Damon Runyon's short story "Dancing Dan's Christmas" is a fun read if you have the time. Right from the start it extols the virtues of the hot Tom and Jerry

This hot Tom and Jerry is an old-time drink that is once used by one and all in this country to celebrate Christmas with, and in fact it is once so popular that many people think Christmas is invented only to furnish an excuse for hot Tom and Jerry, although of course this is by no means true.

Thanks for reading and replying! The point isn't the correctness of the pronunciation (I can link a source to prove it), but the presence of the Italian pronunciation in the article. There're thousands of articles containing words referring to things of foreign origin where it's indicated the original pronunciation ("pasta" for Italian, "champagne" for French, "tortilla" for Spanish, etc...). Do you sincerely think that they're of no value to the related Wikipedia articles? By the way, my IP (a dynamic IP, so the IP you'll see in the future will be different from the current) is from Northern Italy, it's correct, and that's why I know so many things about the pronunciation of that name in Italian, but I don't think I've understood why you wanted to point that out. 151.64.171.8 (talk) 12:12, 21 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Err... Okay, so in your opinion the pronunciation of "pasta" in Italian wouldn't have as much importance to those who don't live in Italy (same for "champagne" out of France and for "tortilla" out of Spain)? English Wikipedia is full of articls about American VIPs of foreign origin whose name and/or surname are indicated also in the original language: do you think that all these pronunciation should be removed because they have no importance to American English speakers? Well, I won't try to make you change your mind, but if "in no case the original pronunciation of foreign words and names should be indicated" is what you think for real, know that this thought of yours openly conflicts with one of the most important and common habit of Wikipedia itself. If you're really convinced of that, you should open a discussion in the linguistic project and ask to remove all linguistic templates from Wikipedia for the reason you told me. Thanks for the invitation. I edit Wikipedia just every now and then, mostly to fix minor errors when I notice them, I don't think that registering would be of any utility.
