Battle of Long island
Hi Magicpiano,
I've had a look over at your article concerning the order of battle at the Battle of Long Island. I took the liberty of changing the phrase "decisive" to "significant", which made me wonder whether or not the battle was actually decisive or not; it is not listed as such on the page (which is why I made the change), despite it seeming to be a significant victory over the Patriot forces during the New York and New Jersey campaign. Since you seem to have a great deal of sources from this period, do you know whether or not this battle was actually decisive or not based on any sources you may have concerning the battle? Much regards Snagemit (talk) 10:06, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
- As far as I can tell, the use of "decisive" and other such adjectives has been deprecated for use in military infoboxes. When I worked the battle and "order of" articles, it was not. If it really matters to you (I personally don't care much one way or the other, the whole business is one long indecisive edit war), I'm sure there are sources that say as much, but you'll have to find them -- my libraries are all closed. Michigan Delistings
Hi! The NRHP delisted four properties in the latest weekly list in Michigan. I think I updated everything correctly for MI, on the county and state pages, and on the date template. However, I don't usually do this, so I just want to make sure I didn't miss something. Andrew Jameson (talk) 12:57, 13 June 2020 (UTC)
- Looks good, except for getting the date wrong in Template:NRHP date for lists/dates. Thanks for helping! Magic♪piano 16:26, 13 June 2020 (UTC)
TFL notification
Hi, Magicpiano. I'm just posting to let you know that Order of battle of the Battle of Trenton – a list that you have been heavily involved with – has been chosen to appear on the Main Page as Today's featured list for August 3. The TFL blurb can be seen here. If you have any thoughts on the selection, please post them on my talk page or at TFL talk. Regards, Giants2008 (Talk) 02:19, 15 July 2020 (UTC)
Burro Flats Boundary Decrease
Hey, you made this edit to the Burro Flats Painted Cave article stating that there was a boundary decrease but the NRHP reference number that you included does not lead to an existing NRHP page detailing the change. Could you update it with another source where the decrease was referenced? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:647:5E80:6B20:28B2:ADCC:1077:2EDF (talk) 20:19, 28 July 2020 (UTC)
- NPGallery links for listings after about 2013 are known to not work. I have added a link to the weekly actions page. Magic♪piano 21:20, 28 July 2020 (UTC)
Hauppauge Methodist Episcopal Church
FYI, the newly registered Hauppauge Methodist Episcopal Church is actually located on the Town of Smithtown side of Town Line Road, not the Town of Islip side. I just added material to that list, including the swiping of the coordinates from your erroneous listing. ---------User:DanTD (talk) 02:45, 31 August 2020 (UTC)
- I figured I had a 50/50 chance of getting it right. Thanks for making the correction. Magic♪piano 17:20, 31 August 2020 (UTC)

Hi, I'd like to update the image here with a cropped version. It's a photo of the Baptist New Meeting House, which I believe you upload to Commons. Any concern? Just thought I'd check with you first. Thanks. Dmoore5556 (talk) 22:15, 25 November 2020 (UTC)

Cuyahoga County NRHP - Downtown Lakewood HD
Hi -
The NPS published the name incorrectly. The correct name is Lakewood Downtown Historic District (so it falls under L for Lakewood and not D for Downtown). I corrected the row, but I don't understand how to renumber the lines, so I undid my edit. If you could make the edit change and renumber the rows, that would be great. I am the NR nomination author if you need other proof for the edit. Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Catsmeowmeow (talk • contribs) 05:44, 4 December 2020 (UTC)
NRHP in Sumter County, FL
Just so you know, as of yesterday, the National Register of Historic Places listings in Sumter County, Florida is fully illustrated once again. I may start a small gallery for the site that previously disqualified the list as being fully illustrated. ---------User:DanTD (talk) 13:52, 22 February 2021 (UTC)
Hello, Magicpiano,
When you added or changed a template or infobox on this article, you created a nonexistent, red link category. According to WP:REDNO, this is to be avoided. So, could you either adjust the information in the article or create this category so that it fits into the existing category structure? It would be much appreciated as you would know more about the subject that editors randomly patrolling Special:WantedCategories. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 04:10, 24 April 2021 (UTC)
Anthony Braxton assessment
Hi Magic♪piano! This is going waaaay back, but I've been working on cleaning up the Anthony Braxton article for the last few months & thought I'd say hi; it's sort of horrifying how much hadn't been fixed since your assessment in 2009! At the time you were reviewing the page for the Composers project & rated it "start class". I'm not yet asking anyone for a full reassessment, as there's still a great deal that needs to be expanded, but I'm wondering if you could glance at the page again to see if the composers project class could be upgraded; I'm hesitant to do so myself given that the project doesn't use the "C-class" designation. Thanks so much! // Knifegames (talk) 00:22, 30 July 2021 (UTC)

Howdy, I noticed that a request to split the Valdez-Cordova NRHP list was made last year, but was never completed. Impressive work taking pictures of NRHP sites
I've been trying to semisystematically correct the geographic coordinates of NRHP sites (concentrating on Massachusetts, perhaps more on that later). This is largely an armchair task, requiring merely to find the site in Google Street View and compare it to the Wikipedia picture. Almost without exception the pictures were taken by you, and almost without exception the picture is good enough (no trees in the way, etc.) to make a positive identification. That was an impressive amount of footwork you must have done, visiting all those sites and taking good pictures. Much appreciated. —scs (talk) 15:59, 14 January 2022 (UTC)
- You'll find that Faolin42 has also taken a great many pictures in and near Massachusetts. I've been all over New England -- thanks for the good words! Magic♪piano 01:52, 15 January 2022 (UTC)

Welcome to the ninth issue of the English Wikipedia's Bots Newsletter, your source for all things bot. Vicious bot-on-bot edit warring... superseded tasks... policy proposals... these stories, and more, are brought to you by Wikipedia's most distinguished newsletter about bots. After a long hiatus between August 2019 and December 2021, there's quite a bit of ground to cover. Due to the vastness, I decided in December to split the coverage up into a few installments that covered six months each. Some people thought this was a good idea, since covering an entire year in a single issue would make it unmanageably large. Others thought this was stupid, since they were getting talk page messages about crap from almost three years ago. Ultimately, the question of whether each issue covers six months or a year is only relevant for a couple more of them, and then the problem will be behind us forever. Of course, you can also look on the bright side – we are making progress, and this issue will only be about crap from almost two years ago. Today we will pick up where we left off in December, and go through the first half of 2020. Overall January 2020

DYK for International Vinegar Museum
On 14 February 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article International Vinegar Museum, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the International Vinegar Museum houses more than 350 types of vinegar from around the world? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/International Vinegar Museum. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, International Vinegar Museum), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

UpdateNRHPProgress script not working?
I just tried to run User:Magicpiano/NRBot/UpdateNRHPProgress.js for the first time in a while, and it doesn't seem to work for me anymore; aside from logging a console message that I ran the script, the button doesn't do anything. Looking at the code, I think there's an error in the CheckPermission function; if the user who runs the script isn't an authorized user and the script isn't disabled, the function doesn't return anything, so the return value defaults to undefined and is evaluated as false. You are invited to WP:URFA/2020, a working group reviewing featured articles promoted between 2004 and 2015. An article that you nominated for FA status, Capture of Fort Ticonderoga, has been marked as "Satisfactory" by two editors, meaning that they believe it meets the featured article criteria. Can you check the article and determine if it meets the FA criteria? If it does, please mark it as "Satisfactory" on WP:URFA/2020A. If you have concerns about the article, we hope that you will fix it up or post your concerns on the article's talk page. Samuel Ferris House
You were the first one to refer to the address of this house as being at 1 Cary Street (Dec 2014) and the article has remained such to this day. I felt I should put my 2 cents in by changing it to 1 Cary Road. My mom, dad, 3 sisters and I lived in that house from 1978 until 1984 and I received a bunch of mail addressed to 1 Cary Road. It faces the Post Road separated by a guard rail about 40-50 feet away, the driveway in the back of the house is on Fitch Lane. There is a Salt Box addition at the back that serves as the bathroom. A taller person cannot stand up straight in the shower except very close to the faucet. We almost never used the front door, the one leading out of the kitchen was very old though, with double layered diagonal pine boards clench-nailed. The edge of the door had a palm print worn into it over a long time of the same person pushing the door open at the same spot. I wish I had learned more about the house back then, but I can still visualize everything about the interior, especially the ceilings shorter than I was. Cfs0527 (talk) 23:38, 6 July 2022 (UTC)

Hi, I thought I should let you know the house pictured in the article “G.W. Reed Travelers Home” is not the correct building. It is actually a few houses over from that one, at 148 Falls Road and can be seen at Historic New England’s site, listed as the “David Reed House, Benton Falls Maine”. https://www.historicnewengland.org/explore/collections-access/gusn/166962/

Just a quick correction to the prior message about the 2022 MILHIST coordinator election! I (Hog Farm) didn't proofread the message well enough and left out a link to the election page itself in this message. The voting will occur here; sorry about the need for a second message and the inadvertent omission from the prior one. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 17:41, 15 September 2022 (UTC)
Wikiproject Military history coordinator election voting closing soon
Voting for the upcoming project coordinator election closes soon, at 23:59 on 28 September. A team of up to ten coordinators will be elected for the next coordination year. The project coordinators are the designated points of contact for issues concerning the project, and are responsible for maintaining our internal structure and processes. They do not, however, have any authority over article content or editor conduct, or any other special powers. More information on being a coordinator is available here. Voting is conducted using simple approval voting and questions for the candidates are welcome. The voting itself is occurring here If you have any questions, you can contact any member of the current coord team. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 20:13, 26 September 2022 (UTC)

Story Mound error
You seem to have had success in making edits in Wikipedia, and I have not been successful. There is an entry for a mound of dirt in Saylor park created during a school construction protect that got listed as an Indian Mound named Story Mound, which is actually in Chillicothe OH. In the edit history of the page I see attempts to make corrects going back a dozen years. I would be happy to send you the documentation that I have and the chain of messages trying to get it corrected if you think you might be able to help correct the entry. Bob Coil bobcoiltrb@gmail.com Bobcoiltrb (talk) 14:25, 8 October 2022 (UTC)
- I would strongly recommend you work with your state historic preservation office (which your local historical society should be familiar with) to get the mound delisted from the National Register, if what you claim is true. As a rule, what gets placed in Wikipedia needs to be confirmable through "public" sources; for example, if the historical society has a regular publication, it could run a story about this location, describing its history. Wikipedia editors could then use that (and/or the information surround a National Register delisting) to update the article. (I note that there is a separate location in Chillicothe that is also called "Story Mound", but I'm assuming it is unrelated to the one you describe in Sayler Park, Cincinnati.) Pilot Life
Could you look at User:Vchimpanzee/Pilot Life Insurance Company Home Office and see if it's ready for article space? There are certain details I need for the infobox that I don't know how to find, and perhaps you do. Thanks.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 18:18, 8 October 2022 (UTC)

NRHPweekly citations
Hi Magicpiano,
a citation like <ref>{{NRHPweekly}}</ref>
, which you added in e.g.
[1]
[2]
[3], is quite unhelpful - the linked page lists hundreds of list pages, changing over time; expecting Wikipedia readers and your fellow editors to spend their time searching through these to find out where you had read the information is neither polite nor consistent with WP:CS. Next time please link directly to a page that contains the information. Regards, HaeB (talk) 09:45, 7 November 2022 (UTC)

Delisting question
Do you have any source for the Weyerhaeuser Office Building being delisted from the NRHP? - Jmabel | Talk 17:08, 16 January 2023 (UTC)
- Added to article. I'm guessing the building was delisted because it was moved. Magic♪piano 21:59, 17 January 2023 (UTC)
