== OpIndia ==

Hey Muboshgu,

I see you have put [[OpIndia]] under semi-protected status so I'm assuming you must be aware to an extent of the controversial nature of the article. I recently reverted an edit made by an editor. The editor was in an ongoing discussion with another on the talk page concerning the content. They reverted it back and then I reverted it back, asking them to arrive at a consensus on the talk page first. In hindsight, perhaps I should have stated my concern on the first revert. They reverted it back calling my revert to be vandalism. So, I pinged them on the talk page asking why they are editing while they clearly haven't come to an agreement there and their response to just call me a troll, reassert their viewpoint and accused me of having an agenda. So, I responded by elaborating on my viewpoint on how they are breaking [[WP:NPOV]] with their edit, and raised the guidelines they're breaking. I tried my best but I'm a pretty new editor and I do not know what else to do against this kind of antagonism and uncooperative behavior. So I'm asking whether you could take a look at it.

Next year's competition begins on 1 January. You are invited to sign up to participate; it is open to all Wikipedians, new and old. The WikiCup judges will be back in touch over the coming months, and we hope to see you all in the 2019 competition. Until then, it only remains to once again congratulate our worthy winners, and thank all participants for their involvement! WikiCup 2019 March newsletter

And so ends the first round of the competition. Everyone with a positive score moves on to Round 2. With 56 contestants qualifying, each group in Round 2 contains seven contestants, with the two leaders from each group due to qualify for Round 3 as well as the top sixteen remaining contestants.

Our top scorers in Round 1 were:

  • United States L293D, a WikiCup newcomer, led the field with ten good articles on submarines for a total of 357 points.
  • Adam Cuerden, a WikiCup veteran, came next with 274 points, mostly from eight featured pictures, restorations of artwork.
  • Denmark MPJ-DK, a wrestling enthusiast, was in third place with 263 points, garnered from a featured list, five good articles, two DYKs and four GARs.
  • United States Usernameunique came next at 243, with a featured article and a good article, both on ancient helmets.
  • Squeamish Ossifrage was in joint fifth place with 224 points, mostly garnered from bringing the 1937 Fox vault fire to featured article status.
  • Ohio Ed! was also on 224, with an amazing number of good article reviews (56 actually).

These contestants, like all the others, now have to start scoring points again from scratch. Between them, contestants completed reviews on 143 good articles, one hundred more than the number of good articles they claimed for, thus making a substantial dent in the review backlog. Well done all!

Remember that any content promoted after the end of Round 1 but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews.

If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! The following improvements need to be made to the page for Vicente Gonzalez (politician)

Information needs to be updated. The current information holds sources that support this update. All other updates can be sourced through resources from Vicente Gonzalez's congressional website: https://gonzalez.house.gov/

If I am not "allowed" to make these changes on a website that promotes the ability to do so, then please direct me to whoever can make these changes. If not, I will continue to push for these changes (which are verifiable), until the changes are made.

Requested changes below:

Early life, education, and early career

Gonzalez was born in Corpus Christi, Texas in 1967[2] to [Olga Cantu] and [Vicente Gonzalez], a Korean War veteran and U.S. Merchant Marine. Gonzalez attended Roman Catholic School in Corpus Christi for part of his primary education, but eventually dropped out of high school during his junior year. He went onto obtain a G.E.D. and returned to school by enrolling at Del Mar Junior College where he received an Associate’s Degree in Banking and Finance.[3][4]

In 1992, Gonzalez received his Bachelor of Science degree in aviation business administration from the Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University on the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station. After high school, and throughout college, Gonzalez traveled to almost 100 countries around the world.

In 1996, Gonzalez obtained his Juris Doctor from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law (now Texas A&M University School of Law) in Fort Worth, Texas. While a law student, he interned for then Congressman Solomon P. Ortiz (D-TX-27). He trained in Negotiation at Harvard Law School [in Cambridge, Massachusetts]. In 1997, he founded the law firm, V. Gonzalez & Associates, in McAllen, Texas. He is a member of the Bar Associations of Texas and New York.[5]

As an attorney, Gonzalez successfully recovered millions in proceeds for businesses, homeowners and public schools throughout the country. His professional successes prompted an invitation to join the prestigious Million Dollar & Multi-million Dollar Advocates Forum, a membership reserved for less than one percent of American attorneys.

Gonzalez's wife, Lorena Saenz Gonzalez, is a former educator and school administrator from McAllen, Texas.

Peter Handke edit

I did not engage in edit warring. I reverted his revert of my good-faith and objective addition only once, then requested page protection. I would like my addition to be restored and the editor to be prevented from changing it, as there is nothing inaccurate or malicious within my addition; in fact, it simply serves as further information on Hendke's page. Everything was properly cited and formated, to boot. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gbabuch (talkcontribs) 23:11, 16 October 2109 (UTC)[reply]

@Gbabuch: The citations and formatting are not the issue here. The issue is neutrality. WP:CONTROVERSYSECTIONS violate neutrality by producing an undue emphasis on negative material. Also, that material has been relocated throughout the article, so that you are addiction of a controversy section is stating the controversial information twice. The other editors have mentioned this in their edit summaries. Therefore, your edit will not be reinserted. Any attempts on your part 2 reinsert it constitute edit warring, and may result in a block. – Muboshgu (talk) 23:18, 16 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
WP:CONTROVERSYSECTION is an essay. Whether something adheres to NPOV is a content dispute, which should be resolved through a discussion. You cannot give mandates like "Therefore, your edit will not be reinserted".
Why not just tell everybody to go to the article talk page or WP:BLPN? There is a discussion at BLPN: Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons/Noticeboard#Peter Handke. One editor said "I don't think it's unreasonable that the controversies take up almost half Peter Handke". This was on 10 October, when there was a separate controversy section. Justin Verlander

Hi, Mubosghu. I hope you have been doing well. I know it probably isn't fair to make this request of a Yankees fan, but there has been some vandalism at Justin Verlander over the past few days and I see that from the page history that you protected that article for a week back in January. It looks like another period of protection might be necessary. Lepricavark (talk) 00:38, 15 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Lepricavark, even though in real life I'm mad as hell at him (and Bregman, whose article I protected earlier today), I'll take a look and protect if needed. – Muboshgu (talk) 02:20, 15 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. As a diehard Detroit Tigers fan, I'm very disappointed in JV. My actual anger is reserved more for people like Jim Crane and Rob Manfred; then again, everything Manfred does angers me. Lepricavark (talk) 02:22, 15 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Lepricavark, great point. Rob Manfred is literally a tool of the owners (he works for them), and he's clearly acting in their best interests. Beltran and the other players are to blame, but the front offices deserve more punishment. I also protected World Series just now, and List of World Series champions earlier today. Spring training starting (and every player getting asked about the cheating) must be leading to this increase. Enjoy having Maybin back. He was a fun addition last year. – Muboshgu (talk) 02:26, 15 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I'm glad to have Maybin back in the fold. He brought some life to the team during his last stint, and that's something we desperately need right now. Lepricavark (talk) 02:28, 15 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Lepricavark, wait a minute... The Astros acquired Maybin in 2017....... – Muboshgu (talk) 04:06, 15 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm... I had completely forgotten about that. Lepricavark (talk) 04:08, 15 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Lepricavark, maybe Maybin and I are okay. Maybe.[1] – Muboshgu (talk) 02:26, 18 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It's certainly better than what most of them have said. Lepricavark (talk) 03:08, 18 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Lepricavark, it's hard to fake remorse when you don't have any. – Muboshgu (talk) 04:44, 18 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Jaan Nissar Lone

Dear admin User:Muboshgu, this is user:Fridaykingshere to ask you that I have created an article with the nameNisarul Bashir Lone which is the actual name of the popular celebrity Musician & singer Jaan Nissar Lone After creating it I just saw that you have protected Jaan Nissar Lone from creating as so many wiki users have re-created it again and again. Dear Admin Is there anyway out where in I can make Jaan Nissar Lones article redirect to Nisarul Bashir Lone looking forward for help.Fridaykings (talk) 17:30, 16 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Yunshui, GSS, Bbb23, Fastily, and RHaworth: as the deleting admins of Draft:Jaan_Nissar_Lone, is this a continuation of CSD G5? – Muboshgu (talk) 23:02, 16 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the ping. I've blocked Fridaykings as a sock and deleted his creations. I've also salted the "renamed" article.--Bbb23 (talk) 00:25, 17 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Bbb23, that's what I thought should happen, but wanted to be sure. – Muboshgu (talk) 00:27, 17 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Larry Walker bio corrections

I am saying things are not accurate because I am Larry Walker. And nobody knows the accuracy of my bio better then me. Things that were in there were just not accurate/not true/or are no longer true. Not sure who the "reliable" source is that you say gave you the info, but he/she is was just not correct on some of them. I am going to look through the info more and see if I can find anymore inaccuracies. I will correct them too if I find any. but when I looked last week everything seemed okay. thanks Golfshirts (talk) 20:21, 18 February 2020 (UTC)LWGolfshirts (talk) 20:21, 18 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Golfshirts, if you are indeed Larry Walker, then congratulations on your well deserved election to Cooperstown. Of course, I can't be sure that you really are who you say you are. Either way, I do care about the page being accurate. Wikipedia has a policy of "verifiability, not truth", because we cannot always know the truth, and have to work with the best info we get. Reliable sources usually accomplish that. If there's anything you think is inaccurate, we can try to fix it. If something is "no longer true", it might still belong there. Like for instance if you were married but got divorced, we don't delete the info on the marriage. Hope that helps explain it somewhat. There's more links I could share with you. – Muboshgu (talk) 21:16, 18 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Careful with that Rollback!

Muboshgu, you undid three days worth of edits at WP:GAN with this edit, tagged with Rollback. Fortunately, the bot runs every 20 minutes, and rebuilt the page with the correct information. It's not a page where any non-bot edits should be done as a general rule, and this is the second time you've done a Rollback on the page this year, so please try to figure out what's going wrong so you can avoid doing it a third time. Many thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 05:32, 19 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

BlueMoonset, shit I'm sorry. I had no idea that happened. It's some touchscreen misclicks. I'll be more careful, figure out other processes. – Muboshgu (talk) 05:36, 19 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Working on a story about fact-checking / misinformation... would love to chat

Heya—I'm an editor at Fast Company looking at Wikipedia's role in the info ecosystem especially around the 2020 presidential election, and noticed your vigilant editing on some related pages. If you have a few minutes, I'd love to send you a few questions by email. If you're interested or even skeptical, if you have a moment, please reach me at apasternack at gmail dot com, and I'll explain further! Thanks so much Johnshade2 (talk) 17:14, 21 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Talk:Tom Steyer

Thank you for your quick reaction there! That editor has been here for four years with no blocks so I wonder what's going on there.

If you could, would you mind looking at a reply I left on a stale-ish section on that same page? I have no idea if my suggestion is in accordance with policy but I suspect you would know. Please see this and thanks again. 2600:1700:B7A1:9A30:7CB9:BDAB:30E9:A90E (talk) 03:45, 22 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Jaron Long has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No RS to support its notability. Fails to comply with GNG.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. WikiAviator (talk) 06:56, 22 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No worries. I don’t wanna cause a issue but I don’t want bad info for people either. There are a few other minor things that are incorrect but nothing that would make people question them. Just my “personal” section had too many mistakes so I felt I wanted to eliminate them. I’ve never looked at my page before or would’ve corrected them earlier. And thank you for The Hall congrats. Life changed a little after that call!! Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Golfshirts (talkcontribs) 15:55, 22 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I see guess I can’t delete most of personal section? I see it’s back now. Just saw one mistake I didn’t see before, I bowled with a guy named Tim Simmons, not Ted. Lol — Preceding unsigned comment added by Golfshirts (talkcontribs) 16:00, 22 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Golfshirts, I'll look at the bowling thing. Whatever other errors there are, please let me know. If you can find the references that can be used to make changes, that's even better. I guess you can bowl with Ted Simmons in Cooperstown in July if you two want. Tell DJ I said hi, and I'm the editor who got his article to featured status. – Muboshgu (talk) 18:16, 22 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Subartu again

Hello. You told me to tell you if things go bad. The user is back, with a new revert other than the one that existed when my protection request was declined. The user has been pushing this edit since October 2019, and blocking dont work; everytime a new IP. He will keep coming back and short protection periods wont work.--Attar-Aram syria (talk) 02:56, 23 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
