Propose renaming Category:Pikes to Category:Turnpikes

Nominator's rationale: Rename. Pike is ambiguous. Another option would be to delete since this is a grouping by roads that include 'pike'. The other option would be to upmerge to Category:Toll roads in the United States. Vegaswikian (talk) 18:05, 15 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Delete~~Upmerge~~/Rename if Kept We already have Category:Pre-freeway turnpikes in the United States and, as was mentioned, Category:Toll roads in the United States. I can't see this category grouping anything beyond those two, except for WP:SHAREDNAME. (If kept, then I support the rename per nom.)RevelationDirect (talk) 19:23, 15 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

- Good point above; these were not all actually turnpikes. For a time in the 1920s and 1930s, Pike or Turnpike was a popular suffix for new highways that weren't necessarily old turnpikes (e.g. Boston-Providence Turnpike). --NE2 07:04, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Rename to Category:Wikipedia articles published in peer-reviewed literature and change to a hidden category. Not sure if this category will really expand, but I'm sure there is much administrative use for the category if it does. SFB 18:34, 16 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Rename per SFB. It will be unusual for a WP article to carry such weight. I do occasionally see WP articles cited in academic literature, but becasue they are not peer-reviewed in the normal sense and at risk of having WP:OR added, this is unusual. Rename The current name suggests this contains entries in Wikipedia on specific articles. While there may be some articles published in Professional Journals that have been so impactful that they are notable enough to be included in wikipedia, I know of none off the top of my head that have an article. For example, to pick an article that has been given a best article award by a professional association, we could have an article on 'Saviors on Mount Zion": Mormon Sacramentalism, Mortality, and the Baptism for the Dead. I doubt we would. Even most books don't get articles in wikipedia, but that is where I thought this category was heading. I would however for that type of entry in wikipedia have the category be named Category:Articles in academic journals or something along those lines.John Pack Lambert (talk) 07:06, 1 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose again, as this is a useful sub-cat of Category:Albums by Nigerian artists by genre. The nominator had moved this down the hierarchy into Pop albums, but I dispute that categorisation as a sub-genre of pop - the article Highlife does not support this. Note: this is a repeat nomination, see Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2014_September_9#Category:Highlife_albums_by_Nigerian_artists, which was closed with no consensus.
