section before I helped update it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Xxxtentacionskimasktheslumpgod (talkcontribs) 13:21, 18 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Xxxtentacionskimasktheslumpgod - The reason that the edit was removed had nothing personally to do with you as an editor. It was removed because both Jimm1138 and I question whether or not the sources you cited meet Wikipedia's guideline here to be considered reliable. Because this article is biography of a living person, content that's contentious or potentially negative in nature must be supported by sources that meet Wikipedia's guideline and are considered reliable. I left you a notice on your user talk page regarding edit warring; please take note of this, as edit warring is not allowed. Your recent revert to the article adding back the content you wrote was also removed by another editor who also questions the content and if it even belongs in the article in the first place. Instead of reverting the article again, please start a discussion on the article's talk page here. Continuing to revert the article in a back-and-fourth fashion as you've been doing will result in being blocked from editing, especially now that you've been notified and warned on your user talk page about edit warring and 3RR. Please know that I'm trying to help you by explaining the relevant policies and guidelines so that you'll learn and become more experienced with Wikipedia; I obviously don't want to see you get blocked over content like this. I hope that you're here to edit many articles, subjects, and topics, and that you want to learn and gain more experience here. Please let myself or Jim1138 know here if you have any questions and one of us will be happy to answer them. Thank you for understanding and for doing your part to avoid causing disruption to the article :-). Best regards - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 13:32, 18 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I am informing you that I am wondering why you editors keep removing the facts that I keep updating and you say it is because "the sources I am using are not reliable" - there are other things in the same section (Feud with Lil Uzi Vert) that also came from the same website I used, which was Complex. I am wondering why if the sources I used were not reliable, why the other ones from Complex were allowed to be in the article. I feel if you have to remove what I updated, you might as well remove the entire entry on Rich the Kid's Wikipedia page called "Feud with Lil Uzi Vert". I don't mean to sound mean, but I feel like I am not allowed to update anything on Wikipedia when everyone else is. By this I mean what everyone else has already contributed to the section "Feud with Lil Uzi Vert" on Rich The Kid's Wikipedia page was allowed and my content was not - - some of their sources came from the same website as my sources. The resources used from Complex on Rich The Kid's Wikipedia page (not by me, by previous editors) include https://www.complex.com/music/2018/04/rich-the-kid-has-more-to-say-about-lil-uzi-vert and https://www.complex.com/music/2018/03/rich-the-kid-doesnt-think-lil-uzi-vert-will-respond-to-dead-friends and the events I described were the most important parts of what happened between Lil Uzi Vert and Rich The Kid and if you do not think that is necessary to include in an encyclopedia, then you may as well delete the whole section "Feud with Lil Uzi Vert" on Rich the Kid's Wikipedia page. Because like I said, what I was trying to add to the article was the most important part of the feud by far, far more important than https://www.complex.com/music/2018/04/rich-the-kid-has-more-to-say-about-lil-uzi-vert and https://www.complex.com/music/2018/03/rich-the-kid-doesnt-think-lil-uzi-vert-will-respond-to-dead-friends — Preceding unsigned comment added by Xxxtentacionskimasktheslumpgod (talk • contribs) 17:58, 18 October 2018 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Xxxtentacionskimasktheslumpgod (talkcontribs)

My edit on Awdal and other Somaliland articles

@Jim1138:Hi JIm i want to know why i was blocked for editing Awdal and other Somaliland pages? All the pages I edited replaced "Somaliland" with Somalia since they are all de facto Somaliland places and controlled and governed by Somaliland NOT Somalia. Plus people that are reverted in back are doing the exact same think which is reverting my edits and the Mustafa0 guy left threats on my talk after threating to undo all my edits which i believe arent his posts. If anything this should considered as edit war and admins should make the right edits and protect the pages instead of blocking me and others that don't agree. Thanks (Samirstown (talk) 07:42, 20 October 2018 (UTC)).[reply]

@Samirstown: I didn't block you, only admins can do that and I am not an admin. I undid your edit as you removed sourced content without sufficient reason. You need to discuss that on talk:Awdal. See wp:BRD Your edit summary accused me of "spreading hate against the Republic of Somaliland". That is a wp:personal attack. Many people get blocked for making such attacks. I believe that was mentioned on your talk page denying your unblock request. I think you will find most registered editors on Wikipedia have little interest in adding unsourced bad publicity about Somaliland. It's a good way to get oneself blocked. Jim1138 (talk) 07:54, 20 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    @Samirstown: Also, you should read the wp:welcome page, wp:BOLD, revert, discuss cycle, wp:five pillars. I think most pertinent: wp:civility Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 08:07, 20 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

When you reverted me on List of Japanese films of 2010 with this edit your edit summary was "It was produced by Dentsu which is a Japanese company". But, you added "Canada". WTF? Most of your edits were done without an wp:edit summary and you did not add nor mention a source. BTW: IMDB is wp:selfpublished and is not the best source. Jim1138 (talk) 08:36, 20 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I corrected that to saying "It was produced by Scott Pilgrim productions which was set up to produce this film which is a Canadian company" 81.106.30.36 (talk) 08:51, 20 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    Bengali population is increasing

The Bengali population you updated is completely absurd. You haven't considered a major part of the population. I myself a Bengali and I have been involved in these researches over time. Let me give you the exact estimate : INDIA : West Bengal : 86 million Assam : 11.5 million Jharkand : 9.9 million Tripura : 2.5 million Rest of India : 20-25 million ( considering illegal Bangladeshis ) BANGLADESH has an actual population of 200 million and about 10 million Bangladeshis are staying abroad. Furthermore the Rohingyas are Bengali too. They speak the Chittagong dialect of Bangladesh. Pakistan has a registered Bengali population of approx 3 million All this estimates total round off to ~ 350 million Bengali people worldwide. This estimates are very well mentioned in Joshua as well as few other groups. Thank you Please do consider Subhajit db97 (talk) 09:09, 21 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Jim1138, The editing that I did to the rolfing page was to remove the outright slanderous information there. It is clear that the content was added by those that have no firsthand knowledge of the subject, so the negative and baseless information should be considered vandalism.

First of all, rolfing is not fringe or alternative medicine. It is not a system that is designed to treat or diagnose illness. Anyone who has read Dr. Rolf's book can see this clearly. To call it fringe or conspiracy medicine is vandalism.

Second, "the principals of rolfing contradict medical knowledge" is outright false. Which principal is in question? The fact that human beings have to relate to gravity? The fact that structure affects function? Such a general and baseless statement is vandalism.

Last, editing a page so that it contains only negative and useless information (such as "there is no good evidence Rolfing is an effective treatment for any health condition") is vandalism. Rolfing is not design to treat any kind of health condition. And the fact that this eluded the Australian Government is but a testament to their poorly planed study.

"It is considered a pseudoscience." What aspect of rolfing is considered pseudoscience? This comment is an insult to the intelligent, and is VANDALISM.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.127.24.86 (talk) 12:32, 22 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    October 2018

    Hi Jim,

I just created a Wikipedia account in the hopes of creating my own person (albeit small) Wikipedia page. I decided to just jump in a see if I could make one. I found this page: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:How_to_create_a_page and as I understand it, I needed to surround a new page name in double square brackets like this to find a red link which I can use to create a new page. I couldn’t find the red link but since I got your attention I must have done something. As far as adding a citation to the content I didn’t add one because I didn’t have one other than myself. Also note there were no other citations provided to any of the other names on that page. However I would like to know if you have any information on how I can create my own Wikipedia page. Thanks Jim CharieChan (talk) 12:38, 26 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    Dear Jim1138

Can you help me to protect this place, Muangthong United because it has been attack by non-member user for 2 day and they change every infomation with rumour news and unsource news. This make the info changing to unreference source. I warn them twice but no action.

PS I confuse with request protection, you can help me to request protection to it? Thank You Ministerboy (talk) 23:13, 26 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Ministerboy: The anon is changing team names and number. Unfortunately, that section does not have a citation. Is this the team roster? http://www.mtutd.info/muangthong-united-academy - under Team|Academy / First view? If so, please wp:cite that source. See help:referencing for beginners (try the wp:RefToolbar/2.0) Or, if that is the source, add this at the end of "non-FIFA nationality." after the period / full-stop ("."):
    • <ref>{{cite web |url= http://www.mtutd.info/muangthong-united-academy |title= SCG Muangthong United 2018 (click on Team{{!}}Academy / First team for roster) |work= SCG Muangthong United |accessdate= 26 October 2018}}</ref>

Note: that {{!}} makes a "|". Adding a "|" instead will break things. Also, leave off the nowiki stuff. You can request page protection at wp:RfPP. citation: no date

Hello Jim, thank you for your message the other day. I'm working on an article about International Albinism Awareness Day. I was asked to revise two sources because I had cited them with "no date". Unfortunately, I'm not able to find out when the cited information was posted on the respective website. From my days in academia, I'm used to solve the issue with referring to "no date". Does it work another way on wikipedia? Snoopanda (talk) 12:04, 28 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Snoopanda: A date is preferred, but not necessary. Often simple URLs are added as citations (no date, no title, no author, etc.) which is definitely not the preferred format! You are doing a good job! I see an admin changed your dating from "no date" to "n.d.". So it appears that another thinks it is OK! May I suggest wp:RefToolbar/2.0 for citations. Jim Mercurio Career section

Hi. I attempted to make changes to Jed Mercurio's career section, with the aim of removing the point of view warning and returning the page to neutral. This was also mentioned on his talk page. You changed it after I forgot to leave a message explaining my changes, but then I attempted it again and explained the reasons (as above). However despite this, the page has once again been reverted to before my changes, with no explanation. Can you please help with this?

@Milliyay: Who requested you edit the article? There is no point of view warning on the article. What do you mean by that? Are you referring to the "close connection" hat tag? I would suggest you read wp:neutral point of view as I don't think it means what you think it means. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 10:59, 31 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    Rosacea edit

    Hi, I'm new to this.

I was unable to leave a comment explaining why I removed the photo from the Rosacea page.

The photo is of the condition known as rhinophyma, which is a reasonably rare and uncommon side effect of rosacea. However, rosacea is not the only cause of rosacea. Further, the photo does not demonstrate any of the most common symptoms of rosacea, notably red inflamed skin. The character in the photo does not have any of the most common symptoms of rosacea, nor does he have red skin.

It's a very poorly chosen photo for a Wiki page which likely has a lot of traffic, seeing as how common of a skin condition it is. Rhinophyma is not something that should be automatically associated with rosacea. For people trying to learn about the condition, it's a very poor choice and misleading choice of main picture

The photo has been up for a long time, and I find it completely inappropriate. It has very very little relevancy to the topic at hand, and does no justice in illustrating what rosacea is.

In the discussion/talk page for Rosacea, many people have called for a change of image. I can't provide a photo that is reliably permissible at the moment, but the existing photo very much ought to be removed. I hope you understand the point I'm trying to make. Let me know what can be done. Justiceforroseacea (talk) 04:58, 2 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Justiceforroseacea: Your wp:edit summary was not clear and did not seem like an appropriate removal. If you can not fit what you want to say in the ES, first add a note on the talk page: talk:Rosacea (see help:talk pages), then do your edit with an ES of "See talk page". A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Examination of Apollo Moon photographs is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Examination of Apollo Moon photographs (2nd nomination) until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

The citation is an opinion, not a ruling. The phrase has never been formally litigated and ruled on, therefore, again, what you're using is from an opinion. This is why I deleted it in the first place and will do so again. No citation was needed on my part as it was a deletion due to your lack of a backing source of ruling. ----

Calorie definition, avoiding unnecessary confusing explanations

Hello Jim1138, I modified the page because What I want to give to the people is the clearest way to understand things. I think should be avoided to encourage the usage of confusing terms, and that's why Wikipedia also exists. If exists a confusing term and people recognize it it's important to say it exists, and say why it's confusing, encouraging people to use the clearest one. In particular in the version previews my modification, in the term definition it's written

"A calorie or calory (archaic) is a unit of energy. Various definitions exist but fall into two broad categories. The first, the small calorie, or gram calorie (symbol: cal), is defined as the amount of heat energy needed to raise the temperature of one gram of water by one degree Celsius at a pressure of one atmosphere.[1] The second, the large calorie or kilogram calorie (symbols: Cal, kcal), also known as the food calorie and similar names,[2] is defined as the heat energy required to raise the temperature of one kilogram (rather than a gram) of water by one degree Celsius. It is equal to 1,000 small calories.[1]"

Saying "small calorie" for a unit system is like saying "small meter" and "large meter". As for the meter, doesn't make sense to say (I'm using capital letter) 1Meter = 1Kmeter = 1Km = 1000m = 1000meter. It's important in my opinion to say it exist and to underline the confusion and inefficacy this term generates.

Giving motivation about the existence of 1"large meter" defining it as 1000meters because basically that's what you obtain moltiplying the small for 1000 it's confusing and avoidable and could generate useless other definition. With the same criteria we could say that The Third, the upper large calorie or Ton calorie (symbols: KCal, Mcal), also known as the food chilocalorie and similar names,[2] is defined as the heat energy required to raise the temperature of one ton (rather than a gram) of water by one degree Celsius. It is equal to 1,000,000 small calories.[1]"

And we could go on with the fourth, fifth, etcetera calorie or Cal or cal. In my version: A calorie or calory (archaic) is a unit of energy. Is defined as the amount of heat energy needed to raise the temperature of one gram of water by one degree Celsius at a pressure of one atmosphere. And 1Kcal = 1000cal. Similar to how 1Km = 1000m (meters). So it's confusing and incorrect to say "cal" or "Cal" to refer to "Kcal" because there's a difference of 1000 times. Similar to how 1 Meter = 1000 m. Anyway a part of the population confusingly uses "large calorie" or "Cal" with capital letter (furthermore this difference is undetectable in the speaking language), to refer to "Kcal"; so 1 large calorie = 1Cal = 1Kcal = 1000cal.

Although these units relate to the metric system, all of them have been considered obsolete in science since the adoption of the SI system.[1] The unit of energy in the International System of Units is the joule. One calorie is approximately 4.2 joules (so one large calorie is about 4.2 kilojoules). The factor used to convert calories to joules at a given temperature is numerically equivalent to the specific heat capacity of water expressed in joules per kelvin per gram (or per kilogram, for kilocalories). The precise conversion factor depends on the definition adopted.

Dear Jim1138, my mother tongue is not English, so I apologize for my English. THANKS! c.
