Doraemon the Movie: Nobita's New Dinosaur (映画ドラえもん のび太の新恐竜, Eiga Doraemon: Nobita no Shin Kyōryū) is a Japanese anime film. The screenplay is written by Genki Kawamura - the producer of Your Name, The Boy and the Beast and Weathering with You. This is the first Reiwa-era Doraemon movie. The film celebrates 50 years of the Doraemon franchise.[1]
It was originally scheduled to release in Japan on 6 March 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Japan, the film was Postponed to 7 August 2020.[2]
Story
Nobita accidentally found a fossil dinosaur egg mixed with rocks in the dinosaur fossil exhibition site that he had visited before. He returned it to its original state with the “Time blanket”. After hatching, the egg hatches a new species of dinosaur that is not named in the Cosmic Encyclopedia and names them Kyū and Myū. Although they want to take care of them secretly, there are dinosaurs in the city still discovered by residents; Nobita and his friends were forced to bring them back to the Cretaceous period 66 million years ago the dinosaurs time. Just the time of Dinosaurs Extinction.[3]

It was originally scheduled to release in Japan on 6 March 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Japan, the film was delayed to 7 August 2020.[4][5]
Box office
Debuting on 377 screens with limitations on seating capacity due to Covid-19 pandemic, Doraemon the Movie: Nobita's New Dinosaur earned $3.9 million on 334,000 admissions in its first weekend and ranked number-one on Japanese box office.[6]
