POV

[edit]

The overview asserts that Peru's growth has been a result of their working with the IMF and World Bank, and that their financial problems are in spite of this. That's a pro-IMF POV (which is unsurprising, since the info comes from the CIA, which is very pro-IMF.) But many economists disagree. – Quadell (talk) (bounties) 18:21, 25 December 2005 (UTC)lol I loved this story so much that o my god I cant discrible it[reply]

Not only that, but reading the economic report lets you think that Peru is paradise, but reality is that according to last research 51,2 % of population is below poverty one of the highest in southamerica. tendency = still increasing. This information is strongly ommitted here. Bonduelle 16:47, 15 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You mean Peruvian, are you college educated? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.59.214.20 (talk) 20:47, 26 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Then bloody-well edit it to fix POV issues. It doesn't change anything if you sit here complaining Pvt Mahoney 13:10, 15 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's peppered with POV adjectives like 'robust', 'sound', 'highly positive' - I've slapped a POV tag on it but it needs someone versed in the subject to clean it up. Kisch (talk) 00:21, 9 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

== GDP 80,000?? == You mean Peruvian, are you college educated?

Since when did the pervian GDP reach the heights of Scandinavian countries? 07:10, 06 May 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.234.109.174 (talk)

I think there are almost no updates. Since several years I am trying to update the German Wikipedia (mostly Economy of Peru). In this article there is a lot about the Economic history of Peru, but information about todays economy is missing. I think there should be more information about todays economy than about the economy of the precolonial era. If there is someone out there who is just interested in updating Wikipedia shold contact me Fakler (talk) 07:02, 27 August 2017 (UTC) .[reply]

The English Language

[edit]

No matter how liable the information is, if it reads like a third-grader's essay, it's not going to be cited widely. Please look into the use of written English in this article. Pikalax 22:28, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

wikipedia shouldnt be used as citation I think, and according to policy we should avoy weasel words on the article, technical words for example to deep into economy, but the writing ought to be improved a little bit, though.

I agree, the English in this article needs to be revised. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.127.228.162 (talk) 19:33, 2 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

GDP per capita at 1980 levels?

[edit]

The artice states "Peru’s GDP per capita peaked in 1981 and is only now returning to that level." I looked at the source for this statement and it says it is author's calculations. I have more reliable sources that show that GDP per capital (PPP) has increased since then http://www.indexmundi.com/peru/gdp_per_capita_(ppp).html Eiad77 (talk) 07:40, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Informality

[edit]

Why doesn't this article give justice to informality? We cannot talk about the Peruvian economy without talking about informality. Also, the unemployment statistics are absurd when not discussed in the context of formal economic practices vs. informal economic practices.Jorgecatolica1 (talk) 23:02, 13 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in Economy of Peru

[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Economy of Peru's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 18:53, 23 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello everyone, I am working for the International Trade Centre (ITC), a UN/WTO agency that aims to promote sustainable economic development through trade promotion. I would like to propose the addition of an external link (http://www.macmap.org/QuickSearch/FindTariff/FindTariff.aspx?subsite=open_access&country=SCC604%7cPeru&source=1%7CITC) that leads directly to our online database of customs tariffs applied by Peru. Visitors can easily look up market access information for Peru by selecting the product and partner of their interest. I would like you to consider this link under the WP:ELYES #3 prescriptions. Moreover, the reliability and the pertinence of this link can be supported by the following facts 1) ITC is part of the United Nations, and aims to share trade and market access data on by country and product as a global public good 2) No registration is required to access this information 3) Market access data (Tariffs and non-tariff measures) are regularly updated

Thank you, Divoc (talk) 16:09, 20 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This article is HUGE

[edit]

I will take a look at this article and see what is notable and what not. Many sections need to be organized (a 1991-present section after a section from 2006?). Anyways, some changes may be coming if I get the chance to make them.----ZiaLater (talk) 02:57, 15 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Collection of removed info

[edit]

This article looks like it has long needed a massive update. Much of this article did not have citations and was too detailed for its own good. Though there are no citations, the information removed can be seen in my edit summaries that I will list here.--WMrapids (talk) 08:05, 13 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Significant bias in article

[edit]

It should be noted that many claims in this article are backed not by economical publications, but journalism. For example, let's consider this claim:

deregulation resulting from the Lima Consensus has overall resulted with increased economic inequality, crime, corruption and poor labor rights.

World Bank shows long-term decrease in Gini index. I couldn't find statistics on crime in English.Corruption seems to remain generally steady over last 15 years, with significant decrease in early 2000s (as measured by Corruption Perception Index).

Though statistical poverty has decreased significantly – from nearly 60% in 2004 to 20.5% in 2018 – the quality of life of Peruvians has not improved.

HDI increased steadily over 30 years. Access to electricity increased. Life expectancy increased. Child mortality decreased. Absolute poverty decreased. Michalwadas (talk) 14:56, 5 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
