Khilegaon is a village in Belgaum district in Karnataka, India.[1] It is famous[according to whom?] for its Basaveshwara temple. History has it that the sultan wanted to destroy the temple but the villagers didn't resent. It was impossible to break the basava and ended up asking for forgiveness by the same Adilshahi, second sultan of Vijayapur.[citation needed]
